My favorite group of "ALL" time. These are truly the Kings of Balladeers!!! No others can compare. The Delfonics are truly an icon for the history of Love Songs!
im all over the place tonight. We have lost Gil Scott Heron !! Im drunk, drinking Mad DOG 20/20 all day, and lots of WEED!! I miss my kids - and I am fucking SAD!! right now, i am thinking about my 13 year old Daughter. NIA, your daddy loves - YOU!!
The problem is that TODAYS BROTHERS have to look tough and be tough....It makes no sense because it should of been the COMPLETE OPPOSITE.....All the senseless racism was in the 50's 60's and 70's...They would have a reason to look tough, mean and MAD....Today EVERYBODY LOVES Everybody...All you got to do is pull your paints down and puts some gold teeth in and come out with a song about THE GANGSTA life and your rich...Its a BUNCH OF BULLSHIT...Grow up BROTHERS....LOSERS
All these old songs are giving me a lump in my throat. I am filled up with so many different emotions and trying to keep from crying. I wish I could go back in time even if it wasjust only for one day.
ablackvelvetone - I concurr IronmanHondo87- that's back in my day.....nothing like it, no calling women bitches or hoes, true love songs....take notes youngstas
@ELVISRN1 I don't think so, this group consisted of William and Wilbert Hart, Richie Daniels and Randy Cain later Cain was replaced by Major Harris......ya dig......peace
man this is real music. if you were a young adult or teenager during this time you were blessed. when you hear the music from the early 70's, you stop and it takes youback to the best moment of your life, that special someone in the basement at the party you will never forget. They don't make music like this any more.
give me 3 and a half mins of REAL MUSIC instead of 5 mins of no meaning at all hip hop mess any day!! This is the sound I grew up with, learning to slow dance for real which the young have no clue how to do, learning the meaning of someone really loves you, dedications, oooo wee the memories!
I saw the Delfonics Live in S.F. in 1970's 2nd bill was the Moments and the Whispers. It was at Mr. D's on Broadway. It was like a players ball !!!!!! Everyboday was cut and clean and pimped out. I'll never forget that concert !!!
Since everyone is writing who they are.... I guess I will say, I am old and black (46 - but super cute...anyhow I digress)... I am just listening to songs from my childhood that made me wish I was old enough to date and ride in those cool mustang convertibles like the high school girls... This music reminds me of my uncle who just passed away a few days ago... I will always think of him as being handsome, cool, dating .... This all makes me smile....
@Tracyndc1963 Nice post. This music also evokes memories of my father and uncles that played this music all of the time. Literally hearing this song takes me back to those times -- I can see their youthful faces and frams, I can feel the times, etc... Your post touched me, and I wanted to comimiserate a bit myself. Blessings.
From the comments.....it just goes to show you that there are still young people out there that appreciate true love songs instead of cop killing stuff.
the delphonics always had a great aire of romantic sophistication in their music. Sorry younguns, but most of today's music on the radio sounds like someone beating a baby with a cat....
besides how wonderful this music is and most oldies like marvin gaye, sam cooke, the recently deceased teddy pendergrass, isaac hayes, commodores, friends of distinction and etc. is that the music is so good that there's never arguments between comment on the videos, just agreement and appreciation for the music.
just listening tothisbrings back memories of Philly and my sweet sixteen birthday party everyone from John Bartram HS and Gratz along with Dobbins was there boy that was the life, no worries at all.
The great director Quentin Tarantino of Pulp Fiction fame. Had the wherewithal to recognized the greatness of the Delfonics and had their music be a big part of his film "Jackie Brown". This is the Philadelphia sound at it's best!....
This one has that "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" type of feelin to it. The ora of the legends was embodied on every track they put out. From the passion, to the mutual reciprocity of love, even down to the natural gift of the purist vocalization and harmonization. There's nothin like the fervor of the old school.
one of best male vocal groups period. what a beautiful sound. my wife and i will be attending oldies dance on valentines day. hope they play this one.

@Winter412 A lot of whites really didn't listen to soul music until the late 80s, early 90s. Now there is a crying in the land for this music. I'm glad. I've been listening to this music all of my life. And it never gets old. Now this generation is being introduced to this by the parents from my day. Now if it could only be filtered back in to the "hood". True musicians, rue song writers, and true music. How it was really done. with heart and soul.
@IRONMANHONDO87 Yes, "heart and soul" and not dependent on "synthesizing or enhancements" which take place in most of popular music's genre today. Heart and soul, shit I haven't heard that term in a long time, go figure, you got me, you got me good!
@Winter412 White black latino Asian it doesn't matter good music is good music no matter the color of your skin. Why don't we do what this music was meant to make us do and love one another (no homo).

some body loves you boy this I swear was true but don't belive the hipe once they find out you are a loser you will be history what goes around comes around sober up and maybe you have a chance to changefuckin drunk
Hello, is this WRAP, I want to make a dedication. I'm I on the radio? (Yes you are young man) Hello everyone out there in radio land! I I I would like to dedicate a song to my girl friend Delores A. Edle. ( Well what song young man) The Delfonics - Somebody Loves You. Sir, can I say something to Delores? ( Yes ) Delores...baby, my love is real. Those other guys may be cool, may dress well, may have lots of drug money, but Delores that stuff fades, but baby my love will last forever.
Wow i mean i think i just played this song like five times! It was to bad I missed this era I really appreciate this classics u can feel the emotion in the song its amazing
Over and over again thats my personal favorite... Classic oh wait for the love i give to you ...damn these guys were dope...problem with todays singers is NO STYLE!!! Felix Hernandez reps this type of music hard ....
i have the Delfonics greatest hits and it one of my all time favourite cd, this is soul music at it.'s best/ There's no groups around today that can match the style of the 60 and 70;s Soul groups.
The person named "sillyjilly 67" is right, that's the Delfonics Theme song, and I have it on the original album, title " Tell me this is a Dream" side 2, song #4.
It truly is a beautiful theme song, I have always enjoyed it!!
I want to Dedicate this song to my one and only true blue love, who I am going to marry and spend the rest of my life with, hes my everything and I miss him each and every day that passes by, but I know I will see him soon, and I cherish that little time we get to spend with each other, I love you baby George, each and every day, ur on my mind!!
hey homes watcha the real story is canoga back in the days was a og barrio the last of the oldies homies no rap no sagging puro sur 13 now days vatos want to rap witch is firme but man homie oldies rule for ever
join in...and everyday i watch you - i just cant do without you-your so doggone pretty and i gotta have you,and i'm gonna say hey... somebody loves you girl, this i swear is true
The Spring of 1969, this one was LARGE as my high school senior year was coming to an end. The Delfonics, at this time, were taking the biggest slice. Good Stuff!!!!!!
They were to me the best R&B group ever! I love their symphonic soul sound (Philly) and how well their voices came across.? Thees men were truly a class act. I hope they get inducted into the Hall of Fame...
so U think no 1 cares oh boy what i foul thing to think of...if U give me a chance i will give U a true love! And everyday i want u i just cant do without u, your so doggone pretty i got to have u and i have to say hey SOMEBODY LUVS U GIRL THIS I SWEAR IS TRUE - ur the one i've always dreamed of! EPIC

Back in the day our souls respected "Love" it was the determining factor, it was
being treated like a lady. The guys look good, dressed good, took pride in their
appearance, they were gentlemen....I am so happy that I was born during that
time and enjoyed the experiences of love.....even if my heart was broken..I lived
on afterwards.....Love came through my window and right out the door...

Most of your great singers today go back to the 60s
and 70s. I might have 20 songs that I like since 1990
but for the 70s alone I have at least 500 songs that I liked
and the 60s please there is at least a few thousand that I like.

Edle. ( Well what song young man) The Delfonics - Somebody Loves You. Sir, can I say something to Delores? ( Yes ) Delores...baby, my love is real.
