  • so many colors bob moses is A GENIUS!!!!!!!!

  • so many colors bob moses is A GENIUS

  • @astroscorp2 The term "fusion" was something made up by a marketing executive. It has absolutely no basis in anything musical. I like your comment...fusion "means" nothing...because it means everything.

  • Holy crap this is like the ultimate super group

Pat Metheny = you fucking god

    Jaco = Holy shiiiiit

Bob Moses = dont know him, but his second name is MOSES FUUUUUUU-

  • Amazing

  • I just started listening to jazz about four days ago, first it was django reinhardt, then jimmy rosenberg, wes montgomery and now pat meheney, I got a bunch of new albums to buy, thats for sure

  • @astroscorp2 Totally agree. Extremely well said.

  • Also porn movies ruined smooth jazz

  • @astroscorp2 You make a lot of sense. We wouldn't want Metheny's music placed in the same category as, say, Kenny G.

  • I have three live recordings of this trio, and anyone

who would like to hear them need only to send me a

private message here on youtube, and I will send you some

links so you can download them :)

The record "Bright Size Life" is truly beautiful and a

masterpiece, but the live recordings of this trio

captures more of the raw energy and improvisational

magic that this trio was able to manifest.

  • @astroscorp2 You have a great point. I've always thought of fusion as a blend of styles and approach. Pat Metheny is often considered jazz fusion, but I like your idea of this being post-modern jazz with a touch of pop in the harmony. Regardless of genre, it's a beautiful piece and extremely organic in the improvisations.

  • this is so heavy metal

  • @astroscorp2 This is definitely fusion, though more than that. It is an extremely beautiful piece. One of the great things about fusion is that it is a combination. So while you are right that the 8ths are straight, it's still fusion. It is definitely not funk though, as you said, though funk 8ths are also straight. Just my take on it. And yes, Jaco was truly amazing at the bass. It's a shame that he didn't have a longer, much more successful life.

  • always loved this brilliant trio!! Have a dvd with them playing with Joni Mitchell. I guess you call this "smooth fusion" :-)

  • Shame on you. This isn't "smooth jazz." And, yes, by definition, smooth jazz IS crap. This was a BRAND NEW SOUND when the album was released. Nothing like it out there...and both Jaco and Pat's way of soloing was completely innovative. Grrrrrrrr.....

  • @ergoguitar not all smooth jazz is crap..just the poppy bubblegum ones

  • @doublethumpbass89 we have to agree to disagree. in my opinion, smooth jazz is crap. there is no "smooth jazz". again, all marketing terms and ploys. And besides, who cares? Do you really need to define it by some marketing genre? It's either good or it isn't.... Look, Grover Washington played what you probably think of as "smooth jazz." Grover Washington is fantastic. He's a good player, composer and musician. He plays funky, smooth, in the pocket, etc. Down with genres.

  • @robertvdpoel totally agree. Jaco 4ever.

  • maybe the best song I've ever heard... brigh size life, open story by danny heines and three libras by a perfect circle... soundtrack for my life :)

  • Thanks for posting. This album got me through a lot of BS on the bandbus back in the early 80s.

  • waauuu q sentimiento le pone a la guitarra.. =D

  • Maj 7ths, 9 sus add 11, Maj7 #11s , minors and some implied cords using minor 2nd intervals at least thats how i remember it, its in the real book and Pats book

  • @Macktones slash chords.

  • damn, this lick is so nostalgic. brings back memories

  • THIS IS ADDICTING TO THE EARS

  • Wow this is awesome!!

  • Listening to Jaco Pastorius perform is sheer heaven to the senses!!!

  • Jaco was a wonder

    Such an inspiration

  • Public access television has ruined the smooth jazz genre. This is great stuff, but whenever I show it to people they always go "HURR THIS SOUNDS LIKE BEING ON HOLD". *sigh*

  • Thanks, NeilFraudstrong, for your coment.

It was my mistake giving your coment a negative note on the hands figures. I wanted to do the oposite.

I agree with your point of view.

    Cheers!!!

  • AMEN!!!!!

    i hate that!!!

and people also think smooth jazz is always gunna be crap like Kenny G!!!!

  • @randomlightningman This isn't smooth jazz. Smooth jazz by definition is crap.

  • @funnyduck on the contrary, smooth jazz isn't necessarily crap. it was just ruined by kenny g. it's similiar to what happened with hip-hop/rap and rock and roll. once a very genre, now taken over by very shitty music. there are still people that play smooth jazz (ie. pat on some songs could definitely be considered smooth jazz) that are very good, it's just a case of the good ones being drowned out by the pile of shit that most people see as smooth jazz.

  • @prsshred39 i meant to say "once a very good genre"

  • I agree with you about Jaco but you could have corrected him without being rude!

  • beautiful !!

  • puta que es bueno el pato metheny

  • So wonderful
