When I purchased my H1 it was going to be my all in one vehicle... Daily Driver, Convertible Cruiser, Offroad Toy, Work Horse etc... So I needed the creature comforts... Now that I have a newer Dodge Ram with Cummins I kinda wish I would have gotten a humvee then just transplated a 6BT 12v mechanical cummins into it and be alot less to worry about.
@Injunfarian yep, by now i own an ex-military M151 and it works as an everyday transport, offroad toy convertible car and it`s amazingly raliable! and woul`d be great to have it and a HMMWV, good luck with your vid`s audio pal.
@imasuper0308, what are you talking about man?!? are you sure you owned a H1. maybe you had a wanna-bee. i have a 2002 h1, its never broken down, ive never had a serious problem on the trails. the only thing bad about it is width. jeeps are smaller and so they can squeeze places, where the h1 has to either turn around. or in my case, i make a hole. also the reason it broke down could be to poor maintance. you must take care of these cars like any other, then they will take care of you
I took one of my 2 Hummers to Moab, it broke down on the highway half way there. Hummers break down ever 2 weeks and take 3 weeks to fix. I've had 2 of them. They are pretty cool but these videos are very deceptive. My decked out Cherokee Jeep will smoke the hummer. There just isn't any comparison. The Hummer is just way too big and the wheel base too long to get over the vast majority of obsticles. The Hummer is a seriously cool piece of crap though. I loved them when they ran.
heh are you serious? you seriously think that your decked out unibody can "smoke" a hummer offroad? My "decked out" YJ can more than likely smoke your unibody and I dont even put it anywhere near the H1 in offroading... Sure its great on tight trails but thats about it. The H1 can go through deeper mud, has lower center of gravity but alot more clearence and bigger tires so goes up hills etc no problem without pucker factor unlike the YJ that gives you a pucker factor on any hill.
Yes, I have owned 2 Hummer 1s. They are seriously cool pieces of junk but yes the shorter wheelbase, smaller vehicle with ARBs will indeed go more places. The H1 will climb really well and yes deeper mud will go to the H1 but over all a very well built 4x4 is going to be better. An H1 has about 8 inches of articulation and it is so dang long on wheelbase it just can't go over anywhere near as many obsticles. No question the cool factor is up there with Ferrari but in fact it is a bit limited
That is where your vision is blurred... You state that the H1 has too long of a wheelbase... Many Wrangler owners would state that your cherokee has too long of a wheelbase... Some folks increase their wheelbase... its all what that person wants for both stability and cargo space. Also you state that the longer wheelbase makes the hummer "not be able to go over some obsticles" Im guessing this is due to breakover angle... the breakover angle on a stock H1 is far more superior then any stock rig.
i dont see why people attack the H1. it is great for what it was designed to do. but the H2 is probably why hummer has a bad name. but i can buy 3 or 4 unimogs for the price of a used H1
I dont know about 4 unimogs especially with todays economy the H1 has really gone down in value. But a unimog is a totally different creature itself and can destroy an H1 on various obsticles and lag behind on others. But if I had enough cash I'd definitely add a unimog to my fleet... Always was a dream to grab one and convert it into a 4x4 motorhome :)
i like the way you compare an $80,000 vehicle to a $20,000 one.your video was nice.not a hater.i just didnt care for the way you made it seem like everything else was crap.if jeep was so bad, then why is it more popular than a hummer.on and off the trail.and the new hummer vs. new jeep?why dont you compile that one.or unimog vs.hummer.make it a little more of a realistic comparison.
Like I said I am not attacking anyone just showing people why I choose a hummer over various other vehicles... And sure it could be a 80k to 20k vehicle comparison for the guys looking at it money wise but alot of these modded jeeps have far more into them then 20k... I prefer to look at it as Heavily Modded vs stock or midly moded H1's :) but in any case I am not trying to put down any type of vehicle, just defending my own type of vehicle.
As for why jeeps are more popular then hummers I would disagree sure there are more jeeps and more jeep owners out there but is that popular? or is the fact that when I drive down the street in my H1 about 80% of people stare at it, all different ages... Now is that popular? it depends on what you define popular as. But yes there was less than 14k h1's ever produced and was only in production for 13 years as for the jeep they produce that in one year and been producing for many of years.
as for new hummer caparison... why would I do that? I dont own a GM Hummer nor would choose to. So no real need to make a video to defend a choice I did not make. Also for the Unimog vs Hummer comparison at around 7:30 in this video you will see a unimog :)
"jeeps...have no articulation ability" What? How do you justify that statement? Stock to stock Jeeps way outflex anything out there. Hummers have advantages in many situations because of weight, low CG, long wheelbase and tons of ground clearance. Alot of Injunfarian's vids show people who can't drive, rather than rigs that don't work. That tan hummer with the Cummins BT4 is a good example of a built rig operated by a guy who knows what he's doing. The Jeep flipping down the rock crack isn't
hummers dont even flex have you seen the video of the guy who drives up on the ramp and the front tire leaves the ground instantly(the point is for 3 tires to stay on the ground and one to go as high as possible on the ramp) and then he flips and tries to play it off like he meant to do it....thank GOD for independent suspension....NOT
Well I myself have only done Delaware, Putnam, Kilally, Gopher Dunes, Stoney Point(old military base) and a couple trails in the back of a couple friends farm lots. Nothing too serious my rig was not in this video but is in the mudding one... mostly mud around here
Which clips are you talking about the different path? If it is about MaBell face sure he did take a different path than some but also did take same path than others. And did it once forward and once in reverse.
lol i love the yakkity saks music :P

I like the vid. But alot of 4 wheeling has to do with the driver not the rig.
