I watched this fight 2x and both times I scored it the same w/ Cerrone winning rds 1, 4 n 5 while I gave Henderson 2 n 3.There is no way in hell that Henderson shoulda won n I was pissed wen he won the decision. That was sum serious BULL SHIT! Even the commentators said they gave Cerrone rd 1 n he definitely didn't lose 4 or 5 so idk how he lost. I admit that I am a Cerrone fan, but when I went back n re-watched that fight I scored it with as little bias as possible n still had it the same.
Donald aint going no where he will be bak and will be what i beleive the next light weight champ, i jus see it in his will to fight. it was a hell of a fight but i think donald shoulda walked away with the belt, even thow hendersons performance for amazing
It was a very close fight, henderson without a doubt held the dominate positions and like u said got a little sloppy in 4 and 5, but i think it was the right decision, cerone did ver good but henderson was just amazing and blew me away with his submission defense and ground and pound Henderson v. Varner will be awesome, i hope they have it here in AZ
you think he won round 1? i admit that i don't really know much about how mma fights are typically scored but henderson was wailing away on him. cerrone only had that one guillotine attempt and that was bout it.
Ben Henderson won that one hands down in my book. I called him winning 2,3 and 5. Ben wasn't being submitted he was relaxing. He's an escape artist. It was beautiful. Plus he kept a dominate position for most of the fight. But as you guys said he only won by one point, it was close.
My boy Cerrone had Ben trying to survive all night long. I give Ben props, for being able to survive all those submission attempts, but to give him the fight...... hell no. I have no idea, why the judges gave Ben a unanimous decision.
@ogshowme yuppp, even varner seemed surprised by the decision and credited to Ben's ability to survive those vicious submission attempts by Cerrone, which like u said was amazing but not something thats ever been taken into account as far as scoring a fight goes. I've seen Cerrone is several fights and he always goes hard and is the most unrelenting fighter in the sport. Cerrone definitely shoulda pulled that one out. And if you dont think so then maybe you didn't hear the crowd booing Ben's ass
@TheACDCROKR I want to see him get another title shot soon.....he's been even more of a beast since joining Greg Jackson. The lightweights are the deepest division in the mma, with any of those guys you must bring your A game.
I actually had Henderson winning 1-3 and Cerrone 4 and 5... but i could see how round 1 could be called either way. I expected a split decision win for Henderson.
After watching it again I could see how the judges could give Ben the first round I still gave it to Cerrone. I was also surprised the decision was unanimous.
it was a good night of fights WEC brought it once again i am one of the few who gave the fight to Henderson the first round is the round that is make or break and i thought that Henderson controlled Cowboy for the rest of the round and won that round and ultimatley the fight. Fabiano getting subbed was shocking. Damicio Page if he gets two or three more wins like that he is looking at a title shot
i understand your opinion but i think that the judging in mma is too greatly favored towards wrestlers. Cerrone almost finished the fight on 3 separate occasions then Henderson spent the rest of the round in "control" but never really put Cerrone in danger. The way the judging is now; Henderson wins. The way the judging should be; Cerrone wins. At least that's my opinion.
Cerrone was never in position to win. As you see Henderson was never fazed by any of his attempts. Maybe if it was some other fighter, who managed to escape, but Ben escaped and then threw punches and then became dominate. The dude was cruising man
However, even if Henderson was not fazed, Cerrone had multiple dominant positions (from the submission attempts)and that should have scored him some major points.

I thought it was a close round but gave it to Cerrone because he came closer to finishing the fight.

I can see Ben getting the decision but no way he won round 5.

Why is everybody so surprised by the decision, when Cerrone said that Henderson WON!
I guess a man should know when he got his ass whipped!
Henderson dominated the fight because he controlled where the fight took place!
If you TRY to submit, and it dont work, what should you get credit for????
mw94533 2 years ago
I wouldn't go so far as to say he got whipped, Henderson looked worse for wear afterwards and was hospitalized.
Why shouldn't you get credit for a sub attempt?
916Chris 2 years ago
very very entertaining fight, too bad the judges favor top position more than they do sub attempts, otherwise cerrone would have won that fight

Henderson should have lost the decision but man what a FIGHT! The first round set the tempo for the entire fight. Definitely a must watch for anyone.

Couldn't agree more, transfering it to my dvd collection at the moment. The decision really did bring down my enthusiasm at the the time though.
