@KenneWilleJ1102 that's where they are... Have you seen any hipsters in Ridgewood??? the white folk that you probably see are either eastern european, or italian or light-skinned arabs... after that there really isn't any white hipster presence in the neighborhood aside from maybe around Cypress ave closer to the east williamsburg/bushwick border by metro, starr, troutman, etc. after that Cypress ave is predominantly hispanic...
PALMETTO & SENECA GOTAA LOVE IT ... MR PEANUT BEEN ON THAT WALL EVER SINCE I CAN REMEMBER... ALSO BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS WAS FILMED AROUND THERE IN THE 80'S MR PEANUT IS IN THE MOVIE...MY DAD USED TO HANG OUT @ THIS NIGHT CLUB MONTE CARLO UNDER NEATH THE TRAIN STATION.... CHILD HOOD MEMORIES ..
@JCAlba89 you must be from Bushwick cause there aint no hipsters in Ridgewood... maybe like 2 or 3 towards the Bushwick border but this neighborhood doesn't have the appeal that the Brooklyn neighborhoods tend to have for these hipster folk... plus, there's no art or cafe scene over here...
@Ridgewoodallday She has no "feel" for Seneca!! She was looking to rip the area and not discuss the facts of drug use by whites that ruined the area in late 70's and eighties . This is a racist attempt at journalism!
@Pook220 What are you smoking?? I've lived in the area for nearly 25 years and was visiting family before that! It is a known fact that once the Latinos and Blacks started to move in that the area began to crumble! While there are some White trash sprinkled throughout the place their is no accounting for how filthy things turn when YOUR people begin to live somewhere! Look at the conditions of the various ghettos and barrios for proof!
@JCAlba89 This neighborhood is and has always been for the most part a hot spot for immigrant folk from all over whether it be from south or central america, southern or eastern europe or south or middle eastern countries... And no one here is worried about displacement or gentrification cause this neighborhood doesn't need gentrification.
the things she didnt show you was the nice new trains and the turnstiles that are cean and shiny but arent all steps that are outdoors are dirty and its alwasy gonn abe dirty i grew up there and im 14 now .. but what can i tell you if you wanna complain and be disgusted then dnt take the freakin subway and see how you get to where you need to go , den you will take bakc everythigny ou said
@queenskiller6 another completely off base comment that has nothing to do with the poster of this video... she didn't rate it the worst, the city did.. and she didn't even continue going all the way... you should've seen the chairs before they got cleaned up... filled with gang graffitti... truth is this place was a total dump that reeked of urine and other foul smells throughout... graffitti, overall dinginess of the area, poor structural support, etc. were all major problems for this trainsite
Well the MTA isn't going to bother cleaning stations where people are just going to dirty them again and again. The people around that area don't really respect proper hygiene around the community.
you know maybe you think your cool makein fun of a subway station but you are makein your selve look bad cause your makeing america look bad and you live in america so you look bad and just cause you might live in a richer part that dont mean much cause we all are one country so like i said you make america look bad and you make you selve look mad
@Jess7370 dont know if you had a bad day or something but she was just posting a video about the neighborhood she used to live in and moved back to now. Not sure where all that other stuff came from, but Ridgewood for sure aint rich. Its a working class neighborhood and she was just commenting on the reality of that subway station and pretty soon the forest ave. station also, they're nasty. If you dont live here, then you really shouldnt be commenting... jus saying
This was my home station alas.Lived on Woodbine and recall paing 32 per month, then when steam heat installed rent went to 62.50. Back in the day a huge coal stove heated the station or at least that's my recollection circa 1952 ish..
wow its great to see my old neighborhood I live in orlando now for about 5 years now and only visited Twice since then. I was born n raised my whole life in ridgewood n left when i was 24. To say the least i miss it. Seeing these videos bring me back and things have change some ggod places have went out of buisness. (7 11's wow they werent there before there used to be only in long island n one i think on queens blvd) well keep the videos coming n my memories alive hope to visit soon
oh yes the memories on this station. hangout station and Myrtle-Wyckoff as well. Well honestly the only ones who making it in this area people who been living here all their lives. We moved here back in 1983. My mom still lives in the same apt. which pays $741. not bad compare to $1100+. anyway poor neighborhood changed so much it use to be quiet but not anymore. too much stupidity around i noticed well border with bushwick go figure!
Its everywhere. even in bushwick thanks to gentrification the rents are moving up and are just like Ridgewood prices even thou the neighborhoods relatively worse (it seems that Ridgewoods getting bad now). Anywhere u go unless you live in the projects is gonna be expensive. Nowadays whether you live in Middle Village or Jamaica. One Bedroom apt $1000 and up. 2 bedroom apt $1200 and up. I actually think Ridgewood is not that bad cause u can still find cheap rents if u look around. below $1000
I lived in Ridgewood most of my life. And I find it interesting to view everything you film about it. But Is anyone one going to write about the high rents in Ridgewood or anywhere for that matter? How does someone making $7.25 pay $1,200 rent? Can you do the math? Even $10 is not enough and still pay bills and eat.
i hated the station back in 1975 when i was 6. dekalb is pretty bad also

Yes, Chambers Street is terrible. I have often referred to that stop as 'the land that time forgot.' It is literally falling apart.
