Oh yes, that song is on the tape, I am thinking about doing some kind of image montage to go with that song. If I ever come around to find the time to do it, i'll tell you.
Oh yes, I know him, I come from his hometown. I first heard Donat sign I think I was lik 8-9 years old. He is a colourfull character. In those days, he once came to my home for my father (for business concerning his fishing boat), he was asleep and I told him so, and he just said with a grin on his face: "oh come on, go wake him", at the time, I did not know he was a celebrated signer...
Awesome, not being religious today, I did go to a religious retreat when I was young and this song stuck with me...was watching tv and a tune reminded me...looked it up and there you were! I'm also from NB.
I met up with a bunch from your neck of the woods and their English was not anything about which to boast! Their Cajun French a bit difficult to understand, also!
I love this song! Religious or not, it sort of makes you "spiritual!" Who knows, it may turn your steps back to Him! I hope so!
ha ha! Yes, je suis Acadienne! NB is pretty bilingual therefore even though I attended all French school, I spoke English all my life. I went to teach French in Louisiana after I graduated from Universite de Moncton. Cajun French is different but you get used to it after a while! Bonne journee!
Oh! My friend is from near Moncton! The area is so very beautiful, but too cold!! Brrrr! They hardly have a decent amount of warm weather!
Gee! From there to Louisiana is a long way,... but a whole lot warmer!
Another singer from your hometown area is Alys Robi! Oh! I love her. Her CD to me had to come from NB. Not even in Ontario could I find anything of hers!
There was a movie made of her life, I forget the title, but the actress (I think Acadienne, also) who portrayed her was simply unbelievable! It gave me the goose bumps to listen to her singing Robi's songs!
Actually a friend in Quebec sent me the DVD. I only have a thousand DVD's, so I don't have it handy.
You would love it, although it is very sad. She still sings in Quebec, I think!
I do not know LaCroix. He is a friend of a friend of mine, who lives in New Brunswick.
I will post more of his songs later on. I have to convert them from wma to mp3. I have the program, just not the time. But they are all in French. Do you know French?
I have been taking advantage of the great weather we have been having, doing some extra work around the yard! I am ready for next year!
Awesome video and song. Your description/testimony made me teary eyed ... i remember a person so dear to me ... my dad who passed away last year. I am his only child. But i am still happy knowing that he's in God's loving care now. Thank you for posting this song. God bless! 5*****
Bryan was my only child. My biggest concern is that I raised him Catholic, not having experienced being Born Again until afterward. So, I am not assured as to his salvation! But, God knows best, and I believe His promises!
helga beautiful pictures, do not know what is being said, you never told me what happened with ur son, u know my story, if u want to talk about it. r u going to church anywhere?
Hi! Long time no speak! I thought to call you the other day, but it got to be a bit late!
We must get together! Give me a call! We live so very close and here we have to talk on YouTube!
The pictures: NOT A ONE IS MINE! My friend was so very thoughtful to figure out how not to use the picture I had, which would not have worked! I am very touched just by such thought!

If it is the one I am thinking, you have a lot more of his songs on it, to include one in which he sings with his wife, which is beautiful!
God bless you!

Yes! Great idea! I wanted to do that but don't have the patience to convert to MP3! I love "La femme du capitaine!" It is so very sad but beautiful!

He sings much about "Le pecheur Acadien", and barges, and capitains, and beautiful Acadie!! "Vien voir Acadie," to be another of his songs!
All of this would make for a wonderful theme!
I cannot wait to see the result!

Ha Ha Ha! WHAT A NEAT ANECDOTE!! I JUST LOVE IT!!
He seems to be a very nice guy, very easy going! I know locals have asked him to sing at their loved ones' funerals, and he accepts!
But I love your story!!
