I wish they could have kept this style of music. This style just suits them best. Their new release 2009 follows different approach. I don't like the new release at all. I think the album Lifeline is a good example of a masterpiece in their professional carrier.

I think that changing of direction is quite common in some bands. They want to try something new or maybe the real reason behind it is to attract new listeners so that these new listeners can get to know their "old" music...

No ! That's so NOT true ! You got me wrong here. I'AM the fan. But admit it, it is a matter of having a different tasteand it is vary between individuals ! What I believe is playing piano and string instruments sounds much better to me than running synthesizer and repeat one note over and over again. besides, Morten has a very powerful and clear voice and that's why I THINK he sang 'birthright' or 'white canvas' way much better than the song 'real meaning'.

for those of you who cannot tell, Morten's voice is live. you can hear him breathing and cracking in some notes. with that said he is still the best singer in the world and can hit all the high notes. The band on the other hand need to also start playing live...

I agree with you. They are one of the best bands of all time & sadly very few people here wanted to give them the time of day. The only good thing about that was I had an easy time trading posters...my room was COVERED in Morten. (ceiling too)
