It is quite clear that Iran has the superior position. Sanctions won't work on them because Russia and China will not consent. The only way will be for the West to completely give way to all Russian interests, and of course that won't happen. The Chinese are another matter. Then there's the military option which threatens a naval campaign that could cut off a third of the world oil supply. Disastrous implications, either way.
