We need to cut the spending, cut the government, cut the corruption in Illinois, cut property taxes, repeal the tax increase, recall Pat Quinn, get rid of state and local pensions and roll the current pensions into social security, cut the double and triple dipping on pensions, reduce teacher wages, increase government contributions to their benefits and overall start acting responsibly.
I say stop the spending. Due to the latest increase my family has to cut back and stop unnecessary spending and borrowing. I can't fund my retirement because I'm funding some state workers retirement & I can say "we need certain things running smoothly so I need to do this." But lets cut the extras and demand that the state employees pay for their benefits, or a portion of their benefits, like us non public employees who most of the time fund all of their benefits! It's fair, right and just!
We need to taclkle the causes of the huge debt that we accumulated by over paying for work. I have been a state employee in the past. I know that many are good and dedicated people. Yet we are learning we have paid too much for them and their votes. Democrats give into the unions in order to assure endorsement in the next election. I suggest we emulate WI and NJ and get our labor and pension costs in check. We need dedicated public employees we just can't pay above market for them
A graduated income tax is outlawed in our IL constitution. Aside from that, as a constituant of your district, I want to see IL reduce its waste, entitlements and bring more transperiency. Mr. Wayne, are you aware that the "wealthier" families are strapped with some the highest property taxes in the nation and pay the biggest portion of the state income tax. Increasing state income taxes again is simply unfair and will give these people less money to spend to help the local economy.
As a constituant of your district I wanted you to know my thoughts on addressing our budget shortfall. First I agree that we needed an income tax increase. Unfortunately an across the board increase places a greater burden on low and middle income families. Wealthier families have more disposable income & should be asked to pay more. What I would like you to consider is a graduated state income tax. It can increase revenue equitably & help the state pay its overdue bills.
