@xXiCeDProductionsXx i like it should be morgan rose then chad szeliga then scott phillips.i love all of em.ad seen em all live.thats why i think that.plus ive watched morgan play for years.
,why not play like a fucking animal when you can buy whatever the fuck you want you guys nust not play the drums because going nuts is more fun than sitting there boring as fuck....
@Trapkitt I can agree that he bashes the living hell out of that kit, but let's be honest, to make the claim that he's not on par with world class drummers and to claim that children one quarter his age could play the same is just ridiculous. The man does what he must to remain within the confines of a specific genre. It wouldn't make any sense for him to play gingerly when the rest of the band is so ridiculously heavy.
I just saw them live tonight and they were awsome. He threw sticks everywhere on stage and I caught one. Its funny though because the way his sig stick is designed you would think it was made to beat the shit out of the set. But its his technique.
that's his style to make it look as if he beating the crap of the drumset, if you notice the cymbals dont move as they would if you hit them with full force.
Number 1, he's using wrist techiniques and flash that make it seem as if he's using more force than he actually is, and 2 he uses Z customs, which are very thick cymbals to begin with, not to mention I think his smallest crash is a19 inch lol, so he can afford to whack em' good.
Well, when your Morgan Rose you can beat the shit outta your cymbals and drums and not have to worry about it because you get the shit for free. I used to think hitting hard would make stuff sound better, well it doesnt. You don't have to beat the shit outta your gear to put on a good show, if you have talent thats how you put on a good show.
@99siks10 Playing hard is not about volme or putting on a show. It's my style also, Not everybody hits like a pussy. And if we all played the same way music in general would be really boring.
spikeman23 you arent a noob if u break z customs cymbals every drummer breaks shit its all about the energy you put out at shows and if u want better sounds and if you wanna put on a good show beat the shit out of your drums and cymbals.
i didnt say it made you better its a better show if you do it and now your calling every drummer a noob besides shitty as country and jazz cuz every metal drummer breaks shit i met morgan a couple of times and he told me he breaks his shit all the time same as joey and matt and many more so get your facts straight before you start callin people noobs
Seriously man? Morgan has good technique, and he probably doesn't brake much besides heads. Technique gets your gear to last longer, especially your cymbals no matter what genre you play.
I've been playing for 18 years from technical death to R+B as a studio drummer and you ALWAYS break cymbals no matter what you do or how you hit or the force you put behind each stroke. Its absolutely unavoidable. Thats why they come with warranties.
ight dude watever when u play as many shows i have and wit all da bands i have then you can talk 2 me bout drums and shit but till then dont ive meet more drummers and have played wit alot of signed bands and they all break cymbals and yes cymbals do get louder try it and see
On the flip side, if you can keep the same pair of sticks through the whole gig from breaking, you hit like a faggot.... I break, on average, 2 pair of 2B white oaks per gig and have cracked 2 of my Z custom cymbals...but that's how I play most of the time. Just because you flail your wrist around like a bitch the whole time you play doesn't mean you're better.
@iluvincitingviolence lol well I know a "faggot" who doesn't break anything and plays harder and more amazingly than anyone I've seen from a local standpoint. John Burrier, look him up.
@iluvincitingviolence-- Breaking sticks all the time means you don't play the instrument properly .Of course you brake stick all the time if your a banger who holds the sticks wrong has no finesse or rudimentary skills .
@TheChiFlows Theres not really a way to hold your sticks wrong. You know, SOME people actually like to have fun on a set, instead of looking bored and hardly moving around. I break a drumstick at least twice, if not once a week. And I damn well know I know how play my drum set properly. I mean I don't hit as hard as Morgan, but still...
@spikeman23 yup...breaking ANY cymbal is grounds for re-evaluating playing technique and possibly reconsidering another instrument. The shits too expensive to be breaking cymbals all the time.
he's one of the coolest visual drummers ive seen. I saw him at a local club in Minneapolis. He stared at the ceiling and flipped a stick about 50ft in the air, just short of the ceiling and caught it, not loosing any of the groove. I love how he switches angles with his arms.
He's maybe the most entertaining to watch because of the visuals, but definitely not the best. Most of the best are more extreme metal drummers because of the technical playing. Tomas Haake from Meshuggah plays some of the most mind-boggling shit ever. I would definitely rather listen to Sevendust on a more regular basis than Meshuggah, because it's easier to jam to. Meshuggah is more for the nostalgia of insane time-signatures i can't wrap my head around. Rose's energy is awesome, though.
Shannon Larkin of Godsmack and Ugly Kid Joe fame? Yeah, he's great to watch, but Morgan's animation and movements are more entertaining to me. Shannon is great though.
Morgan Rose is such an inspiration to me as a drummer but i want to see him play harder songs like Disease or Reconect. this song is fairly easy to play. he does do it with a sick style though.

this is one of my favorite drum videos! playing my favorite Sevendust song :D I love his style along with Nick Oshiro's and Vinnie Paul's...I hate how everyone thinks it's all about speed...well, it's not, it's about style and this man's got his own great style
the thing that i LOVE about morgan is that he is an amazing drummer and has a big set, but he uses everything on it. i hate wen ppl have huge kits and use only a fraction of it
he is under rated as a musician and a drummer, hey its cool with me to be a hardcore 7dust fan and have them float under the radar, they should be a lot more famous than they are though they kick total ass
zack o mac has read up on him fucking love that man awesome comment he did win that award and he is rated in the top 100 drummers of ALL TIME so kids that put dumb comments up about someone why dont u listen and go to a show and get a cd and do some research on him first the guy is phenomenal on the drums thank u for that comment that was sweet man thanks fucking god
I just went to a Sevendust concert last night and he beats the shit out of his drums hahaha. At one point he was just smacking his snare as hard as he could letting it fly to the ceiling hahah. He puts on a good show. I swear he went through about 50 drum sticks though.
wow some of u guys are dumb hes playing songs not doing solos he's obciously going to repeat the same beats over u dont change beats and tempos in songs it would sound retarded
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
idk wtf every one is talking about...this is an average drummer...if not less. And wtf is with ppl mentioning blast beats n shit, you guys know nothing about any drum techniques lmfao
Nobody should have to explain why this video is awesome. Contrary to popular belief, blast beats at high tempos are not the only way to play metal. Just because he doesn't have gospel chops doesn't mean he isn't worthy of a Pearl endorsement. Morgan is a great DRUMMER, not a great showoff. He flatters the music not his ego. Do they teach passion at Berkelee? PS, there is so much Shannon in this performance it's not even funny.
i'm not trying to hate or anything...no offense, but this is pretty sad...what skill am i exactly seeing here? continuous hitting of the Cymbals? some ridiculous repeated beats. Sounds like a 10 year old drum for real, i'm sorry. i've seen sooo much better drummer. All he has is hard hitting, thats in my opinion
Well for one, he is in time which is really all you need in the type of band Sevendust is. But, Morgan Rose is one of the best hard rock drummers out there because he uses a variety of beats and accents with the cymbals. Oh and I am NOT saying he is the best, at all. hahahaha
this guy is fucking amazing sevendust best band out there period have always stayed true to what they are doing hence changing labels from tvt to winedark and now 7bros and asylum they are fucking great and what an amazing drummer holy shit
He's definitely got an unorthodox play style...I mean, he flails around more than Andrew W.K., but he really gets the job done. Not to mention he does vocals while playing, and he does both flawlessly.
suffocate is the song i saw them at austins saloon in libertyville may 13th and they played this song dude travis barker is a good drummer but this guy is fucking phenomenal, flawless, and marvelous and a cool ass mother fucking person as well. Sevendust is the greatest band.
hey wildmanhawkes playing drums is not about trying to sound exactly like another drummer. its all about your own style.. you can have influences but like i heard ian paice say before its about its all about you and your band playing.. whatever your comfortable with play that way.. and lastly dont even bring up that this drummer is better than that drummer shit.. that is the dumbest fuckin shit i have heard. you're not trying to be better than another drummer my god.
THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!!! lol finally someone who makes sense, i hate it when people are like "dude this guy sucks joey jordison or derek roddy is way better" i hate when people do that, its like everyone has their own style, and honestly in this vid, you cant say that this guy isnt that great just cause of this song, this is probly one of their easiest songs ever to play, morgan is way better than this song off the set and in other songs, the dude doesnt practice either
im a fucking huge fan of sevendust especially morgan rose. he is an awesome drummer and he is not ugly. he is the most versitile drummer i have ever heard in the last 10 years. so dont fuck with a sevendust or morgan rose fan.
haters, haters, oh and more haters!!! morgan rose is one of the sickest drummers alive. so get off his nuts and post a vid of ur own if u think u can do better!!!!! 7D is one badass metal band. oh and listendudeok, there is no such thing as real drumming. different styles of drumming comes from different styles of rock genres from rock 'n' roll to heavy/death metal. dont say shit if u kno u can make more money than him.
by your comments it is odvious that you listen to a small percent of the music that is out there. i have been playing for about 35 years and have a BA in music from berlee and i also know what i am talking about. i have seen kids in high school that blow him away. so it is not a question of me playing (and i know i do) better as you stated, it is a question does he inspire me and the answer is yes. he does inspire me to not play like him.
You know what.. I think you guys should shut up and just look at the passion that this drummer has.. morgan rose is such a cool drummer to be inspired!! and he can play music andnot just do boring stuff like all those "technique freaks" do. Ofcourse technique is important and all I agree also! but hey!! the music comes first! and you can tell from morgans face on this video that he's having a blast! So just respect him!
being taught music does not necessarily constitute being a 'know it all'. i assume you mean berkelee? if it really is berlee, i dont have any knowledge of why you would brag about that. by your comment, i can see that you use your 'experience' to prove others wrong. sorry lad, but i know drummers who have been playing for 35 years, that have not progressed past alfred's beginning drumming book. how did i KNOW that i would find dave garibaldi videos on your list?! you guys are just too easy
you are right,i am not a know it all and i am sorry i did not check my spelling before i posted my response. berkelee is the right spelling and i should have used or had someone prof-typing in my response. there-for "may my balls be infested with fleas of a 10,000 camels."
ok, so wrote my quote at 4am in the morning but i still think he sucks. by the way i teach out of ALFREDS BooK. if you want a challenge, play everything with the left lead and not the right.
@wildmanhawkes u have a degree in music from berklee u said.dream theatre has degrees in music and they blow donkey or their drummer wouldnt have left to play in my cousins band.please shut the fuck up.if u were that good you would be playing in front of 20,000 people, not in a class room.morgan rose is very good, maybe not the best, but my fav.talk shit after u have accomplished more than him.by the way u spell 4 shit.did you skip english in college.
if you like the top-heavy feel great but it just doesn't groove for me. Bonham showed us all how it should sound and morgan rose just isn't there. in the studio i am sure that the engineer turns his overheads down and the bottom (bass drums) up. yes i have heard him on more than one song and i stand by what i said earlier. if you want to hear just how good someone is take the mics away. how does it feel? no effects no nothing just drums.
he sucks!!! very top heavy with no bottom. he is building his beats from the top down not the bottom up like john bonham so that is why it sounds out of balance,is doesn't rock.
ok i respect your opinion and what not i also think that his shit is easy, BUT this is only one song, this is one of their easiest songs to play, the whole seasons album is pretty much like this, if you listen to 7dusts newer stuff there is more double bass diddles and what not
Just watched a video on Bobby Jarzombek. The dude does rock the kit. My only take would be that he seems to be the Paul Gilbert of drummers. "Technically" nobody can touch him, but if you watch any of Paul Gilbert's solos... they are dry, there doesn't seem to be feeling there. Not a knock on Bobby, every player has their style and he has mastered his. VERY technically acurate.
How can you say he is horrible my friend? He would not be where he is today if he was horrible and if you can do so good why are you wasting you time slandering Morgan Rose?
Can anybody tell me which Snaredrum that is ? It sounds awesome !

first: sir alien freak is far above average.
second: metal is most certainly more than blastbeats and morgan def has passion. good comment.
third: completely, entirely, substantially different style and superior intensity than shannon larkin, whoever said that dumb shit.
godsmack is ok, but could never touch sevendust in any way
milo1288 3 years ago 3
dang, hard hitter!
AnthraxGoodybag 3 years ago
I just went to a Sevendust concert last night and he beats the shit out of his drums hahaha. At one point he was just smacking his snare as hard as he could letting it fly to the ceiling hahah. He puts on a good show. I swear he went through about 50 drum sticks though.
KyleNaville 3 years ago
I think he has to have new cymbals every two or three giggs!!!
w9jon 3 years ago
wow some of u guys are dumb hes playing songs not doing solos he's obciously going to repeat the same beats over u dont change beats and tempos in songs it would sound retarded

idk wtf every one is talking about...this is an average drummer...if not less. And wtf is with ppl mentioning blast beats n shit, you guys know nothing about any drum techniques lmfao
Jakedrummer108 3 years ago
lmfao!1! suck a dick. He's just an average drummer that won modern drummer of the year for 3 years in a row. Idiot. lol
zackomac 3 years ago 2

All he has is hard hitting, thats in my opinion
gundiboy23 3 years ago
Well for one, he is in time which is really all you need in the type of band Sevendust is. But, Morgan Rose is one of the best hard rock drummers out there because he uses a variety of beats and accents with the cymbals. Oh and I am NOT saying he is the best, at all. hahahaha
herostyle 3 years ago
Oh, and this isn't a clinic in which he is just soloing his ass off.
herostyle 3 years ago
Not trying to hate or anything, but your opinion's wrong.

Good old aggressive drumming- just how it should be! by god i feel sorry for whoevers house he lived in while he was practising!!!
w9jon 3 years ago
He's definitely got an unorthodox play style...I mean, he flails around more than Andrew W.K., but he really gets the job done. Not to mention he does vocals while playing, and he does both flawlessly.
aerosilver 3 years ago 3
suffocate is the song i saw them at austins saloon in libertyville may 13th and they played this song dude travis barker is a good drummer but this guy is fucking phenomenal, flawless, and marvelous and a cool ass mother fucking person as well. Sevendust is the greatest band.
mikepacemaker38 3 years ago
yo wat song is this?
Dynamite403 3 years ago
that song would be suffocate which is fucking bad ass life...
bearsdl59 3 years ago
hey wildmanhawkes playing drums is not about trying to sound exactly like another drummer. its all about your own style.. you can have influences but like i heard ian paice say before its about its all about you and your band playing.. whatever your comfortable with play that way.. and lastly dont even bring up that this drummer is better than that drummer shit.. that is the dumbest fuckin shit i have heard. you're not trying to be better than another drummer my god.
samg789 3 years ago 2
THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!!! lol finally someone who makes sense, i hate it when people are like "dude this guy sucks joey jordison or derek roddy is way better" i hate when people do that, its like everyone has their own style, and honestly in this vid, you cant say that this guy isnt that great just cause of this song, this is probly one of their easiest songs ever to play, morgan is way better than this song off the set and in other songs, the dude doesnt practice either
knreal 3 years ago
im a fucking huge fan of sevendust especially morgan rose. he is an awesome drummer and he is not ugly. he is the most versitile drummer i have ever heard in the last 10 years. so dont fuck with a sevendust or morgan rose fan.

haters, haters, oh and more haters!!! morgan rose is one of the sickest drummers alive. so get off his nuts and post a vid of ur own if u think u can do better!!!!! 7D is one badass metal band. oh and listendudeok, there is no such thing as real drumming. different styles of drumming comes from different styles of rock genres from rock 'n' roll to heavy/death metal. dont say shit if u kno u can make more money than him.
uRbAnNiNjA02 3 years ago
by your comments it is odvious that you listen to a small percent of the music that is out there. i have been playing for about 35 years and have a BA in music from berlee and i also know what i am talking about. i have seen kids in high school that blow him away. so it is not a question of me playing (and i know i do) better as you stated, it is a question does he inspire me and the answer is yes. he does inspire me to not play like him.
wildmanhawkes 3 years ago
You know what.. I think you guys should shut up and just look at the passion that this drummer has.. morgan rose is such a cool drummer to be inspired!! and he can play music andnot just do boring stuff like all those "technique freaks" do. Ofcourse technique is important and all I agree also! but hey!! the music comes first! and you can tell from morgans face on this video that he's having a blast! So just respect him!
DeadSuspect 3 years ago
being taught music does not necessarily constitute being a 'know it all'. i assume you mean berkelee? if it really is berlee, i dont have any knowledge of why you would brag about that. by your comment, i can see that you use your 'experience' to prove others wrong. sorry lad, but i know drummers who have been playing for 35 years, that have not progressed past alfred's beginning drumming book. how did i KNOW that i would find dave garibaldi videos on your list?! you guys are just too easy
incubrian 3 years ago
you are right,i am not a know it all and i am sorry i did not check my spelling before i posted my response. berkelee is the right spelling and i should have used or had someone prof-typing in my response. there-for "may my balls be infested with fleas of a 10,000 camels."
ok, so wrote my quote at 4am in the morning but i still think he sucks. by the way i teach out of ALFREDS BooK. if you want a challenge, play everything with the left lead and not the right.
wildmanhawkes 3 years ago
@wildmanhawkes u have a degree in music from berklee u said.dream theatre has degrees in music and they blow donkey or their drummer wouldnt have left to play in my cousins band.please shut the fuck up.if u were that good you would be playing in front of 20,000 people, not in a class room.morgan rose is very good, maybe not the best, but my fav.talk shit after u have accomplished more than him.by the way u spell 4 shit.did you skip english in college.

morgan rose is a great drummer hes solid in the studio and dosent miss a beat.

Who's dick did this guy suck to get sponsored by Pearl? I would have hated to follow him after that blistering solo!
budz73 3 years ago
if you like the top-heavy feel great but it just doesn't groove for me. Bonham showed us all how it should sound and morgan rose just isn't there. in the studio i am sure that the engineer turns his overheads down and the bottom (bass drums) up. yes i have heard him on more than one song and i stand by what i said earlier. if you want to hear just how good someone is take the mics away. how does it feel? no effects no nothing just drums.
wildmanhawkes 3 years ago
he sucks!!! very top heavy with no bottom. he is building his beats from the top down not the bottom up like john bonham so that is why it sounds out of balance,is doesn't rock.
wildmanhawkes 3 years ago
ok i respect your opinion and what not i also think that his shit is easy, BUT this is only one song, this is one of their easiest songs to play, the whole seasons album is pretty much like this, if you listen to 7dusts newer stuff there is more double bass diddles and what not
knreal 3 years ago
Ok...I just watched two other videos by them...seems like classic nu metal, korn-style. Well, absolutely not my thing, but who cares.
Look for Bobby Jarzombek for real drumming please (youtube).
Listendudeok 4 years ago
Just watched a video on Bobby Jarzombek. The dude does rock the kit. My only take would be that he seems to be the Paul Gilbert of drummers. "Technically" nobody can touch him, but if you watch any of Paul Gilbert's solos... they are dry, there doesn't seem to be feeling there. Not a knock on Bobby, every player has their style and he has mastered his. VERY technically acurate.
dhjtrue 4 years ago
How can you say he is horrible my friend? He would not be where he is today if he was horrible and if you can do so good why are you wasting you time slandering Morgan Rose?
