  • Where is the MSND ballet?

  • Absolutely beautiful, great music to go jogging to!

  • To Aristopus. Correction: Mendelssohn was born in 1809; Chopin & Schumann in 1810; & Liszt in 1811. What a galaxy! Kingsott

  • What a hideous advert you have rolling across the screen. Quite ruins the music.

  • Music is there to be listened to. The video doesn't matter.

  • so rimsky-korsakov heard those opening chords and then wrote Scheherezade?

  • Mendelssohn and Chopin were both born in 1810, way ahead of Rimsky. Even so you can't copywright opening chords.

  • Why can't we all just enjoy the music? We don't need to know certain languages to listen to this masterpiece

  • Beautiful music!! Thank you Mendelsohnn, and Berliner!

  • @ocramizz and furtwangler

  • Thank you soooo much for this! I have always loved Furtwangler's warmth and musicality, and this is yet another great treasure of his. Thanks for posting.

  • AAAA.011655Z NOV 2008 Thank you for posting, very nice indeed....What on earth these idiots are having a slanging match for I do not know ? Just listen to the music.......AR.

I will continue in English. I think his failing was his remarkable political naivete in not understanding that compromise was impossible with the Nazis. Most Germans had to stay in Germany regardless of their beliefs, but F. was in a position to get work elsewhere. Non-Jewish Germans such as Lehmann and Dietrich

  • @Raggedy9

In Fact Furtwängler tried to get work in USA but was rejekted in the last moment.

He was dismissed as Chief for the German Opera in Berlin because of his support to the jews.

    Greetings -

    Gruss

  • @IAMWONDER . . . who refused to work under the Nazis provided hope and comfort to the enemies of fascism; famous artists who remained were useful propaganda for the Nazis whatever their beliefs. I find it strange to hear F. referred to as "one of the most important GERMAN conductors." Art transcends nationality; he was one of the great conductors, period. If F. thought of himself as a German first, it betrays how insidious nationalism is, and explains his (lack of) action.

  • I hate to break it to you, but not everyone on YouTube is American, love.

  • HAHA! Wow someones a Bigot.

  • How about you go learn facts before you spew BS. "The majority of Europe speaks English"? What kind of BS is that?

  • Absolutely beautiful! I just love this song. And I agree that this is a masterpiece :)

  • Glorious.

  • Incredible music; moreover, he composed this when he was 17!?!

  • III.i "I see their knavery; this is to make an ass of me." :)

  • Mendelssohn's masterpiece.

  • One of the most inspired works of creative genius I know.

  • A true ingenious masterpiece.

  • Mendelssohn's masterpiece!
