Awesome video, first year medical student in the states and they mention it all the time in neuroscience but I was having a difficult time imagining what this looks like. Thank you very much.
I thought that too...but then if right part is damaged, the left should be more "powerful" and the slow phase should go opposite, so right...but in this case we have the fast phase which goes to the right. So I guess the left part is damaged (if it is a damage of VIII nerve)
if you try purposely blinking does it help the strain because i've noticed that ppl with nystagmus seem to have lost the ability of the muscles to blink. try blinking continually while reading to see if improves.. might build back up the blinking muscles. just like a bicep needs to purposely lift weight to get strong the eyelid has to blink to maintain its strength.. after you stop repetitiously blinking, you'll notice a relaxed tendency to blink more often.. blink to the left and blink to th
@MrWhatthehell691 Little asswipe. I have had this from being a baby and never been bullied once about it. Reason being that when I came across someone like you I used to smash their fucking face in.
Nystagmus is not necessarily an lness though. There are 2 meanings to nystagmus - One is a normal physiological process Another - is a pathologic process symptomatic of a neurological condiction, intoxication, etc...
@maxf365 i feel for you... i wouldnt like to have nystagmus... but remember LIFE IS A BALANCE , it takes from us somethings but it gives us others :) smile
The nystagmus for LSD and PCP are temporary effects which last for only a short time after ingestion (generally during the primary effects of the substance). There is no evidence in the medical literature to suggest there is any long term nystagmus caused by LSD. I'm not as familiar with the medical literature on PCP, so I don't know definitively that the same is true for PCP, but I have never heard anything to suggest that they nystagmus caused by PCP is permanent.
Vestibular periferical disturbances produce only horizontal nystagmus that are always in the same direction regardless the way you look. The fast phase defines the way. Nystagmus produced by CNS disturbances are multidirectional; vertical nystagmus are always pathologic and mean a CNS alteration.
She has a right direction nistagmus. Coz she moves faster her eyes to her right part. She could have Acute Peripheral Vestibular Syndrome (APVS) afecting her left vestibular nerve.

Do they view the movement in which their eyes are moving? Or do they have a motionless point of view?

Some medications, such as antiepileptic (Tegretol, I think), and neurological disturbances.
