@kwazykilla87 I have a recon 1 and from heavy use my coating was coming off so I used some sand paper and got it off, think Jeff did the same to his recon 1 tanto
So i just bought a recon1 and i want to remove the teflon coating to have a polished blade. Would this stuff work since that coating is crap anyway, i know i would probably have to buff for a while with a larger amount and hard pressure but would this do the trick?? help please thanxs
hey cutlerylover, so i have a crkt m21, and it got a nasty scratch in the blade from a little accident while trying to sharpen it on a stone. will flitz take care of this scratch?? great vid btw
Hey this is what the back of mine says? Is this one any different then yours? -No Abrasives... -Non-Toxic... -Non-Flammable... -Acid-Free... -No Residue

You Mention Countertops, Appliances, And Serving Pieces; Is Flitz Safe To Use On Surfaces In Contact With Food?
Yes, Flitz Polsih is completely non-toxic. It has USDA approval to use on surfaces in a food preparation area. Flitz can be safely used on serving pieces, such as silverware, without any danger. After polishing, just wash the piece in warm soapy water and dry off as usual. The Flitz will not leave any flavor or smell behind.
Hey Jeff, I just wanted to let you know [although you may already know this] and to everyone who watches this that, this polish, Flitz, is what is actually used at Spyderco. Its not a harsh abrasive, yet cleans the steel really well. So just an FYI, usually when the company itself uses it, theres a reason for it.
will this product show minor scratches if I use it on only parts of a blade that already has a mirror polish from the factory? Or will this create a mirror polish by itself and therefore blend right in?
this product is the best it uses a micro diminishing polish that is below the us standards for abrasiveness and it is USDA approved so you could eat it if you wanted to this will make your polished surface look much brighter. if this retard would have read the tube he would know that it is used by the military and is non toxic and if it was toxic he would probably have burns by now. this is the best you could find and it never goes bad.
"stain less" lol, stainless steels dont rust as easy but they can and do rust if not taken care of.,..certains stainless steels cant rust like H1 that spyderco uses, but most cna rust..
Your horrible sharpening technique should not leave scratches as you should be using a super fine grit near the end of your sharpening regimen. So basically if you have scratches.. polishing with a stone can also get those out.
I'm not sure as I don't use the product and don't like these kinds of products. I would personally use a super fine grit sand paper with a little water to buff that out.
@cutlerylover Actually, Titanium is higher on the Activity Series than Iron, which means that it oxidizes faster and is more reactive than steel. Albeit, Titanium Oxide does not have a distinctive color like Iron Oxide (rust), so it is not noticeable, but it is there.
However, FLITZ IS NOT TOXIC. FLITZ IS PERFECTLY SAFE TO USE ON YOUR KNIVES EVEN IF YOU USE YOUR KNIVES FOR FOOD PREPARATION. The ingredients are inert (so they can't hurt you) and the product has the USDA stamp of approval on the packaging.
Great videos. Thanks. Are some blades clear laquered and dont need abrasive polishing or have I been misinformed? Its a Puma and a Normark Rigid, both unused but I would like to polish out some small scratches, but wonder if blades are coated. Both are 6025 Stainless. Thanks.
I used mothers metal cleaner, get it at walmart for about $8, But that was about 7 years ago, then i found out it was way to harsh, but I've been getting Flitz ever since and it's awsome. great review.
To the man in the video Flitz is non toxic. Actually it carries a USDA authorization las t I knew. This is part of the reason most knife manufacturers package a sample with there knives. Actually you need to get a facts sheet from Flitz. they are huge in the Food industry. The dirty paper is called oxidation all metal does that do not know of any surface Flitz cannot be used on. I would be more than happy to educate anyone to the usues for Flitz. Flits is biggest in the Firearms industry.
ya man i feel you and the almost cutting off a chunk your thumb thing, did the same thing to my finger. Also just wondering what knife are you using in this vid, and were can you buy one? thnx

A nasty scar on my thumb, when I was 10 years old I used a very sharp knife to try to open a baseball up, lol slipped on the round surface and sliced a hunk almost off the side of my thumb, I never told my parents in fear that they woudl take my knife away so it scarred, it should have gotten a stitch or 2 but never did, Im glad it never got infected...
This vid inspired me to take apart and thoroughly clean out my Leek. Thanks for making me think of that :p. It opens so much better than it used to now
NO, peope say flitz is ok for food prep, but from what I read any metal lube like tuf-glide or militec-1 or similar is NOT ok to use on knives you will prepare fod with...
k cause on rat cutlery's website they say to use tuf glide or tuf cloth on their knives to clean yet they are sposed to be survival knives... i assume that means food prep in there somewhere
Well I am sure with the very little residue left it woudl not kill you to get it on food, but if you help it I woudln't...for surevival it wont matter much since your life is at risk...But for average use you might just want to play it safe...
haha, well I use to, not scurrently...sorry, I find I cna open a folder or balisong just as fast as any switchblade and these days prefer the simplcity of a mnaul folding knife...
haha, I use to own a Microtech Halo, it use to scare me!!! it came out with such a big snap and it didnt have a safety either just a big button on the top f the handle...sweet knife though!!! It was also featured in the tv show 24...
oh thats cool! yeah there was this one i saw at the sportsman show and when the guy hit the button it sounded like a gun one of the LOUDEST clicks/snaps ive ever heard! amazingly loud the spring in there aparently was one of the biggest you could fit in there suposidly but it was like wow..
Enjoy the videos very much. I've used flitz, also simichrome, which is harder to find but very similar. Wonder if you have ever used flitz on hard plastic handles? Won't work on mat finishes, but I've used simichrome and flitz to polish up hard plastic pens and other items besides metal. It removes scratches and brings out a glossy shine.
I bought a tube of Flitz at a gun show WAY more years ago then I will admit to, that stuff lasts a LONG time. Just like some of my oil kits, I keep my Flitz in a baggie with patches of old T-shirts. It seems the more I use the cloths, the better they get. Flitz is a great product. It cleans up the brass on my Buck folders and makes them look brand new. I had orginally bought the tube to use on stainless steel firearms, but I am too afraid it will screw up the brushed finish.
Bead blasting doesnt protect the blade at all. Its actually the worst finis to have for rust prevention. BB is just the easiest method for a uniform finish.
I see, your right, now that I think if it its a treatment instead of a finish, in other words a meatl finish instead of somethgin seperate thats added to the metal...That woudl explain why alot of kershaws model with the BB finish often has spotting...
Yeh basically your making millions of minute dents with the beads onto the surface of the metal. The reason why it rusts is because moisture can be trapped much easier into these "pores". Ass opposed to the opposite - mirror polish which has a nearly smooth surface with barely any pores for moisture to get trapped in. I also polish my bead blasted blades lightly so these pores are smaller.
Not at all, you brought up an important fact! I had made a mistake in the video and I am VERY happy you called me on it, Im only human but the fact that there are other knowledgable people watchign ym, videos and maybe correcting any mistakes makes it much better for the peope learning! I appreciate it very much! really!

But ANYWAY, I'll have to get some of that stuff to help smooth out all the light scratches my knives have accumulated over the years
I'm guessing yes as long as you don't use them to cut food. They have no coatings on the blades, so those would probably really benefit from a polish.
Wait wait wait haha you told me to use this on my kershaw cyclone... But in this video you said not to with kershaws like that? Should i still get it and use it? I just want to make sure before i do it haha
Yes, I am sorry for the cnfusion, in this video I mentione bead blasting, but I was a bit confused and said not to use it on that, but bead blasting is not a coating...its just the finish on the metal, sorry for the confusion, its ok for your cyclone...there is no coating on your blade...

The knife is $8, they dotn sell just the flitxz polish, but they sell a care kit thats like $25 but it has EVRYTHING you need to keep your knife nice!
Its just metal polish, Its just I am sure you don't see people use it on knives thats all, its the same process as peopel do to their cars...like they use a buffing wheel and some buffing liquid or paste and geta nice finish on it, thats all...
p.s. I know you ddint know but please try not to use foul language in the future ok, soem younger kids watch ym vids, thanks!
lol, its a CRKT rollock, I have a video on it, there is a black and a blue on left on eknifeworks for only $8!!!!!! if you get them on ebay they will cost more like $15-$20...
