  • i dont understand ...they say dont do stressfull exercises, but you need to do tendon exercises and stretches....WELL I did alot of strecthes and at first it loosen up my foot where It had more movement, but after I woke up after doing streches the pain was significantly worse then before! so yea I dont understand?

  • This is what i have been diagnosed with.

  • Some good advice here especially the eccentric loading. I can also recommend the book “My Achilles Heel: How to overcome Achilles Tendinopathy” it’s worked for my long term condition.

  • If anyone of you have swelling, check your uric acid. My uric acid was high 700+/300 and the swelling lasted for months.

  • can i still play basketball with achilles tendonitis? It hurts when i jump, if i keep playing will it get worse?? But when i run it doesn't hurt only when i jump up with one foot and stretch it in the air it hurts

  • @Basketball3197 You should rest it from anything that aggravates it until you can play without pain. If you continue it will just get worse and can even lead to a rupture.

  • I have had Achilles tendonitis since may, had pain killers, now on the third lot, done the heel drops etc, tried ice packs but still no improvement. The scan showed swelling but no rupture. My GP says that they dont treat Achilles tendinitis with casts anymore but he has to contact the orthopaedic consultant at the hospital so I still don't know how it's going to be treated, my GP said rest and these other pain killers I go back on wednesday

  • Heel drops/heel dips are the only thing that work. No one knows why this pain occurs, what they do know is that there is no damage or inflammation. Yes, so,me people may have nodules, whatever, but heel dips are the first step, do NOT go the podiatrist/drugs/surgery route until you've tried heep dips for a few days in a row.

  • @openuniverse2003 i sprained my ankle 3wks ago( jumped/landed & rolled inward), swelling went down, nothin left but pain in the achilles when jumping/landing, pointing toes out, and abrupt stopping after running. My Doc gave me an aircast to stop my foot from rolling. I've got volleyball season coming up and cant play like i want because i can barely jump. So in edition to the heel dips, would the Achilles massages be a good idea too? thnx

  • @ashleyco07 Yes, massage to the whole ankle area, including the calf muscles, achilles and the damaged ligaments. This will help regain full ankle motion, break down scar tissue and return them to normal function.
