You can see first at :25 and then in the slow motion that the cyclist tried to avoid the pig, while the pig was deliberately targeting him. And then the pig had the corrupt temerity to allege that the "cyclist assaulted the pig" and arrested him.
This is why I laugh when I hear about pigs being killed.
At first I thought the cop simply reacted defensively by pushing away the cyclist in an attempt to not be run over, but having watched it a couple more times the cop actually increases his speed in order to catch up with the cyclist, who did try to avoid him.

Sorry.. this one I have issues with. the cop seemed fine with countless bikes passing. And the video was from one angle. We don't see the POV of the cop. So we have no idea what was coming at him. This is a serious issue with citizen journalism. Often times they will only release what the cops are doing. But not what leads up to that behavior.

You can see first at :25 and then in the slow motion that the cyclist tried to avoid the pig, while the pig was deliberately targeting him. And then the pig had the corrupt temerity to allege that the "cyclist assaulted the pig" and arrested him.
This is why I laugh when I hear about pigs being killed.

At first I thought the cop simply reacted defensively by pushing away the cyclist in an attempt to not be run over, but having watched it a couple more times the cop actually increases his speed in order to catch up with the cyclist, who did try to avoid him.

i don't see anything wrong with this if the cop is Canadian and playing NHL 11. It was the bikers fault he went really close to the curb(aka the boards) and was asking to be on highlight reals around the country. Let us not forget about Yusef Salaam and his four friends who were savagely tortured by New York City cops into confessing to a rape which they had nothing to do with. These innocent young black men each spent years prison just so the lying pig trash could receive credit for arresting them and making their faux cases stick. Thankfully the cop in this video was FIRED.
Just like normal people, an officer out in public has NO expectation of privacy, the law already decided that before any anti-cop-filming law was ever put into place.
And just because something was put into law where you live does NOT mean it's automatically the same everywhere else.

@Sojio Not anymore, the Supreme Court struck down ALL anti-filming laws in all states with it's recent decision that filming ANY "public official", whether they be Police or Politicians or City workers, if they work for the state, filming them is PROTECTED UNDER THE FIRST AMENDMENT, Freedom of the Press.
Essentially with the way media has changed, EVERYBODY is now a legal reporter and they're protected under the 1st Amendment.
Any cop that tries to change that is guilty of Rights Violations.

Filming ANY "public official", that means cop, politician, doesn't matter, if they work for the state it is now 100% LEGAL and 100% PROTECTED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT under the Freedom of the Press rules.
That also means that all the bullshit the NYPD just did against anyone holding a camera in the recent protests was 100% ILLEGAL whether the NYPD likes it or not.

Sorry.. this one I have issues with. the cop seemed fine with countless bikes passing. And the video was from one angle. We don't see the POV of the cop. So we have no idea what was coming at him. This is a serious issue with citizen journalism. Often times they will only release what the cops are doing. But not what leads up to that behavior.

I am a video editor. I know how easy it is to tell the story you want people to see. So I will never assume anything until I see the whole picture.

@TomboysTv Well I saw it on tv when they made the conclusion. I looked up this video bc I went to a critical mass for my first time last week. In my city we have them on the last friday of the month. Basically everyone said many riders were in the middle of the street and they all moved over as they approached the cops. The first few guys in the vid were closer, prob initiated the anger. The last guy was much further to the left but the cop already made up his mind.

The second thing is how the rest of the people are completely unresponsive. If this happened here in Portugal, people would flock to defend the citizen. My guess is people in the US fear the police, which is not good at all...but apparently with good reason.

@skydark Assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice eliminates many job opportunites. Drug testing is standard over here as well, it is not worth it. In United States it is better to let your friend go to jail, bail him out the next day, fight it in court. Litigation is the best way to go here, the guy got $65,000. He says he is a 30 year old pot head who lives in a community house. Wonder how that money was spent...

Well, in a way this also is a good example of how many cyclists are running to fast when going close to pedestrians... with someone crossing the road there, you should slow down - not swirl out and try to go by. When driving close to pedestrians you should slow down. Preatty much like a car should....
