  • Thanks for sharing this video. There is not enough of Pete Cosey's music available. Really great groove. I'd love to know what strings and tuning are on that guitar. Love it!

  • How old is Pete? I want to study guitar under him. Agharta side A and B is the most mind-blowing stuff I've ever heard. Love the guitar work he did with Muddy too. Outstanding stuff!

  • @SkymanBrother Pete was born in Chicago on 9 October 1943

  • @RedPetrol76 Thanks!

  • arugato!

  • I love Pete's unique string groupings. In what is typically the high E position, Pete has a heavy gauge string tuned to a low note. It's fun to watch how he uses it. You get lots of good examples in the last third of this video.

  • Pete for president

  • Luv Dis!

  • when was this recorded?

  • ahhh helll yeeeah!

  • what guitar is he playing?

  • Ok it's a ltd from esp with active emg pickups (if he didnt replace em).nasty!

  • That's some fat distortion. Great tones. What a beat! Thanks for posting. Like others here, I'm a noob to this guy's stuff. Glad I found it.

  • We Need To See and Hear More of Pete Cosey.

Both Live and Studio. New And Old!

  • @bmuhamad When did I say This?

  • this was great listening - thanks for sharing this.

  • We had a lot of fun at this gig! A lot of improv. The players: Pete Cosey on Guitar and assorted percussion and vocals, Melvin Gibbs on Bass, JT Lewis on Drums, Johnny Juice on Conga and Turntables. There was also a special guest Sax Solo by Dave Liebman.

  • thanks for the info!

  • @juicepopabitch When ever, y'all come to Los Angeles, I would luv, even pay to "sit in" w/ y'all. Peace

  • @bmuhamad We have no plans yet on L.A. but I'll bring it up to Pete. If anyone knows of a promoter who is willing to hook it up let me know!

    PEace

  • @juicepopabitch Kool!

  • @juicepopabitch U guys should come down here in taly sometimes!

  • @juicepopabitch I was wondering if you knew or could ask Pete what kind of synth he used on those Miles Davis albums. I was guessing a Buchla. My friend thinks it might be too so we are both curious. My friend is good enough to play with you guys too. You should see his torn apart and put back together customized DX7 monster. If you are ever in San Diego put me on your email list. I'm a snob but I'd get out to see you crazys. I love anyone who can play that wrong.

  • @cordedpoodle I'm not Juice, but I think I can answer your question about the synth Pete Cosey used with Miles. EMS Synthi. Do some snooping about on the internest and you'll come up with some info.

  • @juicepopabitch: Which one are you, Juice?

  • @juicepopabitch: Never mind. I just clicked on the "Show more" button and I see that you're the percussionist.

  • Didn't know that guy, sounds good (Is it the arkestra on yer profil pic ?)

  • thanks so much for posting. Pete is highly regarded by guitar players "in the know" unfortunately, he keep such a low-profile, not many know the man's music or his mad mad mad playing skills.
