Redevelopment gives you two options, continue playing at home while its done in stages, or temporarily play at another stadium. I'm a Saints RL fan and this season we relocated to Widnes, while the new ground is built. 3 weeks ago, we only got 6,400 for a non-televised cup game. We'd have easily got 10-11,000 if it was at our old ground. Where would EFC play if we relocated - Anfield??? In 93/94, the Park End was being rebuilt -we almost went down. We don't want a nice new ground 4 championship.
Nice video. I only get to Goodison once or twice a year now. The feelings walking up to are is amazing. When people claim it's a spiritual home, they do so because of such feelings.
Thank God Kirkby was rejected by in the end. What a disaster it would have been.
i would love to re develop goodison, keep our history going. if its not possible to re develop goodison then lets get the kings dock stadium plan back, ive heard today that there is already plans to build it a 52,000 seater because the kirkby stadium has been rejected. RE-DEVELOP GOODISON!
As much as I love Goodison, you have to admit it lacks the modern facilities that Citteh's ground have for example. While I can see why a redevelopment of Goodison would be convenient and rather nice, I personally think the money would be better spent on a new ground. Let's face it - one day we'll all wake up and everyone else will have big new shiny stadiums. I'm not saying this will be in the near future. But one day Goodison will be no good anymore - everything has it's day.
Funny how you use the word 'we' - are you an Evertonian ? I doubt it otherwise you would have gone out of your way to read ALL the evidence re Kirkby and realised that it is not viable for a Premiership club.
If you are an Evertonian I apologise but please make the effort to read all of the info out there. Even the die hard 'yes' voters have changed their minds now they know the facts.
Maybe you are naive and believe everything EFC says i.e Deal of the century, free stadium, best transport plan
tried to reply a few times-must have internal problems.Government decison is very close.I think the general opinion is that the planning application does not conform with national guidelines and should hopefully kill Kirkby off.A no = changes at borad level and we may find out what Sir Philip Green's involvement at EFC really is. He is a major Spurs fan after all. COYB
PS - What a waste of 3 years - we could have added a new tier to The Park End by now.Capacity up to 50,000 !
Everton need to move to a bigger stadium. Your an idiot if you think we can do it at the same cost as Kirkby taking into account we couldnt sell Goodison Park to clear some of the debt. Also we already left the City with the move again so im not to bother'd if we do again.
Im a Reds fan but i would like to see Everton Stay at Goodison. How many teams have left there traditional home after 100 years and been left with a plain, dull non atmospheric bowl, they all look the same! Yes time has caught up with the ground but why not refurbish & maintain it like Arsenal did before they left for the Emerites. Highbury was a classic ground along with Maine Road, Roker Park, Filbert Street, Baseball Ground, Ninian Park. Nice to keep hold of a bit of history for once.
We will have to agree to disagree apart from that, we MAY need a new stadium. Check out the loop again despite the original lies from Wyness and the other options. Kirkby is not free by a long shot, is not the only option and certainly not good enough for a club with our heritage and tradition of pioneering and innovation.Hopefully all of this will force BK to re-consider all the options and we can unite again.
Anyway we shall see what Ms Blears has to say.COYB.
Arsenal are in financial trouble paying for the stadium plus they moved all of 100 metres. Kirkby would be the furthest stadium away from the city of the club.
The whole thing stinks and is more about Tesco and Sir Philip Green then Everton FC.
Everton will be 9 Miles away from LIVERPOOL CITY Center. It will be less than 1 mile away from KIRKBY town centre which is still a town centre. If its major towns they you cant include teams like Wigan, Bolton, Burnley, Hull and so on in the list of teams closer to City centres. Goodison is a shit hole and no other option is as good. The loop would cost another £52M to get it to the surposed below par level of Kirkby. Further cost would be terrible for the club. Also Arsenals cost 5 time kirkby
thomo1126 - Please read all the info provided and you will see that we can spend money in stages over the years at Goodison. Tesco is not free and a mid range stadium at best.
We can redevelop in stages so no major initial outlay. Goodison will pass safety certs for years. New tier Park End will add 6000. See Tom Hughes plans on Toffeeweb.
Now Tesco Dome called in exclusive agreement between Tesco and Kenwright now void so open to offers.
I have heard it will cost us loads off cash to do up Goodison.. thats why Kenwright was all for the Kirkby move.. Just pisses me off that we have so much potential and no one will invest in us.. COYBs!!!!!
Roll on next Sundy..I,ll bet Yer shittin Yerselves....another Draw and you,ve got to come to Goodison for the Replay..or watch it in the Norweigan Pub
If u want to replace a stadium which is over 100 years old, survived 2 world wars and was played on by the likes of Pele, Eusebio and Ferenc Puscas of the famous 1960's Hungary side while she hosted 5 world cup matches including a semi-final.
Have u seen the JJB Stadium? All who aren't sure need to go to the Wigan away game, the away end may sell out but it's piss easy to get in with the home fans aswell.
It's such a rubbish stadium which is hidden away and over shaddowed by the other shops around it, the asda is about 2 or 3 times the size of the stadim, and the tallness of it hides the stadium aswell from ground level.
People learn all from their past and we were the FIRST team in the city why should we move ? Liverpool City Council did bend over backwards for the Kings Dock - Kenwright did not raise the 30 million needed. Even Arsenal chairman at time said he would give all his limbs for such a deal/location.
When will people learn, move forward and stop living in the past and at least you won't have to deal with liverpool city council that bends over backwards for Liverpool fc twats.
its not just goodison itself that will be missed if we move, the surroundings will be missed too. i mean i was shocked when my fav chipper burnt down outside the ground. i was at the oldham match when it happened and i was probally one of the last customers in it because we saw the smoke when we were just in the ground. i'll be devastated if we move.
i would rather see us go down and go up again preventing the move and then using promotion money towards getting a reconstructed goodison
i'm that against the move you know kenright i'm dissapointed in you we all know your an evertonian but i think you know deep down you are making a massive mistake.
if it effects the fans in liverpool, it will have a massive effect on the club. KEIOC
Obviously havent seen all the accounts have you. Redevelopment would be just as much as Kirkby just not Tesco funded, which i myself am totally against. The supermarket will be bigger than the stadium and Everton will fade into the lower divisions of english football.
We should redevelop but it's easier said than done

Exactly. Kings Dock was perfect. Kirkby would have been a disaster. 3 ways to go(or more now the nightmare is over):
i) Redevelop Goodison in stages so we can afford it.
ii) Clarence Dock/Loop again etc - Look for finance from Council.NWDA, Europe etc and still have leisure facilities
iii) Share on Stanley Park - the best stadium in the North. Could be amazing.
Anyway thank you to everyone who worked to stop Kirkby.
We can ALL now move forward united.COYB

Liverpool FC formed 1892.
Everton FC first team of Liverpool city.
We shall not be moved.
It is an absolutly disgraceful decision by Kenwright to even consider this move.
As said we were in Liverpool city before LFC.
Everton FC are named after the area of the city were we ehere originally based - Everton Valley.(St Domingo's Methodist church).

thomo1126 let's not name call.
Fact-Everton do not need to move to a bigger stadium. We cannot sell out the one we have.
Fact-no waiting list for season tickets.
Fact-new tier on Park End-cost approx. £20 mill-8000 new seats.Capacity at Goodison up to 50,000.
As for the comment re already moving out of the city-what ?
Fact-EFC played at Anfield then built Goodison. Both sites are in the city.
Kirkby-look at transport plan,design etc.
Do not be fooled by a glossy brochure.

Goodison Footprint bigger then St James Park - land-locked and now 55,000 and they are adding a new tier !
80 million plus now for Kirkby - spent on Goodison in stages.
Retail Park or our home - 1st club in city.
If you are against redeveloping Goodison then please check out all the info on
The Loop - easily big enough despite lies and HOK designers involved - One of best in world.
Walton Hall Park - Sainsdury's interested
Even sharing Stanley Park
Redevelop is my choice.
