I'm not surprised that Kay would leave Ester her 50% of the estate. I mean Ester worked hard to keep everything in order there and Ester has always been like family to Kay. Perhaps Kay wanted to make sure the Ester still takes good care of the estate.
Kay and Jill have been fighting over the estate ever since it's owner, Phillip Chancellor II died.
Even in death Katherine will never let Jill have the whole estate. I guess half of the estate is a good as Jill's ever going to get.
