Ok this sort of list is almost like "How long is a piece of string" having said that as somebody who was reared in the 60's I have found some of the "The Beatles" albums have not aged [exception "Revolver" still sounds great].
Unlike Dylan's which I still find invigerating .
Music is in the ear of the listner Pink Flyod Beach Boys or The Stones did nothing for me.
Where are the Kinks, Richard Thompson and giving U2 honerable mention while The Beach Boys at 19th ?
I think the best album of Frank Zappa is the Freak Out! and the Rolling Stones is the Exile on Main Street, also definitely missed the Forever Changes by Love, would rise on the list to The Velvet Underground and Nico for being a cult and avant-garde album and I think that might have entered the list Grace by Jeff Buckley

@HeavyD2544 Such opinions do not suck. Because they're personal, - they're not saying these are overall the world's best. And you MUST care, otherwise the video maker won't care for yours.

Right just because people discover an album that 95% of people don’t know about doesn’t make you interesting, clever, crazy ,unique or musically educated it just means you happen to discover something that you love and enjoy and are happy you found it. at the end of the day there is always goanna be albums and artist that you are never ever goanna hear of or listen to……so people please stop ranting on about discovering and not reading magazines its really stupid
Great list I like all of them apart from maybe a few, personal I think Dylan’s blonde on blonde or blood on the tracks shld of replaced love and theft. I love Syd Barrett nice to see him in there. But there is loads of great ones id of put in there and changed….but its your opinion so its all cool….

Very impressive!! im suprised to see Syd Barretts the madcap laughs on there octopus is a good song My only cpmplaint is that you didnt put in "Rumors" By Fleetwood Mac but again this video is about oppinion
Here are some of my favorites: The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle, Harry Nilsson - Nilsson Sings Newman, Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, Beach Boys - Pet Sounds, Anything By The Beatles, Carole King - Tapestry, George Harrison - All things must pass, John Lennon - John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, Mothers Of Invention - We're Only In It For The Money, The Violent Femmes (album), Nico - Chelsea Girl, The Velvet Underground and Nico, Bjork - Post
Abbey Road dam near last. No U2, police, doors, stevie wonder, micheal jackson, fleetwood mac, queen, war, or e,w& f? the host has awful taste in music.
@craigblast No he doesn't, this is a really good list! Sure, no U2 or FM, but who cares? Look at all the other brilliant albums!
@Robem69 I've no problem with the Beatles being at number 1, but I'd swap Revolver for the White Album or Sgt. Peppers. I'd also throw the Pixies in there somewhere...fantastic list all the same ;)
This list was made by someone who totally believed every rolling stone article ever. THINK FOR YOURSELF DUDE!! LISTEN TO SOME MUSIC THAT YOU DIDN'T READ ABOUT IN ROLLINGSTONE, OR SAW IT ON VH1, DUDE!!
Impressively eclectic - to have Zappa and Beatles on the same list. Only slightly disagree, Would put "Hot Rats" as highest for Zappa and "Sgt Pepper" as No 1. I know thats a cliche now - but , man, listen to the remastered CD on head-phones. Its so perfect it gives me chills. But Its all Great Apples and Great Oranges. Zappa is like listening to a mathematical puzzle and The Beatles just make you happy to be alive. VERY different experiences.
I know its your opinion, so it doesn't really matter, but c'mon, the highest Zeppelin is 38????? You sir, have a retarded musical palate. Any "Greatest Album" list needs at least 1 Zep album n the Top 10 just for some kind of credibility.
@Xnothinbetter2dewX Really? Wasn't Iron Maiden out in the 80s? The only reason I am asking is because usually bands get worse later in their careers. What do you think is better about later Maiden stuff?
Iron Maiden was out in the 80's, but they are a rare band that just gets better with age... technicality and song writing is amazing.. i seen them back in august..great..if you would like i could give you some names of songs to check out off recent albums..if you are a music fan and not afraid of 7-8 minute songs you'll enjoy them
@tjsson I bet not. In fact, all those artists he had up there wouldn't vote for Bush. Do you know anything about Bob Dylan? Or the Clash? Or John Lennon? You sir, are an idiot.
Nice list... I personally would have ranked Derrick and the Dominoes the best album of all time, followed by Dylan's Blood on the Tracks... Live Dead was a really good album, but I have a hard time characterizing anything other than being, literally, live at a Dead Show (which I've been to a number of) that high... Also, you left off any mention of Genesis... Why?They may have gotten pop/cheesy towards the end, but they produced some KICK @SS albums, from Trespass (1972) until Genesis (1983)
@TheWolvie450 Fuck you, Dylan is not famous for his voice hes famous for his outstanding lyrics. Maybe if u took some of your precious time to listen to a song like desolation row, or It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding, u would realise why hes held in such high regard. I hate people like u who know fuck all about him yet slate him idiot!!
Uncle Meat was the best Frank Zappa album.'The Hangmans Beautiful Daughter',anything by Laura Nyro and 'Blue' should've been in there too.Otherwise, not bad.
No one makes an album like Pink Floyd does (well, cept solo roger waters)... I find it borderline impossible to not listen to them from start to finish every time, all the songs flow together so nicely. There are never any filler songs.
Remember he said (IN MY OPINION)!!!!So if you dont FEEL HIS TOP50 is SUITABLE to your taste post your OWN!!!! I think I'll give him 4 stars for all his effort!!!!Plus I enjoyed Stones song!!!!!!
To some extent, yes (they weren't the greatest, or the only, rock innovators of their time). But you really have to give it to them - they seem to have the stars lined up for them, from the start.
Of course, they did change music, and im not saying that's a bad thing, but i think there are bands much better out there but still people obsess over the Beatles.
yes, they inadvertently created the shitty pop music of today. but at the same time, they created the music we loved through the 70s and 80s man. you cant hate them for that.
great parade!! if i were you i would have put 1: are you experienced-jimi hendrix 2:sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band-the beatles 3: outlandos d'amourà- the police 4:magical mystery tour- the beatles 5:houses of the holy- Led Zeppelin 6 house of ska- a tribute to madness- Madenss 7:the raise and fall of ziggy staredust and spiders from mars- david bowie 8: discovery: daft punk 9 pet sound: the beach boys 10: my generation the who
Excellent selection of albums here!! I would have put a number of them in different order . . . but it would be very difficult for me to pick any to remove from the list! I would have probably put Highway 61 at number 1 . . . Revolver at 2 . . . I would have had Springsteen's Nebraska album in the top 20 somewhere (somehow missed your list). All in all . . . very good selections!
This has been one of the best decades ever for music. Probably the best since the 70s if not the 60s. And I just can't continue to respect anyone who claims that the Beatles are overrated. I'm sorry.
@Toro953 Come now. No reason for that shit. If you take the time to actually listen to modern music you might find some insanely rewarding albums. You can't live in the past.
hey man, im all for some new bands like radiohead and muse. what im saying is that the majority of them sound the same and they are so repetitive in their music that i cant even tell them apart aside from their singer.
Still, in essence, you're missing out on some very good albums from this decade. See John Zorn or Sleepytime Gorilla Museum or, heck, even Devin Townsend, for details.
far too skewed to rock, what about jazz and classical too...and...and....and, definitely no thriller shite there thank god and Bruce ??, forget that..
totally agree. the boss? hes the boss of fuck all. liked a few of ur selections but found some 2 be a bit pretentious, any tom, DICK or harry could pull the majority of these off any "greatest album" list, total gash, get some originality about u.
This is his list, and given the artists and time period he prefers, Michael Jackson wouldn't belong on this list. Now, Thriller is a great album but you have to allow for people's taste on these things. He is presenting his favorite albums, and he's heavily influenced by 60s's-70's rock and roll.
fuck you, dickweasel, they're all great albums and either way it's down to personal taste. why don't you tell me your top ten so i can pass judgement on whatever it is you like?
you, sir, clearly have no knowledge of music; who hasn't heard of let it bleed and exile on mainstreet by the rolling stones (both of which are in the top twenty of this list), odessey and oracle was ranked as the 80th best album of all time on rolling stone's top 500 albums list, the bends was 110 and doolittle was on there somewhere, so people have heard of them, just because too much of a fucking idiot to have isn't my fault. automatic for the people is also very famous
also paul's boutique is by the beastie boys, one they're totally mainstream and everyone knows who they are, two it's actually listed on the description for the video under honourable mention.
Ok this sort of list is almost like "How long is a piece of string" having said that as somebody who was reared in the 60's I have found some of the "The Beatles" albums have not aged [exception "Revolver" still sounds great].

Most of it's kick-arse! Great choices. Great honorable mentions too. Wolfmother is a very different story however.

I know the beatles were the biggest band of all time but my favorite has to be The Cure.

No Creedence Clearwater Revival????

No one makes an album like Pink Floyd does (well, cept solo roger waters)... I find it borderline impossible to not listen to them from start to finish every time, all the songs flow together so nicely. There are never any filler songs.

Trout Mask Replica should be #1,but a great list all the same!

I love Trout Mask Replica especially if ur tripping out on LSD
luisexuperion 2 years ago
The Wall should be higher than 14, maybe like....1. Greatest album of all time.

I think Dylan shaped the beetles up and without Dylan they would of continued to drone out I want to hold your hand and I love you yeah yeah yeah.

Beatles are overrated.
prophetdude2 2 years ago
To some extent, yes (they weren't the greatest, or the only, rock innovators of their time). But you really have to give it to them - they seem to have the stars lined up for them, from the start.
Israfvel 2 years ago
Of course, they did change music, and im not saying that's a bad thing, but i think there are bands much better out there but still people obsess over the Beatles.
prophetdude2 2 years ago
even if you dont think they "sound" the greatest, music would not have evolved as it did without the beatles. they changed EVERYTHING.
Toro953 2 years ago
so... your saying that they helped create todays excuse for music? In that case The Beatles are a lot worse than i thought...
prophetdude2 2 years ago
yes, they inadvertently created the shitty pop music of today. but at the same time, they created the music we loved through the 70s and 80s man. you cant hate them for that.
Toro953 2 years ago
Couldn't agree more.

great choice for #1. long live the beatles!
ruskybalboa 2 years ago
Great choice, but for Frank Zappa albums you forgot You Are What You Is, all the ones you picked are great though.
LopanTheLemming 2 years ago
Excellent selection of albums here!! I would have put a number of them in different order . . . but it would be very difficult for me to pick any to remove from the list! I would have probably put Highway 61 at number 1 . . . Revolver at 2 . . . I would have had Springsteen's Nebraska album in the top 20 somewhere (somehow missed your list). All in all . . . very good selections!

You're living in the past, bro.

What the fuck is wrong with that?
snewlmd 2 years ago
Missing out on decades of extremely good music, for one.
edtpjp 2 years ago
Listening to this decade of utter crap (well, mostly).
Israfvel 2 years ago
This has been one of the best decades ever for music. Probably the best since the 70s if not the 60s. And I just can't continue to respect anyone who claims that the Beatles are overrated. I'm sorry.
edtpjp 2 years ago
This is one of the worst decades ever for rock, if we hold the multiplicity of great artists as an absolute value.
Israfvel 2 years ago
this has been one of the best decades for music? as in the 2000's? Get the fuck out of here man you have no place here
Toro953 2 years ago
@Toro953 Come now. No reason for that shit. If you take the time to actually listen to modern music you might find some insanely rewarding albums. You can't live in the past.
edtpjp 2 years ago
hey man, im all for some new bands like radiohead and muse. what im saying is that the majority of them sound the same and they are so repetitive in their music that i cant even tell them apart aside from their singer.
Toro953 2 years ago
@edtpjp get the hell outta here man
luisexuperion 2 years ago
Still, in essence, you're missing out on some very good albums from this decade. See John Zorn or Sleepytime Gorilla Museum or, heck, even Devin Townsend, for details.
Israfvel 2 years ago
Great taste in music!!! Highway 61 is a great album and one of my favourites too! but Blonde on Blonde is better! (and that's my poinion!)

not bad of a list but you forgot The Doors and you placed Wolfmother way too high on the list.
Schnellar 2 years ago
far too skewed to rock, what about jazz and classical too...and...and....and, definitely no thriller shite there thank god and Bruce ??, forget that..
donnyab 2 years ago
totally agree. the boss? hes the boss of fuck all. liked a few of ur selections but found some 2 be a bit pretentious, any tom, DICK or harry could pull the majority of these off any "greatest album" list, total gash, get some originality about u.
locorojo25 2 years ago
I like many of the same artists, but I'd have different albums and in differing orders. You have good taste. This is a daunting task.

Wheres Micheal Jacksons Thriller?
Walaument 2 years ago
This is his list, and given the artists and time period he prefers, Michael Jackson wouldn't belong on this list. Now, Thriller is a great album but you have to allow for people's taste on these things. He is presenting his favorite albums, and he's heavily influenced by 60s's-70's rock and roll.
Was Axis Bold as Love on the list?
Garret00074 2 years ago
1) Murmur- R.E.M
2) Let it Bleed- Rolling Stones
3) Doolittle- the Pixies
4) Paul's Boutique- Beastie Boys
5) Odessey and Oracle- The Zombies
6) The Bends- Radiohead
7) Exile on Main Street- Rolling Stones
8) Funeral- Arcade Fire
9) Automatic for the People- R.E.M
10) Magical mystery Tour- The Beatles

Fail. all wrong.
Walaument 2 years ago
fuck you, dickweasel, they're all great albums and either way it's down to personal taste. why don't you tell me your top ten so i can pass judgement on whatever it is you like?
lladsbid 2 years ago
lol. No one has ever heard of thoes albums you lised except for the beatles one.
Walaument 2 years ago
you, sir, clearly have no knowledge of music; who hasn't heard of let it bleed and exile on mainstreet by the rolling stones (both of which are in the top twenty of this list), odessey and oracle was ranked as the 80th best album of all time on rolling stone's top 500 albums list, the bends was 110 and doolittle was on there somewhere, so people have heard of them, just because too much of a fucking idiot to have isn't my fault. automatic for the people is also very famous
lladsbid 2 years ago
also paul's boutique is by the beastie boys, one they're totally mainstream and everyone knows who they are, two it's actually listed on the description for the video under honourable mention.
so fuck off, you know nothing wankshaft
