Awwwww....my husband was just singing this and I had to look it up. I remember when an African group came to my elementary school and taught us this song. ::sigh:: MEMORIES :-)
I used to LOOOOVE all of the little African songs and dances they did on this show. I was a little kid when this show first came out, so I didn't understand the cultural reference right away, but of course, now I do lol
Brings back SOOO many memories. Kids today don't have anything REMOTELY close to Gullah Gullah Island.
Do you think you can upload the episode where they act out the story of The Tortoise and the Hare? If you can find out, please upload it. Thank you, have a blessed day and God Bless You!!!
Do you have the episode when the grandma comes to visit. They sing this song that I love called "I've Been to Haarlem." If you have it please post it. Thanks.
I've learned that song when I was in 4th Grade and I had no Idea that they sung that song on Gullah Gullah Island. I learned it when we had people from Africa visit my old school from both Elementary School and Middle School
i danced to the real version at a show

@tinkerbell76225 ditto, I learned it in Kindergarten (circa 1991/92). I hadn't heard it since then until recently.
