@tplesnrd86 I had those white go-go boots and the long hippie beads too! And remember the grannie glasses and the grannie gown dresses! We actually got thrown out of school for wearing them! Wild fashions, body paint, flower power and all that stuff! Loved it!
@horsenaround I was 13 when this came out & only dressed up as a hippie on Halloween's. Would you believe that the 2 Sixth grade teachers wore miniskirts, barefeet, & granny glasses - in class?!?!?!?!?!?!? We were too young to be hippies, so when we came of age in like 1974, we tried to re-create the 60's in music & substances.
@wonderlin1 All the guys grew their hair really long, the girls wore miniskirts and roman sandals with laces all the way up the legs, we painted flowers on our faces and on our legs and even some girls wore those wide bell bottom pants to school! We all got kicked out so many times for going against our schools dress code, but we fought against it and won the right for girls to wear miniskirts and pants and guys didnt have to wear suit jackets anymore! We were true hippies!

Paul Wayne and The Wantells picked up Tommy Roe at Logan Air Port Boston....drove 200 miles to a record hop in holyoke mass ..backed him up on his hits.... Dizzy , Sheila, and oh sweet pea...what a night to remember...thanks tommy for memory....bill spencer 'DANTE '
This song brings toughest memory back to me; meeting this year two survivors of the holocaust.....whom told about those horrendous and sickening crime against Jews local Polish and others.........
Ahhhh. I'd just turned 14. Knew all the words and loved to put this 45 on after school and dance away and sing. A fave. Wish they still had some good music like the late 60s thru early 70s. Not a fan of disco. haha.

does anyone else wish lyrics to song were so simple and focused. when all life stressed you with was a look from a cute girl, dont here no shit like that anymore
This was a bit before my time. But I remember hearing it on an oldies station in about 89, and the announcer saying it was the first bubblegum hit after a few years of the air waves having nothing but hippie stuff. Well done, Tommy Roe!

Here comes another comment about age. I'm 22, and music from my generation is not about music, it's entirely about image.
It's sad, to think of what we've come from, to where we are now.
Let me leave you with this: 1960's mainstream = Beatles. 2010's mainstream: Justin bieber.

This was a bit before my time. But I remember hearing it on an oldies station in about 89, and the announcer saying it was the first bubblegum hit after a few years of the air waves having nothing but hippie stuff. Well done, Tommy Roe!
