Maybe it is worth slaving away at work for years to raise the money to get on the suites, becaues although they are cramped 14 hours in them would make Singapore London bearable.

I am proud to say the a 380s wings and parts of the engines were made in shropshire uk where I am from which used to be owned by rolls royce until they sold perkins off and if I am correct its run by a private company now but still has some ties with rolls royce of course like the engines wings etc as too many other parts of the plane too

lol there are altogether 2 main pilots but there is always a back-up pilot just in case. Then again, in a situation whereby there is only one pilot left, he is still able to land the plane.
The SQ A380 I took from SIN-LHR this morning had 2 main pilots and 2 senior first officers introduced at the start of the flight. Anyway - the big bird can do everything apart from the take-off all on it's own.

Having booked through Virgin Atlantic on their codeshare flight, only proper SQ passengers can book their seats. So, when yo get to check in, the worst seats are for VS passengers. Usually middle seats......so despite the fine service, I am not really convinced of getting any good seat at all.

Pitch is the same, as other airlines, and I am not sure about how confortable new seats are. The problem on the A380 is that travelling alone, I love window seats, but on only two seats rows as in the upper deck. Unfortunately, on the lower deck you have three seats rows, as unconfortable as the B747 or A340.
have you tried the new economy seat yet? im assuming you havent and your critiquing the seat off a video, which is different from seeing it up close. SQ new economy has the most legroom and amount of space then any other economy product. Not to mention the great Krisworld entertainment on a LCD screen. USB connections and for the first time Iphone and Ipod connectivity on an aircraft. Read all the economy seat reviews on skytrax. they all think its the best economy out there.
Yes its coach, but on Singapore Airlines they dont treat you as a cattle class passenger. They treat you as if your first. Economy may look the same on all airline (Thats why its called economy), but each airline has its own edge and a way to differentiate itself. On SIA economy, you get the great singapore service, great IFE, arguebly best food, great amenities etc. My friend, SQ's Economy is like First class on American base airlines.

I always preferred Airbuses. Surely Boeing, especially 747 made a giant breakthrough in transcontinental travel.

When did the joy of being in the air fall to luxury, I believe that just being in the air, is the ultimate privlage we've forgotten that For the record, the A380 wouldn't be what it is without the designing and creation of the Boeing 747! The 747 will never be replaced, they're less expensive to have built. Sorry, no such things is A380-800R. But a larger Airbus A380 (Airbus A380-900) will only shorten it range. Ultra-long flight aircrafts such as Airbus A340-500, Boeing 787, Boeing 777-200LR and Airbus A350-900R can fly as long as they can.

What this Aircraft in my opinion is trying to accomplish is the old school way of how people used to cross the ocean in large liners.
Those first class bed suites are probably about $30000US, but you get treated like gold

I always preferred Airbuses. Surely Boeing, especially 747 made a giant breakthrough in transcontinental travel.
However Airbus is more innovative in terms of introducing new technologies to aircrafts, making them safer, more efficient, and comfortable. Remember that A380 is 50% more quiet inside than 747, and the pressure inside is higher making passengers feel better.. it's a fair successor to 747.

When did the joy of being in the air fall to luxury, I believe that just being in the air, is the ultimate privlage we've forgotten that For the record, the A380 wouldn't be what it is without the designing and creation of the Boeing 747! The 747 will never be replaced, they're less expensive to have built. The 747 can travel faster But, I do admit, the A380 is great on the inside the pasenger dif. is just 139 people, so it's more efficent for the 747 to build and operate & w/ todays economy..

well my friend this is the way we as a society is seeing air travel, planes are basically luxury liners in the skies. Airlines cant stand still they have to move forward with innovations and ideas. And if offering luxury close to that of a cruise ship will bring in revenue for the airline, why stop it? As a society we grow and adapt, we cant stand still and ALWAYS rely on the old jumbo 747. 10-20 years from now, the new generations will just see the 747 as a thing of the past.

The 747 was something of the past, and now its time to move on to something bigger and better. You can all bitch, whine and hate all you want. The reality is that the a380 is HERE, and has kicked the 747 off of her stool. Really who cares about the a380 and 747, what matters the most is Singapore Airlines. I doubt any airline will ever offer such luxury.

Yes it can. Another Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 will fly from Singapore to London. That flight need 14 hours to reach it.

Sorry, no such things is A380-800R. But a larger Airbus A380 (Airbus A380-900) will only shorten it range. Ultra-long flight aircrafts such as Airbus A340-500, Boeing 787, Boeing 777-200LR and Airbus A350-900R can fly as long as they can.
