Davey uses a different screaming technique that is really raspy. I like it and it's all over DU. In concerts he'll "clothe" some of the lines with it to make it sound like in the early days. He can yell too but probably chooses not to do it for stuff like totalimmortal and God called in sick because it stresses his voice. The singing where he is supposed to be yelling ruins those songs but it has to be done so no serious damage occurs.
I like Crash Love way better than the scream albums like pre-STS. Once they started doing that I loved them. I really can't listen to anything before STS. I mean, STS may be on par with or possibly better than Crash Love but Dancing Through Sunday and the Leaving Song, I don't know if they're as good as just End Transmission, that was my favorite song of CL. STS is at LEAST as good as CL.
So that's why CRASH LOVE had no screams. Makes sense now =] But Davey still
screams a lot since he sings Miss Murder, Death of Seasons, and Leaving Song Prt.|| (and others that I can't remember) in their set-lists even now with GD.

As far as the "screaming" goes..His DU Screams didn't damage his voice at all.Screams are Distorted air projections from your diaphragm, your throat only controls the pitch (your throat has to be kept moist though, or else it will be damaged..being that Daveys a trained/experienced vocalist.I'm sure he didnt damage his throat or else he wudnt b touring) & his preSTS "Screams" were all yells.Hes 34 goin on 35 now..enough of the yelling, hes mature now; not Angsty.

Secondly, Great bands evolve, closed minded people don't.. would it be AFI if they released 3 more Black Sails in the sunset albums? Sure, it would physically be AFI; but it's not what they wanna do.. Put yourself in Davey's shoes, wouldn't you be the least bit tired of hearing those songs? It does matter, he can't sing anything before DecemberUnderground very well anymore... Some songs aren't performed because he can't sing them properly..
@DefBrif That is just simply not true, i saw them april this year they sang plenty of old songs perfectly, he can hit and hold the high notes as well as any record they have put out, he prefers a lower one now, but when he sings a range including the highs it is something amazing to behold.
The entire Crash Love album is a disappointment. I love AFI and will continue to love their other music,but I hope their future music will be more expansive in style. I don't care if people call DU "sellout" because the music they made on STS and DU has changed my life for the better,and Crash Love is merely a pop record that does not reflect the misanthropy, anger, and despair that AFI means to me.

@canesrule96 its not screaming that hurt his voice it was the yelling, thats why when he does live shows now he screams the parts that he yelled on the albums, such as the leaving song pt. 2... ive seen AFI live many times.
