Fantastic technique! I always struggled with digital painting when colour is involved (I get really into shading and the colour messes it up). I never tried the gaussian blur or the gradient map before. I just went in there with dodge, burn, and the smudge tool, hoping I didn't mess up too bad. I'll have to try these techniques out when I get Photoshop working again. Great music!

Its a great tutorial, I watched it as I practiced drawing and it helped with my drawing tremendously. The drawing looks more life like than my previous drawings done in Photoshop.

You are talented, yes. But the ear you choose to draw is not very attractive. Why didn't you choose a better looking ear - check out Kristen Bell's ears, they're perfect. Or Kristen Davis's. Or Angela Jolie.

Dude, its Photoshop. It says so right in the comments. He's also using a tablet, which is this SPECTACULAR little thing that simulates drawing on paper for use in digital art.
This, you have no idea how many times I've started something, didn't like the first draft and threw it out. I could've fixed it, even maybe started again on a new peice of paper or new file, and chances are I'd never run into these problems again. But I chose to be lazy, if I'd reworked the peices, I'd just be that much better right now.

very nice results but the title was missleading, that tutorial didnt teach me to draw an ear at all. It taught me to shade using an ear as the example.

Arg- ears are always THE WORST thing I draw! No matter what I do, they end up ugly, so I just avoid them at all cost!
But these "gaussian blur" things seem to be the best trick to making the shading look beautiful & realistic.

Une oreille c'est a la base super dur a faire, je pense que je ne peu même pas faire mieux avec un appareil photo et une véritable oreille. ;-)

Merci beaucoup ! Quand je l'ai dessinée, j'ai plutôt vu l'oreille comme une sculpture avec ses creux et ses reliefs, c'est peut-être plus simple que d'essayer de dessiner des formes.
