Nice to know we're right back into the cold war again. I wanna know how much good wiretapping our phones has actually done for us and how many terrorists have been stopped. And why are we spying on americans when we could be SEARCHING FOR BIN LADEN?????
TheToolDude the Federal Government has a duty and obligation to protect us.Keeping us safe means keeping our liberty, being safe equals liberty. If it was'nt for our soldiers, police protecting us and keeping us safe, then we would not be a nation of liberty.Next time your being robed, shot or beat see if you can handle it with out the government.
We have the 2nd amendment, we can keep ourselves safe.
The Federal Government and government as a whole has the job of protecting our rights, not sending everyone to jail. The buerocracies (FBI, Marshalls, and even state law enforcement)that they use to do this should be doing just that and not be the ones violating these rights.
If it is so that they do violate our rights who can stop them? and if you say the justice department i say lol.
You think Bill of Rights is the baseball player Bill Varietz and he plays second. I bet you voted for HitlerBush, and the rest of the neocons. I bet you are a rich white motherfucker who drives a fancy car or suv. I bet you believe that Saddam had wmds. Hopefully we will give a state up to make it like Nazi Germany and all you facist can live and stay there! Not everyone who commits a crime or robs someone gets caught. It is called checks and balances. Deal with it!
Still, I think most people in the CIA or FBI or whoever is doing these investiagtions have the greater good of North America in mind, seeing as they and their families and loved ones LIVE here, so I support redeeming this law.
I'd rather trust an American than trust a protnential terrorist, you know?
Then how come your buttbuddy HitlerBush supports sending our jobs overseas like to India? Are how come that I did not encounter Nigerian Spam emails until Bush was in office. What about cheney and his connection to nigeria? I guess you are one of those rich wealthy ignorant white male driving his suv. Why don't you move to Iraq and go fight the war that we shouldn't be in and stay there and don't come back. The law should be equally appled, either Get a Warrant or tough!
Take this bullshit ad off the air, it's showing up even here in Canada. Funny "Defense Of Democracies" supports something that basically degrades democracy. Soviet Russia spied on it's own people to 'protect' their sovereignty and millions died when they were deemed unpatriotic. Kind of scary how things are going these days.
no, better yet call them and cuss them out. put their number on bathroom walls at the exxon station (that will make dickhead cheney mad) junk fax them if you have a fax. Spoof you number like the telemarketers do. It is time for some thug justice.
They have uncheacked controle over the aconomy and we are supposed to think they aren't acting only in the best intrests of their investors? I'm not gullable. I know what fractional reserve banking is. It's a CRIME against those who save money.
The only terrorist are the ones brainwashed into your minds by our corporate fascist mediaocracy. 9/11 was such an inside job. The only real terrorist are the ones running our government.
Tell the House of Representatives to do its job. Tell them, do not vote for unconstitutional warrantless surveillance or unconstitutional ex post facto immunity from surveillance crimes.
Leave it to Republicans to make an interest group and name it something extraordinary, magnifying its importance 10-fold even though its real importance is only 1/4th (or less), if at all. The name sounds like it's a new vesrion of the Ford Foundation or Carnegie endowment for peace, for crying out loud!
It is 100% factual. So, for the looney left that thinks we don't need to avoid another 9-11: How do you explain the Senate Democrats that supported this?? The House Democrats simply are less responsible than those in the Senate and would follow Nancy Pelosi right off a cliff.
Yeah, this terrorist surveillance bill is so important to protect America that Bush has promised to veto it if it doesn't protect lawbreakers.
If Bush won't even sign the thing, he either knows that it's not important to national security or he wants to hurt our country by leaving it vulnerable to terrorists.
The worst part about it all is that this one and the one from the house republicans really just assume that you are too stupid to be able to tell the difference between reality and fantasy.
How is it patriotic to insinuate that we are unable to keep a watch on terrorists? How it is patriotic to say to the terrorists... "Hey, we have no way to stop you!" Congratulations Republican douche-bags, pseudo-patriotism at its best.
Lies, lies and more lies! Bush can already do warrentless wiretaps legally for up to three days under FISA, as long as he has a valid reason for the wiretap.
But no, what's important to him is telecom immunity, because if the telecom suits continue the administration will have to release the list of people they illegally wiretapped. The list of regular American citizens, not terrorist suspects.
First, it's a false dichotomy between freedom and safety. Suggesting you can't have one without the other oversimplifies the terrorist probrem and undermines just how capable we are as a nation. The oversimplification is a ruse bolstering the executive power grab.
Hello - this administration is made up of chickenhawk terrorists, hellbent of birthing the New World Order in 2010, or wheneve the 2005 NAU agreement states. That's why they have the NAU army being built now.
BTW - IBM and GE are 2 of the industries which enabled Adolf Hitler to trace and capture the Jews. Now they are spying upon all of us, reading our emails and listening in. Once #43 declares martial law, the game will be all over. The dissenters will disappear into awaiting cells.
Totally creepy. The big question is who is "Defense of Democracies"? Paid for by the US taxpayer by any chance, like the nasty coup-inciting, publically funded but privately run National Endowment for "Democracy"?
Not all the telecoms cooperated with Bush, one can boycott Verizon and the other ones who did.
A who's who list of failed Republicans, eh? Idiots who still think their view matters to people in the political arena even though it's been years since people STOPPED giving a shit. Gingrich needs to STFU already. I'm sick of listening to his arrogant little voice, acting like he knows all, and he's better than the other Republicans, a Republican "that can get thigns done." Or that he's not as partisan because he also focuses on thigns like fixing bureaucracy. He's nothin but a fool.
Jeane Kirkpatrick, Reagan Administration bullshitter on foreign policy. Jack Kemp, running mate of pathetic nominee in 96 Bob Dole. Steve Forbes, the economist owner of Forbes who no one really paid attention to in the first place when he ran. Louis Freeh, who gives a shit? Woolsey, a douchebag of a CIA director. I don't even know who the fuck Kampelman is. Oh, and whaddya know? It's Lieberman, the Democrats' Bushite! The only really stupid Jew in the Senate.
The only terrorist are the ones in your head. It is all a lie. The war in Iraq was a lie the war in Afghanistan was for building a oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea to the Indian Ocean. The only terrorist on the planet are the transnational fossil fuel corporations ho want to steal all the oil from Iraq and make the U.S. taxpayer pay for the false-flag war.
This is very much propaganda, oh man could you imagine if Stephen Harper put out an ad like this? Oh man everyone here would be up in arms and we'd kick him out of Ottawa so fast Rex Murphy would be covering it for the next two years.
Christ, this ad is dishonest. Rather than worrying about an Executive Branch that is literally cockslapping America in the face, Republicans want to spend more time figuring out ways to listen to your telephone conversations and read your emails. And they feel so strongly about this that they will stand up as one and walk out of Congress.
So here's an idea, House Republicans - next time you decide to walk out, don't bother coming back.
this terror survaillence doesnt expire till the end of the year, theyre just making a big deal about it so that they can pass this bill, which is ineffective.,
you believe we need this BS, you are a sheep to the slaughter. Trading our Liberty to protect us from 'terrorists' only mean they have already won. 'THEY' don't want you to be free, 'THEY' want to control you through fear. The only question is, who is 'THEY'?
Guess you haven't heard of FISA courts. Why does accountability scare you? What about following Consitutional due process makes you wet yourself in fear?
Maybe they should just get a warrant like they're supposed to. You know, a warrant, like those things that are supposed to prevent the government from spying on its own people under false pretenses or for any other bullshit reason.
Bull shit. And "nice" misleading organization name. I'm guessing the Defense of Democracies is NOT a Democratic organization, though initially it sounds like that.
Just like the "Patriot Act" "Defense of Marriage Act" "War on Terror" "War on Drugs" are all oxymorons... But you keep calling something what it isn't and eventually everyone believes it.
Both houses of Congress need to be cleaned out. Though I think you have that reversed. It's the Senate Dems that should be showing the cajones the House is. But for the most part, the Dems have been spineless bastards, which why they should nearly all be replaced.
Exactly correct!!! Everyone of them should be voted out. Trouble is, people almost NEVER vote out their own Congressperson. All of us are responsible for that calamity, and deserve what we get if we just keep re-electing them.
Are you serious?!?!? Is this what America has come down to? 521s scaring middle america into thinking that we CAN'T track terrorists? Are you Kidding me, The problem is they don't want to go the LEGAL route and make it easy for Big Brother to watch any and everyone. We've already seen what a little bit of fear got us, Warrentless wiretaping, datamining, Rendition, Tourture and the loss of our moral high ground around the globe. And now they want to make it law.... I'm ready for revolution
When it first came through it passed the House by 227 to 189
When it went through the Senate it passed by 68 to 29
The definition of overwhelming gives no numeric amount that must be met, but just based on my first feeling at looking at these numbers...not overwhelming...in the least.
380 to 36, even 300 to 116, 85 to 12, those would've seemed overwhelming...
Reminds me of the George Carlin skit when he talks about civilian contractors from Oklahoma getting beheaded in Iraq: 'Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em! You don't want to get beheaded, Jack? Stay the fuck in Oklahoma! Last time I checked, they weren't beheading people in OK.'
Like when my dad asks republicans, 'Have you been over there (middle eaast) pissing those people off? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.'
Perfect set up for attack, you know now we don't have the tools to protect, Terror...I told you so...now all your civil liberites are removed, to protect you...you can trust us.
The Democrats will kill us all! Take your children into the bunker NOW -- Pelosi's coming for them. Dear Jesus, give us the strength to live on the Dark Side forever. Brought to you by America's telecom companies. When our customers speak, we listen!
Jesus save us from ourselves, the Republicans, and the Bush Whackers, and the Bush Wankers, and the Bush Whoppers, the Bush Wads, and all other leaders and other terrorists.

Dr. Jeane J. Kirkpatrick

Distinguished Advisers (cough spew)
Judge Louis J. Freeh, Sen. Joe Lieberman
Newt Gingrich, R. James Woolsey, Max M. Kampelman

Democrats are the Senate majority. They voted for this bill!! The House members aren't smart enough to follow their fellow Dems!
jmwhitcomb 3 years ago
Both houses of Congress need to be cleaned out. Though I think you have that reversed. It's the Senate Dems that should be showing the cajones the House is. But for the most part, the Dems have been spineless bastards, which why they should nearly all be replaced.
dafttool 3 years ago 4
Exactly correct!!! Everyone of them should be voted out. Trouble is, people almost NEVER vote out their own Congressperson. All of us are responsible for that calamity, and deserve what we get if we just keep re-electing them.

LOL.
This is getting out of hand now.

A more accurate title for this 527 would be "Frontline of Fascism".

Interesting word "Overwhelming"
When it first came through it passed the House by 227 to 189
When it went through the Senate it passed by 68 to 29
The definition of overwhelming gives no numeric amount that must be met, but just based on my first feeling at looking at these numbers...not overwhelming...in the least.
380 to 36, even 300 to 116, 85 to 12, those would've seemed overwhelming...

It's called "terrorist surveillance bill" - but it's really a domestic surveillance bill.

It's ironic that it is paid for by "Defense of Democracy"

Fear mongering.
The biggest threat to democracy is this country's policies (both foreign and domestic).
The terrorists will take down neither us nor our allies without our own help.
We don't need Big Brother to protect us. We just need him to stop drawing fire.
