This is excellent! Spider-Man 3 was a joke, although none of them were that good anyway. In my opinion, the only gritty reboot that sucked was Casino Royale. That was NOT James Bond, that was Jason Bourne.

I thought the Sam Raimi Spiderman films were actually good. They maintained the vibrant comic book feel and didn't go too far down the gritty route. This video sums up how the film industry in America only sees $ signs - they remake Asian and European films or American films that they think they can rebrand. They used to wait at least 10 years before remaking a movie, now they wait a couple of years. It's a bit sad really. Endless versions of the same thing...

Yeah I know what you mean. It's kind of rare of finding a hero who wants to save the world based solely on the fact they want it to be a better place. I feel like comic book writers and readers alike feel that kind of reasoning is too plain and boring. Having an issue that fueled your reason for saving the world is usually good for stories. Though fret not, there are people that are good characters that have reasons not tied to family issues or total angst.
