I was in 11th grade when this came out. God, I miss those days! Some Youtube user had the whole record on here and in good quality, but it seems to be gone now. A shame, as it's been so hard to find it since going out of print.
Wow.... it's so cool to hear stuff like this again. I used to have this tape, liked it quite a bit too. Well, I'm gonna go see if I can find some Bulletboys....
I recall seeing them at a label event in SF. It was an acoustic set, of about 5 songs. 20 people were there, that's about it. Dude could sing live, that's for damned sure. Not my favorite band of the period, but the song stuck enough for me to look it up. I have a CD somewhere methinks.
@boarderb These guys are friends of mine and aredoing great. Bassist Gorge plays for DevonAllman, Guitar Jimmy plays in a ton of different bands including the most accuratefloyd band ever and the incurables. The lead singer frankie has his on band dr zhivegas
@richyrichard11 glad you found it! i have it on cassette, but it's pretty much worn out and very muffled-sounding (got it from the local college radio station back in the day)
GREAT song from a cool band ("Place in My Heart" is even better!). Summer of 1991 were some great days, right before Nirvana and MTV completely destroyed popular music.
I remember back in high school, in SW Missouri thinking it was so cool that a St. Louis band was on the radio. I ended up in St. Louis, and 15 years later I ended up in playing in a band w/ Jimmy Griffin (the guitarist)for a little while. He still plays around town quite a bit with several projects (Tiny Cows, El Monstero - a Pink Floyd tribute, among others). George Potsos plays bass for Gregg Allman's kid Devon, in his band Honeytribe.
Met my wife one night at Stages while KOTH was playin that night. Then, the cpl yrs ago they reunited surprized her with 2 tickets to the show, for Xmas. She was shocked as hell. She hadnt heard they were doin a show. Shock city! A great show it was too, i might add!!
KOTH are all still, in one form or another in the St. Louis area. They had a one off reunion show a couple of Decembers ago, and they hadnt lost a thing. Show rocked, and they all looked good. Frankie fronts a band called Dr. Zhivegas, and was from what I heard, to be a part of the Americas Greatest Band deal a month or so back. Agreed on the Place in my heart ballad, that was a great song. Granny's, Stage's, those were the bars, and those were the days........
Yeah, KOTH was a St. Louis band (I think originally called Broken Toys), and Dr. Zhivegas has been doing the local circuit for years. Had no idea there was a connection until now. I'm a little surprised because I think of Dr. Z as more of a disco cover band. I've never seen 'em though.
I just put this CD on for the first time in years last week. It was actually a very solid CD... some great songs... I do think that "Place in My Heart" was a stronger song than this one, though, in terms of ballad. The song "Roses" is KILLER.
Dang... memories! Granny's Rocker! Tammy V. are you out there? Saw them on Thanksgiving night. Oh the teen years.... Notice the drummer is wearing a Blues jersey. :) ~L~
Cool it's Frankie and Vito played keys with these guys a few times back in the broken toyz days! good guys and hella partiers. Damn Granny's Rocker and Stages those were Da clubs!!!!
Grannys rocker, with 50 cent draft on thursdays, and Stages with breakfast at 3am in the morning. Kingofthehill, Frontrunner, Saturn Cats. All awesome. Those days will never be forgotten!!!
Anyone in the st louis area (edwardsville/glen carbon, IL area) remember granny's rocker??? and when they were called broken toys???? I got to see them a lot and they kicked butt.
OMG!! I have been looking all over for this video. Thank you, thank you, boarderb!! Any chance you have one recorded that you would like to sell? I loved kingofthehill and never understood why this was all I heard.
Loved the song, but I think Kingofthehill was one of the bands who never got a fair shake at the end of the hair metal era. Coolest thing about the video: That it aired as part of a "hard block" during the summer of '91 on MTV. I loved their programming that summer. What a concept, a block of similiarly themed videos.

Didn't really care for these guys, but I have to admit this is a great song. Simple, honest; and a very classy, well played guitar solo to boot.
