Wow, so good to hear him at his peak and singing live! This is really something! (And yes it is a pity there isn't more of this available. Hopefully one day more footage will surface.)
Jesse suffered for his avoiding the Vietnam War...but we all suffered from not seeing him for so long...look at how few live clips there are from the 70s or 80s of him when he was at his prime....and what a pure clear fabulous voice he has or at least had
My parents would house draft dodgers in our home as they made their way to Canada during the '60s. They considered themselves entirely patriotic, loving their country and doing what they had to do as members of a participatory democracy to set right what they felt had gone so wrong. They walked their talk, like Jesse.
@bradpdx2 They were indeed. Patriotism rightly understood, coupled with courgage. Many forget that America had a second Underground Railroad, a century after the original.

british music needs an artist like this, all the folkies & acoustic forerunners all sound the same, from blunt to sheerin! totally type cast, except for the villager!
You might deplore his politics, but his politics saved his life. Draftees had a higher mortality rate than "volunteers". I am close to his age, by a few years. He made his decision 48 years ago, and this is his sole anti-war song. And it's a love song.
This man ran to Canada to avoid the draft. What does that say about him. Draft dodger.

@bradpdx2 Thank God for folks like yours - the 2nd underground railroad. People of conviction who were not afraid to act. Blessings.

Love the music but deplore his politics.

@MrJerseycows what do you think his politics are, other than refusing to serve in Vietnam?
