@PeacefulKancer Not the throw, but at the very end when it's taking out the pins. Look at roughly 0:02 , you can see where the shot changes to a close up, and it kind of looks like the pins are cgi. Not sure that they are, or why they would do that (Maybe they didn't get a good shot of the pins falling?)

@spencersghost I'd guess that with any TV production there are multiple camera's rolling. The director/operator will select what camera to use for the feed to give the best viewing experience. I don't think bowling would use CGI.

That leave is more common to see (not that it happens a lot) on the harder patters, such as the US Open. You can catch some oil by missing right and go straight through the 3 pin and back, leaving that mess. If you've never seen this leave, it means you bowl on a THS all the time probably.

i did that last night 1st frame left my first shot real light and left this same leave, i dont know if you can hit it with right hank hook, maybe with deflection you can, but anyway i released the ball with backwards spin and threw it deep and it came back and hit the spare. saved the game shot a 225. im working this shot into my rep for more splits im gettin ggood at it

1 Of my friends actually started bowling like that, making the ball hook "wrong" way, and hes right handed. Now hes learning to throw it the "right" way. By the way, is the meaning of backup ball, a ball that which rolls to the opposite direction, than what it is meant to roll with a right hand throw? Or does it mean just a back up ball throw, rollin the ball to the opposite, without any kind of special ball?

It means hooking the "wrong" way with a ball rather than the ball itself. I have a standard Ebonite Tornado and I am learning to do a backup with that. My hook isnt too great yet, but it's great for me because of a more potental for strikes without really drastically changing the style how you bowl (I am a righty and I used to bowl straight, but keeping my fingers pointed to the right causes my ball to hook to the right).

From what I have heard, Smith is really good at throwing backups.

He had to do it to get through a round at the Japan Cup because the lanes dried up so much he couldn't roll his normal shot.
