The other thing is how much the Subaru costs compared to the Honda. I'm actually looking into another car and I wish I could afford a Subaru and I know that I don't want to get a cheap Honda. Wow, stock K20s produce anywhere from 160bhp to 220bhp with NO boost. But it isn't the bhp that gets these cars around a track, it's the TQ within their powerbands. Have you SEEN a K20 turbo powerband? All that power up high does you no good when trying to keep up with an Evo or an STi...

no engine to engine the evo has the advantage and the evo has a much stronger drivetrain what evens the playing field is when subaru came out with the 6-speed box but the engine IS weaker if you want real power from a subaru you need to rebuild the engine as to the evo where you can get more power out of the stock engine
Engine to engine, the Evo has less power in stock form. However, they had a iron block in the past, which gave that engine it's strength. Evo has never had a powertrain stronger than the STi. They've been pretty even until Subaru produced the 6 speed. As for making power, no worries with the STi. Fresh, it can handle 400+whp on the stock internals. Some have even got it to 500whp on stock internals.

Wow, you've never driven a Subaru if you think they're not nice. And the WRX 205 isn't supposed to compete with the EVO though any STi with a 207 in it does just fine as competition. WRX EJ205s aren't meant to be serious engines in stock form. They're meant as entry level boosted engines for USDM WRXs.
Yeah they're weaker than Evo's - also half the cost and about twice as comfortable to drive or fuck a girl in.
It's not that expensive to upgrade the internals and a turbo on a WRX - you can take it to 320+ BHP on stock internals alone. That's more HP than most of the Evo's I've smoked.

Depends on what you have for a Subaru. Obviously the normal 4EATs aren't going to give you TOO much of an advantage but better than other entry level automatic AWD cars.
On pavement, VDCs & VTD Subarus like H6s & STis are 2nd only to the EVO but stiffer shocks, springs & even bushings will solve that issue for sure. Spec Cs will wipe the floor with almost anything that isn't a borderline supercar.
@DOHCEJ22E1 haha you went past my knowledge of subies man. I just know that a WRX, or US spec STi (factory,) has this attrocious understeer. Hahaha I know, my 3450lb 260 hp eclipse in FWD, is FAR from even comparing, so don't bring it up lol. My only experience with a spec C, If I'm completely honest, is in GT5. Lol. And I can say it handled more evenly than the wrx I drove. which by normal standards was still on rails. The H6 came with VDC? 8-0 I imagine rear sway bar/bushings helps a ton too
In stock form, you are correct, the WRX & STi have understeer like hell though the active center differential control in the STi helps out some with that. The H6 did come with the VDC but I do not know if they still do. The older Outbacks were sleepers when it came to handling.

Also, it's urabuS if you read it backwards... But meh, I still like them.
I never said that they didn't understeer but understeer in a Subaru is usually toned down a lot with slight suspension modification & just about erased with full suspension mods. And it isn't the chassis that makes them understeer, it's the engine layout. It's weight is over the front wheels & as it is a flat 4, that worsens the effect. Having AWD is actually a benefit to the weight balance of these cars.

I got a 2.5 Rs and it can do that too...I got to admit I like CIvics for their ease and lots of parts really cheap but Subarus are so much fun specially in bad weather. My other car is a TL and my bike is a GSXR1000...out of all of them I drive the Scooby more.

Wow, stock K20s produce anywhere from 160bhp to 220bhp with NO boost. But it isn't the bhp that gets these cars around a track, it's the TQ within their powerbands. Have you SEEN a K20 turbo powerband? All that power up high does you no good when trying to keep up with an Evo or an STi...

no engine to engine the evo has the advantage and the evo has a much stronger drivetrain what evens the playing field is when subaru came out with the 6-speed box but the engine IS weaker if you want real power from a subaru you need to rebuild the engine as to the evo where you can get more power out of the stock engine

Engine to engine, the Evo has less power in stock form. However, they had a iron block in the past, which gave that engine it's strength. Evo has never had a powertrain stronger than the STi. They've been pretty even until Subaru produced the 6 speed. As for making power, no worries with the STi. Fresh, it can handle 400+whp on the stock internals. Some have even got it to 500whp on stock internals.

Actually, EVOs corner better but are NOT more powerful stock vs stock with an STi. If you enjoy real driving, you'd buy an STi because you wouldn't want computerized yaw driving for you like what would happen if you drove an EVO.

Wow, you've never driven a Subaru if you think they're not nice. And the WRX 205 isn't supposed to compete with the EVO though any STi with a 207 in it does just fine as competition. WRX EJ205s aren't meant to be serious engines in stock form. They're meant as entry level boosted engines for USDM WRXs.

Yeah they're weaker than Evo's - also half the cost and about twice as comfortable to drive or fuck a girl in.
It's not that expensive to upgrade the internals and a turbo on a WRX - you can take it to 320+ BHP on stock internals alone. That's more HP than most of the Evo's I've smoked.

What I respect = People who build their cars for the purpose of enjoying their build.
What I don't respect = Silly little ricers who think that just because they're fans of a brand, that makes their brand invincible.
Bottom line, everything has their pros & cons.
Honda = Lightweight, durable, & powerful for the litre.
Subaru = AWD, Turbocharged, & handles like a boss.

@DOHCEJ22E1 I totally agree, my 93' ford cobra notch-back has a modded 5.4L with a Single Garrett GTX4508R turbo system putting out 1013rwhp and 1096ftlbs of torque @ 5500rpm and red-line's around 7100rpm @45psi. Full chromoly tube chassis, carbon interior(dash, rear seat delete, inner door panels, gauge pillars').
This = enough performance to put Ford hater to shame in the 1/4 and enough technology and fabrication to make "performance tuners / exotics" jealous. Point is.....respect all builds.

Depends on what you have for a Subaru. Obviously the normal 4EATs aren't going to give you TOO much of an advantage but better than other entry level automatic AWD cars.
On pavement, VDCs & VTD Subarus like H6s & STis are 2nd only to the EVO but stiffer shocks, springs & even bushings will solve that issue for sure. Spec Cs will wipe the floor with almost anything that isn't a borderline supercar.

Hahaha I know, my 3450lb 260 hp eclipse in FWD, is FAR from even comparing, so don't bring it up lol. My only experience with a spec C, If I'm completely honest, is in GT5. Lol. And I can say it handled more evenly than the wrx I drove. which by normal standards was still on rails. The H6 came with VDC? 8-0 I imagine rear sway bar/bushings helps a ton too

In stock form, you are correct, the WRX & STi have understeer like hell though the active center differential control in the STi helps out some with that. The H6 did come with the VDC but I do not know if they still do. The older Outbacks were sleepers when it came to handling.

Also, it's urabuS if you read it backwards... But meh, I still like them.

I never said that they didn't understeer but understeer in a Subaru is usually toned down a lot with slight suspension modification & just about erased with full suspension mods. And it isn't the chassis that makes them understeer, it's the engine layout. It's weight is over the front wheels & as it is a flat 4, that worsens the effect. Having AWD is actually a benefit to the weight balance of these cars.
