  • this is a more solo pedal

  • I HATE THIS DUDE :S

do a lot of noise and mistakes, BUT THE EFFECT IS THE BEST

    i love that pedal

  • Its true bypass ?

  • Ive got this pedal and its punchy as exept when your using it with all the knobs turn to 5.00 you really need a noise gate or a volume pedal the amount of feedback is pretty horrid

  • This might not be what people want but here it is anyway!

  • if your main distortion sux, the overdrive cant do magic...

  • suckage

  • I must awnest but i really dont hear the difference :(

  • @Rocker5234

HAHA really? Odd though, I hear a difference at each setting.

  • @rhb271 yeah, but thats just my crappy amateur ear :))

  • you are not born to play guitar....

  • From... M X R!!

  • my mother plays guitar better, and she haven't got arms

  • Wow! Who is this guy?? He could convince me to buy a dildo for my dog.

  • @Albatross93 no problem man!!

  • @Albatross93 set your zoom up, get a good amp model and put like, a medium distortion on there to paly riffs, then when you kick the wylde od on for solos, that will sound great. Especially if you can get a great amp model, but make sure the distortion is not too much or when you put the od on it will sound muddy, then program a chorus on your zoom or somethin and you can blend the two but i dont know how your zoom works

  • I'm going to use my rig as MXR '78 Badass Distortion---MXR Wylde Overdrive---MXR Black Label Chorus.

  • @Albatross93 you shouldnt use it as a dist man, yo u wont really like it

  • i just got zakks overdrive in the mail less than an hour ago. it looks different from this... im still messing with it and i LOVE it :)

  • Is this the same as the one that says "berzerker overdrive" and is more of a cream color? Cause their both called MXR ZW-44 Overdrive. Some please help. :(

  • Had this. Got rid of it.

  • Shit! I can't believe Dunlop pays this guy for playing like that!

  • Press 2 Rapidly for "One" solo

  • mxr should let Gaku demo this pedal

  • @eik0422 I am totally subscribed to that oriental Zakk Wylde. He is really good but tries to hard to look like Zakk i think.

  • Can I use the MXR ZW44 Zakk Wylde Overdrive pedal over my distortion pedal?

  • he looks like some weird fat chicken hybrid :)

  • im gonna order one if this beast shittt

  • holy shit... incredible!

finally an overdrive pedal demo that doesn't some like shit!!

  • Bad guitarplayer !

  • @LaKustick

    soll wohl'n witz sein?

  • Comment removed

  • @DerEchteBold Ne..

  • @LaKustick

  • very cool sound!! crunch hard!

  • this guy is playing 1000 times more fluent than me, but i just cant hold a smile when i see him)) funny haha

  • @VoVikMakaR did he combine distortion with the amp to boost it up?

  • He's good guys, he's just pushing what he can do a little too hard. I'm sure if he slowed the tempo of the sweeps he'd hit them cleanly.

  • ha ha these comments crack me up ha ha..anyway...

This or the Xotic BB preamp?....discuss

  • EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!! THIS GUY SUCKS CAMEL DICK ON PLAYING GUITAR!!!

  • whats the name of song :S

    plz write me :D

  • give me W, give me a Y give me L, Give me a D, give me a E, whats that spell, BAD ASS

  • this dude is awsome

  • Finally, a proper demonstration of this pedal.

  • crap....

  • 2:35 sweeping FAIL xd

  • @saotjess22 DAMN RIGHT BROTHER

  • @saotjess22 can you sweep pick?

  • @xdavstratx yeaaah, i'm good in sweep with 3 string, not too good in sweep with 5 strings, but i do the the 3 strings sweep cause i know that i'm good in that, but if this guy can't sweep it's better that he not sweep and just do the things that he can do well.

    sorry my bad english

  • @saotjess22 im not a shredder im more of a power chord and palm mutting player

  • @saotjess22 He was catching the note at the 16 and 17th frets with his right hand and a sweep, not an easy thing to pull off but i guess Dunlop approve.

  • @saotjess22 grab a camera and film yourself playing by mxr company fagot

  • Will it work to "Beef it up" to any amps?

  • @96lolstar as long as its tube

  • @chrisiztheman1618 How will it sound in Marshall MG30fx to boost that?

  • @96lolstar The MXR or DS-1 will not work on a Peavey Windsor 1 Channel Tube Amp. It just makes it noisier. But the MXR will sound good on a reputable 2 channel tube amp. Try RANDALL Tube Amp! Screw Solidstate.

  • my zakk wylde overdrive has another buttons on it can someone make an explanation?

  • @koray1921 Zakk put it there just for you.

  • @koray1921 You must have a zw38..Same thing basically just has a little bit more tone capability

  • i just got this pedal, and im trying to find a good sound. i have a peavy vypyr, with all the settings on clean. then i have a behringer UM300 distortion pedal, then goes through the MXR pedal, on the zakk wylde settings. i CANT get a good sound at all like these demo videos have. i have a epiphone les paul limited edition custom, and it seems like theres just so much distortion and feedback you cant hear what you're playing. do you guys suggest anything? thanks!

  • @brandino13 Get a tube amp like a Peavey Valveking. It's inexpensive but has a great tone. I own one and this pedal and it blows the Vypyr series and Line 6 amps out of the water. And for the distortion and feedback, get a noise suppresor or a noise gate. It cancels the noise coming from your amp. Really reliable.

  • @XBr0kenB0neyardzX lmao what a kawinkidinki got a valveking 100 watt head and i got this pedal today and the boss ns2 and it sounds fucking great get one

  • @BFMVFREAK2010 Didn't need smartassness man.

  • @XBr0kenB0neyardzX wasnt being a smart ass i really do ill make a video and put it up on my account

  • @BFMVFREAK2010 lol its kool man

  • that's madness for an overdrive ! i like it !

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct probably could use over a clean channel just will be crunchy not real heavy sounding

  • I bought this beauty two days ago, and Im curious should I use it when my amp's on a clean channel or with my distorted channel, (for me there is a much greater affect when the amps on a clean channel) I use it with my blackstar HT-5 amp on clean with the gain on the pedal turned up 3/4 of the way and I think Im achieveing to tone I want (ala Black stone cherry)

If Im using it wrong let me know please as I want to get the best tone I can

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct its more for using on a distorted channel to boost gain

  • @TheDime4life I assume it can still be used infront of a clean amp and just be used as a regular overdrive too right?

  • Got it off Craigslist, 30 bucks! Yeah it was a hell of deal!

  • would this pedal be good for hard rock aswell, ala Black stone cherry? cause I love they're southern hard rock tone

  • Horrible tone

  • 2:15 hahahahah but here it is anyway

  • I have a question, im looking to buy this pedal and some new pick ups for my jackson. i need good, heavy sounding pickups without being active. any ideas? Thanks!

  • @mcdonaldskilledme123 The Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and '59 in the neck is a VERY impressive combo if you're looking for super-heavy passive pickups. My rhythm guitarist uses that combo in his Jackson SL2H and it's on par (in terms ov heaviness) with the dual EMG-81s in my ESP M-II.

  • @TerminusCOBHC is the '59 pickup you told me about a seymour duncan as well?

  • @mcdonaldskilledme123 Yes it is.

  • @TerminusCOBHC okay, thanks a lot for helpin me out man!

  • again no LED :(

  • sloppy.

  • i agree with spazmicjosh this guy is way better than gay paul from guitar world

  • Does anyone know if u can catch some good sustain with this pedal for solos and stuff?

  • @dimebagdarrell2525 of course, just make sure you tune down your guitar 1 step, kinda like catches the harmonics way more better :)

  • @dimebagdarrell2525 hi! i got the overdrive pedal today for christmas :P and it's fucking ROCKS! \m/

  • metal dude

  • I hate hes taste with guitars.

  • This pedal is f*cking awesome! I have ordered it from the internet about 6 months ago... I love this pedal... I use it with my clean channel and its good for vintage rock that we play with my band. (if you want to play metal, you need a distortion, but if you have one, this pedal is good for your solos, we have tried it, its awesome!!!! or simply use your amps lead channel) So i think this pedal is very good if you love the sex, drugs, rocknroll feeling :D

  • wld this be any good to drive my jcm 900 to brutal gainy metal

  • @KickingAss24 yes, that is the purpose of this pedal, any marshal + this pedal = EPIC WIN!

  • @Zorlak108 at low volume?

  • @KickingAss24 yup, but i would say try it out in a store first though, just to make sure! then search the internet to get the best deal!

  • Fat EGG!

  • why would you start with a dirty amp when trying to show the sound of a pedal!!!???!

  • @qwerpoij because this pedal is really intended to push your amp harder, not as a common overdrive, of course you can use it as a simple od, but that is not it's true purpose

  • @qwerpoij pedal is suppose to push ur amp further, i have it and it's actually quite weak on its own

  • ZW overdrive or Dime overdrive

    Need help plz!!!!!!?!?!?!

  • @chillernz Definetly the ZW! I have the Dime dist....and it sounds like shit. I bought it because it has Dime's name on it, not because MXR made the magic pedal that sounds like Dimebag...by the way, it sounds nothing like Dime's tone, period

  • @9sweet yeah but it depends on what your setup is running through the pedal really?......so do you run a dean through it.....that has a mahogany body and rosewood fingerboard?......do you have either a Bill Lawrence XL500 OR Dimebucker in the bridge?...........are you playing it through any Krank amps?..........is your amp a solid state?...............if all these kinda criteria arent met than of course your not going to get Dime's tone??!!..........

  • @chillernz depends on what amp you have....if it is a solid state one ; i would rather go for the Dime distortion. The Wylde overdrive is meant to be played in front of a tube amp (already overdriven).

  • @chillernz i have both, the ZW is meant for tube amps with gain already going, dime is for solid states pretty much. I use them both at the same time, turn the gain on the dime down and turn the ZW on during solos to help tear through the rhythem guitarist

  • would like to hear it with the volume backed off on the guitar to see how well it cleans up.

  • This kinda sounds bad to me, but i guess its just my opinion. maybe this video just doesn't do it justice

  • @BloatedMonk It really doesn't.

  • i wonder what kind of micing and other things he did to get that profesional sound :s

  • i use this pedal with the dime distortion cuz i dont like the mid scoop switch and my guitar sounds godly with both of them switched on

  • WOW! You sir can really play. 1:40-1:43 was sick.

  • all the knobs dimed sounds most like zakks tone

  • THIS is an amazing video . Totally hooked me up ! And i'm not a gearhead or what, but marketing-wise , it's amazing . really attractive , makes the pedal looks like an amazing pedal (and it is an amazing pedal)

  • can you say static x haha

  • will it boost the distortion output from another pedal e.g. a big muff

  • I love the fact that this pedal can turn any amp into a deep fryer. It has more than enough gain. It actually is one of the sweetest blues accessories you can find when you just add a slight boost. It also works well with other pedals because it doesnt color the sound. I dont like sigs ...but this pedal is tops.

  • awesome pedal ! MXR KICKS ASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude has chops.......

  • i saw matt tuck of Bullet for my Valentine using this pedal.. awsome metalcore

  • ITS WYLDE!!!

  • I would love this pedal, but the feedback is so horrible i just cant use it =(

  • @codeman11845 Get a noise gate bro

  • @codeman11845 Learn to use your volume knob. I'm sure it only feeds back when you stop playing.

  • @NickMass35 I do, it still gives me a shit ton of feedback though. But its alright, i have a Boss Metal Zone now =DD

  • you seem to like to play that d chord

  • wow you suck at sweep picking.

  • Damn! This one goes to 11!

  • High gain gives these high noise, almost unbearable. Im gonna try a noise gate and turning down the tone, but will probably lose some color, well see

  • Im trying to work with this pedal but i cant seem to get it right. im running a peavey 5150 and a les paul with emgs....and of course this pedal. should i be running it through the effects loop or right though the normal input of the amp? any replys and/or settings would be appreciated

  • @Mr5150II the front dude, never put a distortion/overdrive box through the effects loop.

  • i have this its awesome it can be used for more than just this. its kick ass. i use it for my strat and my les paul. works good for all sounds. but it buzzes like a mother fucker

  • i play my tube amp thrugh distortion and it sounds fucking amazing but i want more GAIN !

would this overdrive pedal give me the more gain i need ?

  • @RideTheLightning1995 Yes It would, my friendo :D

  • He reminds me of a more meterosexual Kerry King

  • @MarkoMaddy i second that haha

  • The Mxr Black label Chorus or the boss CE-5 chorus?

    Plz answer,

  • @Runelaier i have the CE-5 and its a pretty awesome chorus. the black label chorus is really similar cause its based of the CE-5 (cause thats what zakk used to use)

  • @lavalamp360 Thanks , i am only 14 so i am lookong for my first chrus pedal, which one do you think i should bye. And i have another question, the Black Label Chorus has a bucket brigade circuit. What does that mean.

  • @Runelaier I'm 16 and I just got my CE-5 about a month ago. I have no idea what the bucket brigade circuit thing is but what i do know is that the black label chorus is very similar to the boss chorus. I've never tried it so I can't really make a fair satement but I would reccommend the CE-5 because its cheaper and they are both very similar. If ur looking to get zakk's tone than either will do cause he used both.

  • @Runelaier I have the black label chorus and couldn't be happier with it.

  • it's not just the overdrive pedal, it's the amp (a great one) the guitar (a gibson) and the player (very good)

If you have and or are neither of that, this pedal won't work for you.

  • @ritchguitar Its not only Gibson who makes good guitar... Actually since 2009, their new products fucking sucks... And also, Gibson guitars are not for all style...

  • if the alternate picking was cleaner and his riffing had more pinch harmonics it would actually sound very much like wylde but thts a matter of technique not tone. seems like a good pedal overall

  • how well would this work playing through a 15 watt spider III just hoped it would work with my half stack and my carry amp?

  • WIth the gain cranked all the way on the pedal and dist. from the amp, that has to be a pretty damn noisty set up

  • From what I've heard of Zakk's playing, the essence of his tone is in his amp, not his pedals.

  • the essence of his tone is in his fingers

  • @dkrumrie123 That's true too, but my point is that when it comes to his hardware - the overdrive and crunch is produced mostly in the amp. This pedal is not capable of getting anything like the tones on his records.

  • Does anyone have a clue about using this with a Marshall JS100R Valvestate? How would it respond used in a distorted channel? I want to achieve a heavy tone, suited for Metallica, In Flames, Iron Maiden mostly. Any other recommendations if this won't do it for me?

  • @dimgrav I mean VS100R, there is no such thing as JS :P ...

  • I have this pedal and a very old Boss Super Overdrive (SD-1). They sound very close to each other. Like bigfish0804 says, he modeled his signature pedal off the Boss. Theres nothing wrong with this pedal but I actually prefer the old Boss unit.

  • Well Zakk Wild Uses The Boss Super Overdrive

  • Yes he does. I'm sure he still uses one too. In 1989, I read in Guitar for the Practicing Musician how he said it was his favorite OD. Thats why he modeled his signature MXR OD pedal off it. That's why I'm saying they sound very similar.

  • I'm having a huge problem with feedback with this pedal. how can i fix this? it makes me not want to play at all.

  • dont be so close to your amp, dont face your amp, and maybe less volume if your practicing....

  • Feedback problems? Get yourself a Decimator G String. This awesome noise suppressor totally kills the feedback even at full volume.

  • use a less amount of gain or get a mxr smart gate.

  • the electric harmonix metal muff pedal has the boost switch almost similar to zw 44 i got that cuz i didnt have the money to buy a distortion pedal and the zw 44 at the same time

  • I have this pedal and its the perfect distortion pedal if u play metal thats not quite death metal

  • Surprisingly the ZW OD seems like it has significantly less gain than the GT-OD.

  • Its not that there is less gain, the ZW was based on zakk's old Boss super OD which uses asymetrical clipping and has a less dominant midrange, while the GT-OD is based on Tube screamers with symetrical clipping and a midrange hump. changing amp settings and using different pickups makes a huge difference...

  • whats the difference btween dis and the gt-od

  • with the ZW OD you actually get some of zakks tone which is annoying. It takes a bit of playing with to not sound like him with it. The GT-OD is more raw, heavy and saturated when you crank it.

  • thanx

  • @zack987100

it has Zakk's name & symbol on it

  • dude that dosnt really matter i was talking tone wise not graphics

  • haha well ill tell ya the "tone wise" difference....you get a beastly overdrive tone with a bit of zakk tone with it (which Stashitquick finds annoying) but I think its awesome!

If you dont want to fuss around tryin to hide ZW's tone in his overdrive pedal, just go with your other option

  • pinus head

  • Great Od pedal, I love anythings thats dunlop/mxr for the most part, But the guy that does these demos is retarded and annoying...

  • There is an important thing to know about this pedal:

That pedal will not sounds like in the vidéo in a clean channel amp!

It should be used in an allready saturated amp to have that sound

  • pedals are awesome when there dimed

  • Dude this guy does fuckin great reviews, better than that shit guy from guitar world.

  • It really sounds better with more gain on your amp and the knobs pushed back to about 2. With all the harmonic overtones though it is kind of a noisy little pedal, I really have to pump up my noise gate if I want to use it in a live setting.

  • Oh FUCK!!! I don't know which pedal should I buy between this and the Boss SD-1 Super Ovedrive.

I would appreciate if you give some comments

  • i've got one of these and they are bad ass. I would recomend it if your thinking about buying a good overdrive pedal. the only problem i'm faced with is, whenever i come to use it i need to umplug my amps footswitch, (amp is a Marshall MG50 older model) if anyone is in the same situation would appretiate some advice.
