We are circulating a petition calling on the government to recognise the Cornish as a National minority. It has been created by a Cornish person who is not a member of any political party or organisation but who is very concerned at what is happening in Cornwall. Only the South East, and the west midlands, and upper mid-west coast area are full of busy cities. Where I grew up in the North East there wasn't a city for about 50 miles. And in the North West it's the same, all countryside. And what a countryside too! North Yorkshire Moors, and the lake district! I now live in West Yorkshire, which is full of cities, but even so, there's nice peaceful spots all over Britain!

I think a big problem is holiday homes as they are ofton empty most of the year so the people who own them put very little back into the local economy.

It has more right 2 self governance than England, Scotland & Wales in this this respect. There is still a lot of tin left in the ground in Cornwall, they stopped mining it because nearly all of the tin was used to make cans which is now made of aluminium because aluminium is abundant throughout the UK in bauxite ore.

I've been to Cornwall many times and friends of my family that have done well have gone to uni.

It's due to watching English TV with the standard British accent. Many Cornish, who are genuine Cornishmen have a "typical" British accent.

The problem in Cornwall is that some of the locals are resistant to change.
Most of Cornwall has stagnated or gone backwards compared to the 1990s.
Any new developments in Cornwall are met with stiff opposition even if it creates jobs for locals.
The Eden Project. Fifteen charity restuarant and even the new cinema and redevelopment of St Austell town centre all met with opposition.
There's people who just don't want change and go along with their Liberal Democrats and benefits

I live in Mid Cornwall and yea there is a problem finding jobs here. The only way is for me to go outta the county.

Not really, I was raised in Bolton but I've made an effort to sound a little Cornish, otherwise you kill diversity and we'll all sound the same, which is pretty much the opposite goal of the multiracial/culturalist attitude.

There is still a lot of tin left in the ground in Cornwall, they stopped mining it because nearly all of the tin was used to make cans which is now made of aluminium because aluminium is abundant throughout the UK in bauxite ore.

I've been to Cornwall many times and friends of my family that have done well have gone to uni.
You can't expect to rely on gov't to solve your problems. The solution must be for knowledge based industries and their ilk to be attracted to Cornwall.
Oh and they don't have it as bad as the north...
P.s. Mining will not return as a dominant industry. Cornwall is full of tin, not copper!

Hi Peter. The first series of was shown on UK TV (Channel 4) in 2005 and there have been strong rumours of a second series being made at some point. It's been out on DVD in the UK for a while, but I doubt it ever got an international release. Jack

why is it that jobs here in Cornwall are still paying 5.53 / 6ph???? Im talking decent jobs too! I even saw a barrister job in Truro & the wage was £8 per hour! Crazy. Sadly means some employers take advantage despite they are doing well.. We need more help so that young people can get proper job experience & help to get their busisness ideas off the ground.
