That is when the second wave of rushing water came out of nowhere and swept them both away. It is a very sad event but Tim died in a way that deserves much respect and I would he honored to go that way.

My prayers go out to my cousin and to the family of the female victim. God Bless them all.

There were more than fifty hikers out that day and all of them were caught by surprise by this great wall of water, mud and debris. Flash floods come without warning and Tim died trying to save Angela Knoche's life. The story that most haven't heard is that Tim got out of the canyon after the first wave hit his group, but jumped back in to save Angela.

Timothy Hahn, the man who lost his life in this tragic accident, was my cousin's husband and a great and loving father. Although I have only met him a few times when the family got together, I respected him very much and knew that he was a wonderful man who took great care of his family and loved serving his country. This was an awful accident and to say that it is these hikers faults, in any way, for being out there is sheer stupidity.

RIP the hiker who died in this flash flood. Hiking in canyons during the monsoons can be very dangerous.
