PG: You need to get rid of the old fashion & cynical idea that "we have to kiss their ass" or give them somehting in return. I don't see Poland or any European country who was helped by the US is "kissing US hand" or giving anything back. PG: Again you really don't understand Poland. Yes, religion did play a big role in Poland. It was Pope and President Reagan who helped the Soladerity movement in Poland to succeed. If in Iran, as you say, 30% are devout moslem, in poland about 80% were Catholic. The 70% of non-religious Iranian can get rid of this regime if they get proper help from the West & the US. All I am asking is they give Iranian people a fighting chance, just like what they did for Polish people.

Actually my own "non-scientific" survey shows 100%- meaning people may believe in God but not an organized religion. The only good thing that came out of this bloody & islamic revolution is that everyone in Iran hates islam, except the ones that are on the payroll of regime or brought in from arabic countries or Afghanistan. Many have converted to Zardosht religion or Christianity.

I am not so naive to believe everything on CNN or on YouTube. I just happen to be an Iranian expatriate with relatives who are witnessing everything first hand. Outside military responses would only lead to many more civilian casualities. Outside sanctions could weaken Iran's GOV., but they realistically could withstand such pressure for decades. Covert ops would only proove Iran's unjust GOV right about the protestors. All these actions would escalate the violence, not subdue it.
