  • @IPGAuto That's not really correct, quattro puts power to where it's needed, and it isn't always at 60/40, this changes depending on the surface you are driving on, there's points where it can get to 85/15 if it needs to. Understeer has been an issue but there's a solution to that, keep turning the wheel if it doesn't go far enough.

  • @dreampilot2 audi is better build, naturally aspirated engine in the middle to keep the weigh balanced. and its not plastic. I bet this car would last longer then any corvette. On the zr1, your pretty much paying for the engine, the interior is way crapier-plastic. Oh you can actually drive the r8 in snow!

  • @miketothesupra The ZR1 is faster better handling and is not made by plastic it's made out of carbon fiber and aluminum. The R8's interior is better but it costs $200,000 the ZR1 only costs $122,000. ZR1 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and it's a V8 beat that.

  • @dreampilot2 yea but the Zr1 has has a 6.2L V8 supercharged the Audi is a 5.2 N/A V10 to despite the extra 2 cylinders the the ZR1 engine is bigger and has forced induction too boot price wise who cares. some one will buy either cars. but what it all comes down to is preference. The German built Audi and its high tec-ness or the ever so ageing corvette with its 6.2 supercharged V8. Personally i would go with the Nissan GT-R just cuz its cheaper and its an exceptionally well (HAND BUILT) car!

    5th time, lap times do not translate to handling. That tells you about grip & road holding and that's different from handling. A bad car can still set good lap times but only with pro drivers.     Handling is all about the feel of the car: weight, speed and feedback of the steering, brake feel and feedback, suspension travel, on the limit control, high speed stability, ability to cope on unpredictable tarmac (bumps, crests etc). As the word handling translates to control it immediately makes sense.

    I can pull up numbers from all over proving the Corvette and Z06 in various years faster than the R8 and R8 V10 around tracks. And thats without the power advantage of the ZR1. So if youre going to call a chassis terrible at least reference more than one car thats consistently faster. Feel is only half the story and never by itself showS how good a chassis is.

    6.2 Zr1? Aren't we forgetting the zo6? Last time I checked the zo6 had a 7.0L (aka 427cu. in. v8) believe it or not (according to motortrend & insideline)

    The Z06 accelerates from 0 - 60 faster than Zr1.

    Speaking of the Zr1, It still beats the R8 and GT-R in every single category.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD ok so the Z06 got into this how? .. this is a test of the ZR1 and the R8 the Z06 was impressive but is now more of a classic corvette. im just saying that of course the Zr1 has alot more advantages over the R8 by one of two things. 1. a bigger engine being that the Zr1 has a 6.2L V8 and the Audi and its 5.2 V10 and on top of the Zr1 having a bigger engine its also has the aid of a supercharger. so its no surprise that the Zr1 is faster.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD the R8 for what it is, is a very impressive car. The only thing that i dont like about the two is the price. thats y i said the GT-R is a better bang for the buck. But the R8s down side is its styling is u like it or u dont. The corvette is a great car but it needs a "new" look. the interior is very very old looking and the new front end looks like that off a Ferrari. thats to me is the only down fall with the corvette. speed means nothing if u cant show off the craftsmanship.

    If the Zo6 is faster than the Zr1 from 0-60 and has very similar test numbers as the ZR1, Minus the top end speed and is anywhere between 65,000$ and 85,000$ in the end The Zo6 is the best bang for your buck. But my original statement was to point out that theres more to the new corvettes than just supercharged 6.2's.

    On an unrelated note

    if history repeats there might be a 6.5L v8 that'll be replacing the mere two year old LS3.

As much as i like corvettes. There more an old mans sports car then young and trendy.

    Actually, unless you already have turbo or twin turbo packages in those supra's, Rx7's, Skylines, 300z's, etc. But without turbo's and without any proper tunning those cars aren't as fast as you say they are, I should know seeing as I have every motortrend book from 1984 - 2010 and they all said the same thing. As for Supras and mazda's being in style? I doubt that too, a lot more kids these days are embracing muscle cars, the whole Supra and Rx7 scene died with the last fast & furious.

    You realize that the intake manifold and fuel injection systems are roughly the same size on every car right? So it's no wonder that you'll only get 505hp with the 7.0L but if you were to alter the engine (Add more valves per cylinder) get a quad port intake manifold with four holly 750 carburetors, you too can have 100 + hp per liter and if you really want to get crazy you can slap a supercharger or turbo charger on that thing too. And guess what the ZR1 is a 100hp per liter engine :0

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD it is and is not the same. all cars must try and maintain a 14:1 fuel ratio 14L of air to 1 liter of fuel to run the best and most optimal (stoichiometric ratio). intakes how ever can be short or long and can very in the delivery of the air flow. and anything once u add a turbo or a super charger to it now has the positional to reach any HP number u want. just dial up the boost advance or retard the spark dump more fuel and open up the intake and exhaust and HP is born!

  • @nypaul728 It's a lengthy explanation here but the term comes from drag strip. It's the distance where you need to creep up from pre-stage to full stage lights before you launch the car in a drag strip, so it lets the car roll. If you will, google "roll out drag" and you will find an article from inside line.. click it and you'll be able to know it more, hopes it help mate

    First off this is the Spyder of the R8, which means it cost more cause its a convertible. The 458 Italia doesn't come in Spyder yet, and the Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder cost more than the R8 Spyder. Way more. If you were to compare prices the R8 V10 Coupe starts at 150s. While the LP560-4 and 458 start over 250K. Save up a little bit more? Try over 100K more. Audi R8 is what people consider as a "cheap luxurious super car" which is under 200K. GTR don't count for its not luxury.

  • @KarlowBOI Nope you are very misinformed. A decently equipped R8 V10 Spyder, which is the car in question, goes for around 185 to 190k and yes, that's correct. But no, the LP560-4 does not start at 250; in fact, not even the superleggera starts at 250. The 560 is around 200 and the 458 is a little more at 225. So what are you getting with the Audi? Nothing.
