jesus christ, that's abominable! It's all about what code CAN be executed, what framework it has to make it's way up to your machine, disgusting! I can't believe some brains actually are so out of the track ^^
i have a windows firewall a mcaffee firewall and if i really need it a ad aware 2007 pro firewall.(mcaffee detects everything but scans slow so i use ad aware to remove spyware=D)
that is true ever since i upgraded to ie7 i had nothing but problems with it to the point i switched to firefox...and i never liked firefix...lol....:P...
He said "the box is going to have a rootkit installed through just viewing the browser session". Yeah sure, I know what he means. But in my mind a browser session is a) a non-technical term meaning you sit at a computer and have a session of surfing -or- b) a session cookie/object/ticket that can be programatically used for logins or stateful stuff. So then you have to translate it, ya know?

Just visiting a site won't give you a virus you have to download something or run an activex control in order to be infected.
Aviator14 4 years ago
not in the case where when you visit a site, it downloads something without your permission, or even when you say you do not want to download it.

Mac sucks.
IE6: there are no computers that use IE6 alive today
IE7: although pop-up and toolbar hijackers are safe from it certain activeX controls can hack it at times without you knowing
Firefox: Unless you download something or agree to install a plug-in that isn't flash/java etc you might get infected but otherwise it's 100% safe.

I do not use IE7, it is rubbish, I sometimes (because I have to) use IE6, otherwise I use Opera. So your statement is inaccurate.
