Got those dry bags at WalMart in the Sportong Goods Department. 3 different size bags for $9.97 A really great deal, nice bags and they really do work. Our store still has them. I am considering getting another set while they still have them because I know WalMart is always changing it's inventory.
Those Walmart bags are very good for the price, I took those things to Venezuela and while on our way to Angel Falls the canoe tipped to the point some of our gear went over board, my Canon camera was in one of those bags, the backpack went under, my heart sank imagining my camera going for a dive. We pulled everything out the camera and whatever else was in the bags stayed bone dry. A lot of people diss Walmart, I am no longer one of those.
@cameraguy1968 Ya, I've been real happy with them and find they work just fine. I have purchased a second set of bags so I should have what I need... for now :-) I have just recently replaced that little Wenzel Starlite tent with a Eureka Spitfire Solo so I have bumped my tent weight up by 1 pound but replaced the 3# sleeping bag with a Marmot pounder that weighs just over a pound so I'm still about even on base weight!
I have thought about your question for a while now and have concluded that I would not change anything. My initial thought was maybe have made the trip a continuous one-way trip but since I was time constrained, did not have anyone as a shuttle driver and did not know for sure what to expect of myself, it was simpler to do an out and back hike. It was also comforting the second day knowing what to expect on the return trip. Because of that I was able to take the side trip on the Hike Inn trail.
Nice gear onto vid 2
