@KEVIN31881 You are so dumb for that! He couldn't even win a championship by leading a team. He has no awards...ole dumbass! MJ has NBA records for the highest scoring avg, the most scoring titles, the most NBA Finals MVPs, and he was on 9 all NBA defensive teams. Clyde sucks compare to MJ.
@TheShnag, er...not exactly. From Jordan's third season on you'd be really, really hard pressed to find someone who would have been willing to say Clyde and MJ were "equals." Really I'd even say from Jordan's first year, but he did have that really shorened second season, so I suppose for that brief window MJ's superiority wasn't quite clear. But after that, not a chance. I liked Drexler, a lot actually, but he really wasn't considered MJ's equal for any significant length of time.
@jdlund: Actually, in 91 and 92 some "media experts" hinted that Drexler might be approaching Jordan's level. This was because 1. Drexler was a high scoring SG who was also averaging 6+ assists and 6+ rebounds per game; 2. The Blazers were contenders and made it to the Finals before CHI did. 3. Clyde was a better 3pt shooter than MJ, and 4. The Blazers won three straight games at one point against CHI with Drexler in the lineup.
Then in Game 1 of the 92 Finals MJ put a stop to any such talk.
@Sentenza233: Clyde was a better passer and rebounder than Mike. If MJ was underrated as a passer, Clyde was seriously neglected. He was up there with Bird and Magic, but he played with great pgs in Porter and Strickland so he didn't get as many touches, plus he was in POR so noone cared. But anyone who coached or played with him will rave about his passing. However, even though he improved, Clyde was not even close to the shooter MJ was. He looked like an electrocuted frog when he shot it.
@Sentenza233 Huh? Come on he avereged more assist than Mike, His shooting percentage was better. He had it straight from college, he didn't have to work on it. Again he was never the player Mike was. No one will ever be , they never had the determination Mike had. But skill wise if not better , equal to Mike.. Skill wise I'm talking.
@SchoolcraftReppin, not to b mean bro but I think u got it all wrong! Here's my opinion of the top ten! 1. Michael Jordan, 2. Kobe Bryant, 3. Wilt chamberlain, 4.Magic johnson, 5. Hakeem Olajuwon, 6. Bill Russell, 7. Julius Erving, 8. Larry Bird, 9. Maybe lebron 10. Shaquille O'neal that's my opinion! The guys I named hav innovated or done something special in da game of basketball.
Always in Mike's shadows, but I always rooted hard Glyde, remarkable skilles. Probably more skilled than Jordan , better passer , better shooter. But not a better player.
Yeah it could've but Chicago didn't want anotha SG that was very similar to Jordan. Even if they were on the same team it wouldn't have worked because they would've had a hard time figurin out who was goin to be the main guy. Also, one of them would've had to make some sacrifices because of this. Havin these playas on different teams in their prime was a good thing but they probably could've played togetha later on in their careers. Drexler probably would've been like the Sixth Man or somethin.
Oh, I forgot that Portland could've had Jordan. My mistake. But you see what I mean, right? Puttin Clyde and Jordan on the same team is like puttin LeBron and Kobe togetha.
@najeenixonnixon He was referring to both of them on the Blazers, not the Bulls. Portland is who had the chance at both players, not Chicago. Blazers drafted Drexler in '83, passed on Jordan in '84 because they needed a big man. You've got it flipped around. PORTLAND is who didn't need MJ since they already had Drexler, not vice versa.
@DeliciousPoop really? watch Jordan to the Max or The Ultimate Jordan collection to get an idea what the love affair is all about. I mean cmon now. My favorite player is Drexler...but even I know the truth.
2:02. OMG that is one of the sickest shot I've ever seen. We still love Clyde in Portland. Probably The best shooting guard behind Jordan in the 80's 90's.
So very quick. Lot's of hang time. Slam's with style. Smooth. Class. Soft spoken. WAY underrated. Great vid, and Tupac laying down the groove-5 star's!
Theres pretty much way better players, but if i was starting a fantasy team, id take this dude first because I like his style more then anybody else. I forgot how good this dude was. He plays like no one else. Has his own thing goin on
I met Clyde at a photoshoot in London on wednesday. He is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He is so modest about what he's achieved even though he's one of the all time greats. I asked him a few big questions as well. He said Kobe is better than Lebron ,D Wade is the best current NBA player Celtics will win the finals , wilt the stilt is the greatest of all time and deron Williams is the best current pointguard!
no ques about it. he's one of the great nba players that never really gets alot of mention these days. until watchin this vid now i even kinda forgot about him, but man he was great and he's also one of the best in game dunkers iv ever seen
I think that Clyde Drexler and Gary Payton are two of the more underrated players of the 90s, just because they played their prime years up here in the Northwest.

The song is called "Troublesome '96," so that means it was probably released in 1996, two years before he retired. Hip hop (2Pac, no less) doesn't work in a video like this, however.
"he personaly was not part of that RAP GENERATION."
Well, have you ever seen a movie called "Space Jam?" That movie had some of the most popular rap music stars of all time tributing their music to him. As a matter of fact, that's when "rap bastards" really started to imitate Jordan's style of play and his style of clothing.
Even before that, MJ did a music video with Michael Jackson called "Jam" which really emphasized that basketball, is a culturally hip hop oriented sport. Peace.
this music is just not for drexler... just not fit in this video... DREXLER was another school... old school... better than this crap today... I see all around just some rap basketball "players", they ruined basketball, ask anyone from drexler generation... they will tell you the same... CLYDE THE LEGEND
It was actually Michael Jordan who revolutionized the "rap syle" of basketball we see today.
From, baggy shorts, shoes, dunks, music, even the jump shots, and even the players swagger today are the way they are because of Michael Jordan's influence on the game. God Bless you.
22IQ, God bless you too, but I dont agree with you :) How can jordan's fade aways and other jump shoot create rap basketball player? maybe he had some influence, but MICHAEL JORDAN personaly, was not rap generation player (THANK GOD FOR THAT), Kobe, Iverson etc, were first who brought that SHIT to NBA. Greetings
You dumb bastard, lol, if there was no Jordan, there would be no, what you call a "rap generation player."
People would still be dribbling the ball like John Stockton (one of my all time favorites), wearing their shorts like him and even shooting like him (Heaven forbid).
Without Jordan, how many "rap generation" basketball players would we have today? None because Jordan alone, was responsible for inspiring and blending basketball into the hip hop culture.
I agreed with you that JORDAN MAY had some influence for creating those "rap bastards" lol but he personaly was not part of that RAP GENERATION. and one more thing: HIP HOP NBA CULTURE almost DESTROYED NBA... ALMOST! just remember years Jordan left, and expecially years after Laker dinasty 200

The song is called "Troublesome '96," so that means it was probably released in 1996, two years before he retired. Hip hop (2Pac, no less) doesn't work in a video like this, however.

After all these years, why do people continue to spell "Glide" with a "Y"? It's annoying.

It's a play on letters with his name. Because his name is spelling with a Y.

PETRO,
It was actually Michael Jordan who revolutionized the "rap syle" of basketball we see today.

Greetings

Petro,
You dumb bastard, lol, if there was no Jordan, there would be no, what you call a "rap generation player."
God Bless you

I agreed with you that JORDAN MAY had some influence for creating those "rap bastards" lol but he personaly was not part of that RAP GENERATION. and one more thing: HIP HOP NBA CULTURE almost DESTROYED NBA... ALMOST! just remember years Jordan left, and expecially years after Laker dinasty 200
