I was surprised to discover, when watching The Red Baron, that Germany had Jewish fighter pilots in The Great War.
As we understand it, Rudolph Hess flew to Scotland as a spy and was caught. How many prisoners if war in our camps were treated as badly as those in the German (or later Japanse camps)....none of them.

Yes but remember France and Britain declared war on Germany, not vice versa. The Nazis made many Attempts at securing peace with Britain. Rudolph Hess even flew to Scotland in an attempt at securing peace. But Winston Churchill being the dumb drunkard that he was, ignored all proposals and even locked Hess in the London Tower without disscussion. It is strongly acknowledged that Hitler never wanted war with Britain even after Versailles, so I think revenge would be an inaccurate assumption.
