  • The Chevrolet Volt is not 235 mpg. That MPG is given by the guys at the EPA. They have found an error in their calculation. They have corrected it to 125 mpg. And 125 mpg is a whole lot better than 25 mpg we are all getting in our cars right now.

  • the only way i see this possable is it takes a gallon of gas to fully charge the batterys and the range is only 40 miles on a charge for the batterys how does it get 230 miles the gallon

  • Even if it got half of what they estimate I would still buy one. But I highly doubt 230mpg. I'm guessing they all sat down and crunched the numbers and came up with 230. It's like the prius, estimated 80mpg but in real life it averages a little over 40.

  • The volt will barely get 45 miles on the gallon. I will believe it when it tested by a reliable source.

  • The Chevy volt is a nice car, But then Ford motor company is building excellent cars too, in fact the Fords are rated better than toyota and honda and of course Chrysler has that life time warranty, the only car that has such a protection

  • Another EV1?

  • EPA formula shows 230mpg if u travel 55.5 miles between full charge, 60mpg if u travel 235 miles, 50 mpg for 300 miles...so my mgp should be 480mpg because i travel less than 40 miles a day to/from work...how?... i only used up 2 gallons of gasoline(electric equivalent per month)....

  • It isn't truly 230MPG.

You run off the battery charge and then the gas engine kicks in. I saw the breakdown on how much fuels it really uses and it was more like 60mpg over all. Plus this car is $10,000 over the price of a Prius

  • 230 mpg my ass. They probably never tested it. This must be some advertising scam for people to craze about.

And a price tag of around $40,000? No thanks, I'll take the Toyota Prius.

  • you could buy 2 Priuses for that price or the new Taurus SHO. this car is just a HYPE to get people in debt with GM again.

  • It's good number, only problem is this car could be created 20 years ago. Back then there was a guy who created water powered car, (youtube it) and somehow , someone, killed him.. fucking gas companies.

  • fuck them!!!! now we have to repair this fucked up world!!

  • Thought it said 23 mpg at first..

  • Well it sure as hell ain't 230 MPG!

  • wow..wish to have one!!!!!!!1

  • omg, I had been seeing that happy plug all over the place and couldn't figure out what it meant.

  • how are they supposed to measure that? it runs on electricity and the gas engine only runs to generate more electricity when you run out of electricity. so how does the EPA test it? it depends on how long they run the car. if you run it for 10 miles, you have infinite MPG (except for what's used to power your house to charge it in the first place). there's no good way to test it and have the test compare to other gas or regular hybrid cars. good idea for a car, but the number is misleading.

  • Bull Shit .... thats if your driving down hill, with a tail wind, at 40G's your newly born children will be in collage before you brake even on it.

  • you know what already does 230+ mpg? a bicycle.

  • Yeah but 1 hp :D

  • actually... probally 0.5 hp at the most

  • shut the fcuk up. Chevy Volt ftw

  • HOLY SHIT!!!! my S500 doesnt do that per tank!!!! i think they just kicked every hybrid things face in and the shit on there corpse and vomited on the grave! thats amazing

  • the tecnology exists for that to be possible...

    even less.

  • Go search Aptera and see a car that gets 300 mpg, they did it way before Chevy. I quess the chevy volt is a 5 seater sedan and the Aptera is a 2 seater aircraft looking thing. Aptera is more eco-friendly, but the chevy is more practical. The Aptera is also cheaper. Go look for yourself.

  • the 40mile RANGE is pathetic. If you that was your only car, you wouldn't be able to leave the city. rest in peace GM, your time is up.

  • Just my Opinion....Im not a expert you can prove me wrong if you want....Chevy had the volt lined up for a few years now just waiting for a good time to come out with it. Amazing how it comes out as soon as they lose alot of dept through bankruptcy. I know the didnt lose all there dept. But I would think its Do or Die for GM. what a perfect time to gear every one up with a big media hype. Give GM a little time for the dust to settle with bankruptcy and put all the chips on the volt in 2011.

  • are you kidding me...... 230?!?!

  • Wonder how long they have been sitting on this technology ? OHH That's right.. About 100 years. Fact is that when the first cars were created there was a carburetor that could run a car a little over 100 Mpg. The oil industry's killed it & the inventor. Not sure where the story is.. But when I find it .. I'll post a link.

  • So, if I understand, it is going to cost you virtually nothing in Fuel, but what WILL it cost you in electricity?

    Whats the Miles Per Watts?

  • Guitarking40: Excellent point. The "230 MPG" ad is deceptive because it ignores the fact that the additional electricity will cost the consumer.

  • seems like GM should have a huge market in Europe with high $ fuel...

  • it's a shame they'll go out of business before it comes out.....look how long it took them to come out with a retro camaro after ford started that trend with the mustang.

  • I'm sceptical, 230 miles? and 40,000? I'll have to see it to belive it in a production car and 40,000 is to much money.

  • Never mind the ridiculous price tag.

  • Its an extended range electric vehicle, which means that once the battery is out of juice, The engine kicks in until the battery is fully charged again, then the battery takes over from then on until then. My guess is that they measure the MPG of both devices separately and then combine the mpg to get that average. Since the battery takes up some space, the fuel tank might not hold as much fuel, even if it gets "230 mpg"

  • they should just make it the battery and a clean diesel engine

    then its like 300 mpg

  • invent it then

  • lol i cant if i knew how i would try...

i see no use in the volt though it will be overpriced

and its worse for the environment if they dont dipose of the batteries correctly

  • How can they even measure MPG if it doesn't use fuel for the first 50 miles or something like that.

  • werd up! If it's true...

  • get an electric lawnmower, retard.

  • OMGOMG u serious??? 230mpg!!! wow

  • Oh, that's what I've been seeing in a lot of ads in videos. I didn't know what it meant

  • is that it, why such a short video...for everyone european, their gallons are larger.

  • Hopefully this will save GM and won't end up like the EV1.

  • Is that really possible?
