  • Feeling so privileged after knowing my result today. My writing scored 8, although overall I got 7.5.

  • @tensorbundle Congratulations on getting such a high writing band score. Pete

  • hey sir...wt happens if the word limit exceeds 250 in task 2??

  • @9021729609 Hi, there's no maximum word limit for Task 2, but there is a time limit of around 40 minutes.

It probably isn't the best use of the time to write a lot more than 250 words; it's probably better to spend any spare time you have checking and improving the writing you've already done.

An essay of between 250 and 280 words is an appropriate length. Pete

  • Hello there! Thank you for uploading such a great video. I have just recently had my IELTS test (General Training). I have a bit of concern in regards to the writing test: TASK 2. I managed to plan my idea and seperate most different ideas into different paragraphs with clear introduction and body parts. However, the problem is I didn't manage to include conclusion. I'm just wondering if you know or have any idea of how much penalty it would cost me? I need at least to score 7 in writing. Thanks

  • @eechal2385 I'm glad you liked our video. In answer to your question, it really depends on i) whether your opinion on the topic was clear, and ii) if you wrote 250 words or more.

If your opinion wasn't clear or if you wrote less than 250 words, your IELTS band score will be affected.

Having said that, you may still be able to get the score you need if you used a wide range of grammar/vocabulary accurately in your essay, and if you did well in Writing Task 1.

    Good luck,

    Pete

  • Hi Sir, Just a quick question ...like a topic u have shown at the end..i was just wondering like in this essay as it is asking whether u agree or not? do i need to addrees only 1 side like i agree the reasons and examples ...or i have to say some disagree beacuse of ............

and do i have to use very high standard vocabulary to get good score or ideas matter more than vocab?

    thanks in advance

  • @Dreamsrbroken1. With essay questions that ask 'To what extent do you agree or disagree?', you have a choice; you can talk about one side of the argument only or you can talk about both sides.

This type of question is really asking to explain how much you agree: completely, partly or not at all.

The examiner will look at the i) content of your writing, ii) the organisation and linking, iii) the vocabulary, and iv) the grammar. These four points are all equally important.

  • hi Pete Thank you so much for making this video for us, this is really a appreciable job and very informative. i am desperate to get 7 in writing ..and have got 6.5 last time and now going to give another, and my weakness is that i just start writing never spend first few mins by planning...because of lack of time. but after watching this i wthink i must spend first few mins by planning. so my eaasay will be better organised not random, thank you so much! May God bless u!

  • @Dreamsrbroken1 I'm glad you found the video useful and that you've realised how important it is to make a plan before you start writing.

    Pete
