  • How much does such a great piano cost? I guess they are quite expensive, aren't they?

Great pianists like Adam diserve to play only on the best pianos.

  • your amazing! and handsome too. :)

  • I was searching for a nice old time piano sound. Ended up here. Watched the whole thing, amazing. Good job, keep it up!

  • Is there a word more expressive than wonder?Amazing performance.

  • @rtpress: Your channel is amazing man. Nowadays not many people appreciate this type of art anymore.

    Sad for them :[

  • Brilliant, It's like he's a reincarnation of Scott Joplin :D

P.S Will Adam Be Able To Play In The 2011 O.T.P.C

  • @19Summers94

Yes. He'll be playing on Saturday night in the Dinner With The Champion as well as the show. And he's bringing Johnny Maddox with him. Also, they'll both be doing the riverboat cruise on Friday.

  • @rtpress Brilliant :D

  • Adam's finesse reminds me of ragtime great John Arpin.

  • A gem of a performance. Fats Waller would have been proud to hear this young man! I hope Adam starts his profrssional career soon if he has not already.

  • Wow, he's quite the ham!

  • What type and brand of piano is this ? Never seen one quite like it.

Fantastic sound... of course Adam is wonderful !

  • From the contest web site:

"It is an 1883 rosewood Weber upright. It has a full-sized "bird cage" style action. The dampers are above the hammers instead of below. When discovered in 1986, it was an ugly behemoth which had been painted white. Herb Dady of Nashville refurbished it in 1987/88 with new pins, hammers, and felts. The original ivory keys were retained and repaired. The following year it was stripped and refinished to its native rosewood. "

The piano in the video is indeed a very nice Weber piano. But it's by no means a so-called birdcage piano. The dampers in this piano are below the hammers like in a regular piano action. I might have been an 'overdamper' when new, but certainly not at the moment. In 1883 most pianos already had the underdamper actions. This was either one of them or the piano had it's action replaced at one time.

  • Old time piano. In french It's called :piano légèrement bastringue.

    Awesome performer:*****

    Aurora

  • this is very good of piano music

    einfach geniale musik

  • Just super! Has a real John Arpin flovour.

  • @topcracker yes it does, but does it have a real Adam Swanson flavor?

  • Now THIS is Ragtime! :)

  • Adam is totally amazing. I've been watching the entire Adam Swanson playlist. But I want to say that the piano in this one is particularly wonderful, too. It sounds as great as it looks.

  • As always--- you are great. Always enjoy hearing you play--you have the talent man!!!!!!

  • You never disappoint, Adam. Besides your fantastic piano playing, that glance toward the audience now and then is a plus.

  • Really amazing...just WOW!!

  • It's great to see Adam's flair and personality coming out with this amazing arrangement of BB! I loved it!!! *****

  • This video was up for awhile before I had the chance to hear it.

I am thunderstruck by it; indeed it cries to be played over and over. I was so captivated with "Spring Fever" that I was not prepared for this ever-enduring gem of pianism. Suddenly now we have his "Canadian Capers", too. My noggin' spineth.

  • @TheKnabe You should find him playing California Here I Come. There are a couple of versions but the best is with him in a white tee shirt with his back to the camera. It is, in my opinion, the absolute best thing that's someone's posted of him on youtube. I think he's outstanding.
