I found a shop in Belgium where they sell this pearl! In whole Belgium there's no other shop! This shop got it from the Netherlands.. Immediately ordered it and gonna get it tomorrow.. But are there Motorola-repairers in Belgium too? Because if it would break down, I need to send it to another country :S
@TheHeavensReject . Okay, very fair question. Motoroi and XT720 are essentially the same for S America and Europe (but Motoroi in Korea is on different platform and has slightly different functionality). MB701 was launched in Hong Kong and is very much just the original Milestone without a keyboard. Finally DROID X is a breed apart, only available in US with much larger screen, faster processor and host of other features. So dependent on where you live, dictates availability. Hope that helps.
@rumenthebest ...if this regarding sim free options, then yes it will be sim free. If this is in reference to bootloader, then our standard practice will be in place.
@xxmigs41xx No this is not DROID2 and Milestone XT720 does not come with MOTOBLUR... if motoblur is your thing and depending upon where you are in the world we can recommend devices for you...
When will it be available in Malaysia and how about motorola flipout? Theres only one motorola smartphone officially launched in Malaysia (milestone)...
@mnsbmsrulez hello again our malaysian friend....sorry to say but no word on release dates for either product in Malaysia so far...we'll keep you posted...
Funny, I think it is voiced by the same lady as a "Rolex 904L steel" ad that you can find here on YouTube.. Though somehow while her perfect ?australian? acccent fits the Rolex ad, for a mobile phone it seems a little pretentious to me.. Anyhow, I am perfectly happy with my Milestone and wouldn't trade its HW keyboard for this in a milion years.. :)
@motorola Yes, though I would love the 2.2 update as is mentioned here.. :-) I am perfectly happy with Milestone hardware-wise and I especially appreciate that among all the mindless iPhone copies it has its unique design, but my 2.1 software still has some bugs like random idle restarting, music playback starting upon disconnecting the headphones and most importantly the alarm clock sounding a random amount of time after the set value. I would really like to see those fixed in the 2.2.
would you be knowing when roughly can we expect 2.2 froyo for the milestone if we are getting it that is? took motorola a while to release 2.1 update. You guys really need to improve your customer service, its like your job is to only sell the phones and then forget completely about the customers who have actually bought your products. I have a milestone and my god it lags so bad sometimes, HTC phones with less powerful hardware can render faster. chop chop SERIOUSLY..!!!
@shui2hot4u There currently is no commitment to introduce 2.2 to the original milestone. We have made several improvements to the original Milestone, adding features and fixes as we go, and we are working on some more. Very few manufacturers actually upgraded their devices in market from 2.0 to 2.1, and while we always can look to improve, it would be unfair to say we have not supported Milestone.
@motorola so when u market a phone by saying flash ready, isn't that false advertising? Suppose there is no 2.2 froyo for the milestone offifially released by motorola, that means a lot of us will feel ripped off and I've seen various blogs asking the same question that if droid is getting so should milestone.
DON'T get this phone if it's not offered in your country by buying it without a contract. The locked down bootloader (which is very much against the Android spirit) will prevent you from rooting your phone and enabling payed apps for it, making it quite useless. Get a HTC Device instead. Better support and more in line with the Android-Spirit. If you don't want to root your phone (and loose warrenty) get an iPhone. This isn't for you.
@meisterli I think we will let others make their own mind up....we have already covered this ground in some depth below and on other threads. But you are slightly incorrect...you are able to root (albeit not something 99% of users want to do, and not something we recommend), but you are correct you cannot gain access to bootloader.
THE CEO of MOTOROLA is an indian but i guess after going to the USA he forgot this.... coz all those phones that USA Europe and many asian countries get INDIA doesnt even china gets it..... n china is india neighbor....
@all90killers Regarding your comments, we just want to point out that Motorola has launched a number of devices in India recently, one of which – the Motorola Milestone – has been a great success and recently won the Smartphone of the Year award at the NDTV Techlife Awards 2010 in India. We are committed to the Indian market and look forward to further growing our business there.
@vivianweijian Milestone XT720 is very different....it has 8 megapixel camera, HD video record and playback, zenon flash, and is also a touch tablet form factor, so no slide out qwerty. Hope that helps?
Dont buy this device. It has a closed bootloader. What good is a closed bootloader when Motorola itself CANNOT release a bugless firmware? You will have to wait for months on end to get fixes in firmwares. Get an HTC device and be happy. The xda community will provide bugless roms if and only if in the rare case that HTC takes long to release fixes
@adityat90 thanks for your comments...for those that know what a bootloader is, and willing to do away with their warranties, we are open in saying its not something we support. For the vast majority that just want a kick ass phone, then we'll leave them to make up their own minds as to whether XT720 fits their needs.
@motorola Wow thanks for replying Motorola. I have one more thing to point out. If you don't support such practices then do you at least support giving out bugless ROMs? Does your company model work on providing buggy ROMs? Is that the strategy that Motorola has adopted?
Now that I cleared my head up a little, tell me why does the DROID have an open bootloader? Contd. Down
@adityat90 Was it because you needed a device to push your sad company out of obscurity? Or was it because you felt that the rest of the world were mindless lab rats that don't know what they are doing and would always lead to breaking their device?
Thanks and I do await a reply. A really good reply.
And I also wait for a kexec and a ROM that makes SENSE. Pun 100% intended.
@adityat90 On Milestone we have have provided several updates, adding functional enhancements as we go, and necessary fixes as we go, and these have been well received as I say by the majority. Equally we know there is more to do.
Please for all that is good and holy come to T-Mobile USA!
This saving grace piece of technology is already compatible with T-Mo's bands. And the two of you are already seeing each other via the Cliq. So, how about the two of you lovebirds make us high-end Android starved folks happy and just say "XT720 IS COMING TO T-MO US!!".
C'mon.. pleeeaaase? I can't take the suspense :(
@underthecover1 at present its clocked at 550mhz, there is investigation as to what is possible, but for the moment we recommend purchase on what you know today, rather than what you hope for in the future...hope that is okay with you...
@XxXtiffanyXx ...well give it a go..I'm quite a sceptic on pure touch, but the virtual keypad is laid out well, very responsive, with haptic feedback too, and is very easy to use.
@XxXtiffanyXx The lack of Qwerty maybe a downside but i will love it if Motorola remove the D-pad i found it to be quite useless removing it and add space between those button will be a better choice.
I pray this comes to T-Mobile, it has great battery life, & despite some of the bad experiences I had w/ Motorola, I really like them. Them, Nokia & HTC are my fave phone manufacturers.
The idiot who directed this video left out the best side of this phone, the camera side look so good but he/she totally ignored it like plague in this presentation....what can can I say.....
@LexxK think you are saying why is this a milestone and not motoroi? It is a similar product to motoroi that was launched in Korea, but there are some differences...which is why we renamed.
@chemss85 well thank you...we are trying to make the right decisions and build better, more exciting phones for people...but its over to everyone out there now.... As for E398...think i still have one rolling around in a drawer somewhere...pretty good for its time as i recall...all the best
@brabbitsp yes its been asked a few times ;) No decision either way, so trying not to sound like a recorded message, but we prefer to be honest and open and say please buy on the basis of what you know today, and not on what you hope may happen tomorrow...that way anything that does happen is a bonus....hope this sounds fair to you...
Holy sh!t im sold just by this TV ad!...was gonna wait for N8...but symbian vs this monster why oh why!..have the nokia x6 but this phone looks and seems like the phone to have...i cant wait!...now let us get 2.2. by end of year! haha wishful thinking..
@backchatkid well that has put a smile on the marketing team...many thanks! As for the other part, no decision either way so far, so please make sure you are happy with your purchase based upon what you know today, rather than what you hope for tomorrow....
@motorola For sure hey!..im just super glad that Moto has risen from the dead...my sriend has got the milestone original with that Awesome screen and keyboard...I was going to get that phone but opted for the x6 based on the free navigation..i see his android OS and great fluid screen and can only try to hide my nokia lol...im so glad though this new milestone will have a great camera and im super happy for the design..iPhone 4 aint got nothing on Moto. Big thumbs up to the company.
@josuearisty ... there are a few circulating on the web as I write...stick motorola milestone XT720 in Google search and there are some hands on reviews already surfacing as well as a few videos of HD out to HD TV...
@underthecover1 I'm afraid that you are incorrect...there are no motoblur screens being shown and the call and message softkeys you see are representative of the Milestone XT720 product. Hope that clarifies.
@underthecover1 there isn't a mouse or d pad, just move your fingers across the screen and select. The 3 points at the top is just the proximity sensor knowing when its close to your face. As for Android 2.2, same answer as earlier threads...at this moment there are no details on future upgrades, so we always prefer to be open with people and say be happy with your purchase for what it is giving you today, rather than what may happen in the future...hope this is fair to you...all the best!
@motorola but 3 points for the proximity sensor, other phones do just have one. And my last question: It really won't have motoblur/Motorola customised UI?
@bonfo22 yes there is no slide out keyboard for this one, but the touch keyboard is a delight to use in both portrait and landscape mode, and also has haptic feedback on pressing so to provide re-assurance.
My dad works for motorola and I want this phone, every day he has sent me rumours about this phone and today he sent me like 20 texts sending me to this advert.
I will be getting it.
And motorola keep being awesome, I have always loved your phones and how you test them by dropping them 10ft which is far more than every other country. Out of 3 motorola phones, they all work.
Will it be out by the end of this quater in europe?
@colonellemon thanks for the endorsement... yes we are expecting this to be released right at the end of June. Specific european countries still to be announced, so stay tuned.
@underthecover1 currently clocking 550mhz (but don't let pure specs fool...this thing is slick)...pricing yet to be announced but assume in the region of original Milestone money...
@underthecover1 to answer 1) pricing yet to be released, so i was giving you a ball park to aim for 2) Germany details still to be released, so stay tuned 3) no details on upgrades so far, so we always say be happy with your choice knowing today, not what you hope may happen in the future 4) see answer 3, but to be clear this does not come with motoblur.... Hope this helps...

@underthecover1 ...correct, it won't come with motoblur....
motorola 1 year ago
@motorola then your video is wrong, cause in the video you see the calll ind the message buttons, which are only in motoblur
underthecover1 1 year ago

@motorola yeah thanks for the anser, and excuse me for this coatic commanting!
underthecover1 1 year ago
@motorola but 3 points for the proximity sensor, other phones do just have one. And my last question: It really won't have motoblur/Motorola customised UI?

very very very interesting!! no keyboard... not bad!

@colonellemon When I say country I meant company. Man I am not ready for my English exam

@colonellemon thanks for the endorsement... yes we are expecting this to be released right at the end of June. Specific european countries still to be announced, so stay tuned.

Hope this helps...
motorola 1 year ago
@motorola upps, deleted it, try to restore it...
1) Will it be cheaper than the Milestone?
2) When will it come to Germany?
3) Will it get Abdroid 2.2?
4) Will the updates take a longer time to proceed than the orginal milestone
