  • Anyone know where to buy a stack of thank you notes?

  • I just turned the vid on now so sorry if this has been answered, but was this before he knew he had cancer?

  • @GoonOnFire watch the video and u will understand :)

  • I am watching this while I am supposed to be studying for my exams. I am sure that it will be worth it.

  • A viewpoint as a college student with time management! Check it out

walkercarmon. blogspot. com (just copy paste and delete the spaces after the ( . ) 's

  • One of the best videos I have ever seen.

  • who could dislike this video?

  • Hello, I'm looking for people to answer 6 questions on time management, any help would be great, thnx!

    tolu.na\A2LwN5

  • lol i'm procrastinating while watching this :P haha

  • @falseaddress010 It's relative. You're only procrastinating, i.e wasting time if you don't put to use the skills Prof.Randy talked about. What you need to do is think of it as an investment. I'm going to close Youtube and turn off my laptop and get to work on my assignments due next week, so I can have more time to do other things.

  • he recommended 2 books at the end but I couldnt see them. Anyone knows?

    Thanks.

  • @letung1310 The lecture is based on Time Management for Teachers, Cathy Collins, 1987• and Career Track Seminar: Taking control of Your Work Day 1990

And the two books he recommanded at the end are "The One Minute Manager" by Kenneth Blanchard / Spencer Johnson, and "The 7 habits of highly effective people" by Stephen R. Covey.

All the powerpoint and pdf slides are available by following the description links. Take care !

  • try google it.

  • i wish there were english subtitles

  • @44yyBBaakk

The 1st link in description lead to another link (other lectures) where there is a link with transcripts, or the same video with subtitles.

  • is there any transcript for this video ? Please help.

  • @Ghassanws89

Look at the 1st link in description. There is a link to "Other lectures of...." and there you will fin transcripts in Eng, German and Chinese..

  • Great perspective on Time management. Great speech! More people should be like Professor Randy that gives wonderful and informative speeches!

  • Thanks for for providing that kind of perspective!

  • really nice!

  • he's a genius for sure and I enjoyed this talk very much, but his segment about how email can't be a part of your to-do list is, i think, outdated. Email providers are much more sophisticated now with associated calendars (google), filters, folders, and on...still valuable information overall tho. like!

  • i am not going to lie, this guy needs to slow down.... not in his speach, but in his life, i know he passed away and all that...

but seriously... relax a bit, there is more to life than to rushing someone out of your office just so u can do more work..

    good tips though,

  • @tjobtjobtjob Dude are you seriously trying to tell this guy about life. You are barely 18 and you trying to teach this man about life. fuck of retard. This man have a wonderful family and this talk is about maximizing fun to enjoy the priceless things like time with your family, but you obviously didn't catch that, even though it was one of the first things he said.

  • @1moomed23 yeh sure, lets be litlle nice and read my full comment next time.

and maybe if you watch the whole thing closely... u will know what this guy was on about.

  • Great video. Some awesome tips and ideas.. too bad he passed away

  • An hour and sixteen minutes worth of tips that can potentially save you hours and hours of time? I think it's worth it.

  • A "time management" video that is 1 hr & 16 min long! Something about that seems kind of ironic.

  • @1966singh the f@#% u talking about

  • biggest tregedy ,majority of know everything, but lacksomething when they need it,,majority of tactics is capitalistic theory,,,sell some one, some thing to survive and race to less time, more production and innovation ,fight against time, survival and luck with determination

  • Whoever disliked this video needs to be punched in the face repeatedly.

  • @tr1tan mindless idiots

  • THIS MUST BE THE REASON when I tell someone I don't know how to do something, instead of them teaching me, they assume I am saying I don't WANT to do it!! When he doesn't want to do something, he says he does not know how - as an example running photo copiers. Jeeps!! I wonder if he is still alive so I can talk to him about this.

  • @Creative4aReason He is gone so I won't be able to talk to him about this in this realm.

  • If someone tells me they only have 5 minutes, that makes me scramble my brain (causing anxiety) thinking of how to say what I want in 5 minutes. So I give them the short hand version; then they start asking me questions. As soon as I realize we are over 5 minutes, I usually feel resentment because if they had not told me what I now view as an untruth, I could have given them the background plus led up to the information calmly. I do not like when people do that to me.

  • If you mark your e-mails with color coding (if you are using Microsoft Office Outlook), then you can sort the e-mails by importance.

  • It is very important to have time management so that we can be more productive in our duties. May it in the office or at home only. Time is really precious and we should not waste any second of it.

  • I can see him managing time between being a professor and christian bale

  • Yeah, mine too.

  • good video, and i completed my homework as a result.

  • this was my homework in freshman seminar today :)

  • @DamarSweetness this was my hw for my first year seminar too (same thing mostly I'm guessing) haha

  • Two things I use to make myself more efficient: website blocker chrome extension in order to block facebook for most of my work day and time snapper for analyzing where i spend my time when sitting in front of the computer.

These tools can make you 100% more efficient .

  • @ItayKlein but i always disable it :(

  • I dont know how to express my respectfulness, but Life needs one like Randy Pausch. I hope more and more Speech made by Professors to be uploaded publicly. Knowledge will not care about copyright and Value will be shared for everyone....

  • Just love it. And hope to live it. Because life is once...

  • Wow he died. That sucks man. Nice to know that he is still alive and well on you tube.

I kind of liked this vid. Was for a college success class. He has some good ideas and he knows what is going on. Just sucks that he did not survive. Man he has a family. Glad I had mine early.

  • Bury My Heart is "a life-altering approach to turning managers into unconditionally committed leaders." Check out slapcompany.

  • @PattisonAve yo, i totally agree

  • Sir Randy, You 'll be in our hearts foreve

    .

    Stephanie

  • @Thusharahmri I'm sorry, I was wrong to vote, I wanted to press the positive. I agree with what you say. R.

  • I love how gmail now has an option to sort by importance! It's a start.

  • Thank You Sir for the wonderful advice you gave in the talk. Just the kind of thing I needed to hear right now. Things involving time are going completely out of hand in my life. Your life is an inspiration for us all. Thank You once again.

  • Is it just be or the audio is actually bad?

  • This was the best time spent on youtube ever. I stayed up late watching this video but I surely learned a lot. Professor Randy Pausch was amazing. His last line "Time is all we have, and you may find one day, you have less than you think" brought me to tears. Thank you!

  • he's amazing! i wish he had been my father...

  • Comment removed

  • Bronislaw Bombała - Polish scientist has created a phenomenology of management, which gives a good theoretical basis of management science.

  • Does anyone know which two books he recommand at the end of the talk?

  • man, I wish I had this guy for my actual father

  • @midcandidate15 i'm with my father

  • rest in peace.

  • Two books were: The One Minute Manager, Kenneth Blanchard and Spencer Johnson, Berkeley Books, 1981, ISBN 0-425-09847-8 The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey, Simon & Schuster, 1989, ISBN 0-671-70863-5

  • so hard to believe he is dying :(

  • @bocckoka He died 2(3??) years ago...

  • @bocckoka no he is dead :(

  • I typed in MGMT and this came up....wtf?

  • What were the two books he talks about at the 15:00 mark?

  • What were the two books he talks about at the 15:00 mark?

  • @SuperMightyPenguin Its called investing your time, in hopes of saving some later.

  • After reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, my perspectives on balancing work, family, and personal aspirations changed. I read the book over a year ago and I still reflect on the life lessons learned through his lectures.

  • 61 couldn't manage their time efficiently !

  • Right after I watched this I cleared out my inbox!

  • 24:49 - Email program with "sort by importance" button?

Sure! Google Gmail Priority Inbox :P

  • It's true - i used to say that there's no point making a plan cos life happens and you need to be flexible to flow with it. I know today that was an excuse for me to procrastinate and not take any responsibility for what happened in my life... Thanks for the upload!

  • It is unfortunate that alot of the things he was trying to point out on the screen he was useing was unable to be seen by the video viewer due to bad visual direction.

  • Good lecture !

  • “I’ve learned that mistakes can often be as good a teacher as success.”

  • Oh I love Randy Pausch...

  • Stating the bloody obvious but ... inspirational

  • @leemagers If all he did was stating the bloody obvious, then u sure bloody as hell won't get inspired.

  • Why would 61 people dislike this?

    Why!?

I mean, what exactly is going through their heads?

  • @MiKKA335 probably nothing

  • absolutely GREAT!

have never known how to value time and thanks to this video i do now. THANK YOU!

  • Time is all we have, and you may find one day, that you have less than you think. Thank you for being the amazing person you were Randy!

  • man do i miss this guy

  • My semestr always starts with Randy.

  • Wow I sure hope this man is alive, and if not, I just want to say thank you for taking your time to explain mine. Each word in this lecture is valuable to me. I will listen again, I'm sure,

  • lol I'm ironically procrastinating by watching this :P

  • @cluny2300 Lmao so am I

  • @mythaleph 15:24 beginning he said "it doesn’t matter how well you polish the underside of the banister", do you mean this sentence? I hope that helps you

  • @mythaleph I think he means that, rather than skillfully and efficiently doing things that aren't worth your time, you should do things that *are* worth your time regardless of whether you do them perfectly or even satisfactorily, because even if you do a poor job at something you want to do, you'll learn, and you'll reapply what you learn so that you become better at doing things that have meaning to you.

Sorry if that's verbose or nebulous :p

  • Brilliant!

  • nice videos

  • This was a great lecture. It is a shame he has past away. He is so inspirational and knowledgebale. We will miss his lectures and motivation for others. May he rest in peace. He seems like a wonderful and humorous guy.

  • My former mentor tected me to read /dr, Pausch book before I retire.....luckily I got one copy and at the same time listen to him in the internet......I feel so touched learing his retirement is not the same as mine. i will be retiring this year...at 65......and he has retired due to liver cancer....but still has made a difference.....thanks for sharing his wisdom.....May he rest in peace......

  • really inspirational stuff

  • Very informative. I didnt kow Randy, but viewing his videos makes me feel I did, at least a little. I signed on just to leave a message for his family. He obviously was while on earth a man of great integrity because his spirit continues to touch others, others like me who is an earthly stranger. Spirit, our essence I believe, lives and thrives in and throughout the lives of our loves ones and the lives we have touched while on earth. Rest in peace Randy, thanks for giving me some insight.

  • I should have seen this years before, but I'm glad to see this lecture. I learned a lot. :)

  • Thank you for the video. I'v learned a lot. It was very useful for me as a student and a parent

  • When Professor Randy speak nobody can help themselves to do not listen to him... He is so interesting and so professional speaker I'd ever know.. Such a great lecture about time management. I've learned a lot...

  • wonderful lecture (and legacy)

  • Death disliked this video 59 times because Randy Pausch used his time management skills to live his life to the fullest

  • Thanks for a high quality lecture.

    Merci beacoup

  • Love the irony. Randy Pausch real reason for living wasn't computers and technology, it was these speeches that touch the lives of millions of people. And the irony is that the lectures were done at the last moment. Thank you Randy for making the world a better place.

  • Some good points....

you can find many of them in more detail in a book called "Getting Things Done" by David Allen

  • Irony of this video: I'm supposed to be writing an essay for my AP Literature class before my Orchestra Concert tonight >:D Muwahahahahahahaha!!!

  • i hat lectures

  • @poomtang235 I can see that.

  • 21:00

  • I think EVERY high school student should watch this...then again in college. Between the to do list, the time clock, the filing system....if it's worth your time, then it's worth your time!!! very insigtful! Thank you Randy!

  • The sentence in the end of the talk is really moving.

  • Its been the best lecture ever ever...!!!

  • Even after you are long gone, we benefit from your gift of wisdom RIP randy !!

  • I had to watch this for an assignment in my class: Strategies for the technical professional. UGG!

  • How excellent it is to hear from a person who not only practices what he preaches, but understands more than the "healthy" the value of time. God Bless him and his family.

  • This is a great lecture on Time Management. I couldn't watch the whole thing, but I really enjoyed what I watched.

  • @avelasourcing haha Did you not have enough... time?

  • Is there someone who knows what two books randy recommended?

"Time is all we have and you may find one day, you have less than you think" - Rand Pausch

  • @paul042791 The One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

  • i wished we had such a lecturer here in the Netherlands.

  • happy birthday Randy!

  • Thank you (note to) Randy.

  • I love his speech, really inspirational. I've always been struggling with time management, but watching this video the first time from timemanagementcom had made a great difference in my life. Amazing! Thanks for uploading...:)

  • Thank you so much for uploading this :)

  • 57:43- He got caught out biting his nails!!

  • This was very interesting to watch. I really liked it.

  • @lineax88 this is a site where you can see the entire presentation, slide by slide, including the photos that were not shown in the video alice.org/Randy/timetalk.htm#Introduction

  • @denisaforeverinlove Thank you.

  • What are the names of the books Randy recommanded at the end of the video? Thanks

  • @lineax88 "Time Management for Teachers" - Cathy Collins, 1987 and also, "Career Track Seminar: Taking Control of Your Work Day", 1990

All of his slides can be downloaded from ww.cs.virginia.edu/~robins/Randy/ so you can follow along as he talks

  • @lostinmyworld53 Thank you.

  • "this is not a filing system. This is madness!"

    "NO, This IS SPARTA!!!!"

  • @hitmobi

I said the same thing lol

  • @hitmobi LMAoo lolz well said

  • At 24m50s, Randy complains that most email software do not have the sort by importance button. Well Gmail now has a mail prioritisation feature.

  • So many people think life ends too soon while the real problem is that so many people wait so long to begin it.

Randy, it seems, was a wonderful man and the world is less of a better place now he's passed. RIP xx

  • last one for Randy Pausch

  • @SSgtParmer you agree that super-spirit exists...can you see that?Same way, spirit exists..and we are all nothing but spirits embedded in bodies..we need to realise that we are not body but spirit...we cannot prove it to others but realise it for ourselves..for your sake, let me tell you that I have talked to spirits of dead people..I dont want to elaborate..thanks

  • Beautiful. Can anyone tell me what are the two books he recommended?

  • The final words were very wise: "Time is all we have; and you (will) find one day: you have less than you think (now)."

  • i bookmarked this and its on a botton, i still havent seen it all... its been awaile.

  • I got teary-eyed the last few seconds. To Randy's family: Thank you for selflessly allowing him to share those 76min and 22 secs with us.

  • 27:00

    NO.

    This. Is. Spartaaaaaaa!

  • glad my teacher made this a homework assignment.
