Thanks! Not far from completing it, just have to build a custom sump & cams for the new motor, then it will be ready to drop in. Have given it a bit of a panel & paint too :)
Cheers :) VH41DE Cima halfcut was only 800 bucks, I wrangled a good deal there. Have since rebuild bottom end to VH45 internals, working on custom cams, new exhaust system etc... eventually I want 150HP NOS kit too ;)
No, no it's not. What's wrong is a car company fitting a heavier, smaller capacity, inferior engine into their prestige sports car when they could have fitted their LeMans pedigree quad cam V8. RB engines, while they're decent, are not as good as the quad cammer.
I'd just like to add that having fitted this engine, replacing the long front heavy RB, has improved the weight balance of the car and therefore the handling too.
It's a Nissan quad cam alloy V8, VH41DE (you get the VH45DE in the states in infiniti Q45s). It's a far superior motor than chev or ford options, for a fraction of the price too.
We also get d VH41 in d states(its in d 97-01 Q45s) but w/o VVT, our VH45(in 90-95 VQs) cums w/ VVT, d 96 models were left w/o VVT due to emissions, I like American V8s, but other den VVT, wat else makes d Nissan V8 better den d ford or chevy options?
American V8s are sweet, but the Nissan V8 is better than many due to having a high volumetric efficiency, excellent design originating from group C prototype Le Mans racing, light weight, and is very cheap for what you get. It comes standard with a very strong 6 bolt bottom end.
in d states we also get d VH41 in our Q45s(97-01) but w/o VVT, but our 90-95 Q45s get d VH45 w/ VVT, in 96 VVT was removed due to emissions, also i like American V8s but other den VVT and cheaper price wat makes d nissan V8 a better engine den ford or chevy engines?
Yeah, from Hamilton. Man if you think this is badass now, it's nothing compared to when I reassemble the engine over the next few months! Over 100HP more and a fully revised exhaust system on the way to change the sound!
i dreamt of fitting an Infiniti V8 to my old Silo but never went any further than that.Guy's that's Fucking Awsome! imagine that back in 87 at Bathurst! lol... great job
Is that in hamilton?

love this thing mate, it's indeed a beast
any word on the hybrid you are/were building?
barbados026 2 years ago
See above, not far to go... the machining done to the block and heads of the new setup should bring it to 10.76:1 compression, not bad!

You wouldn't be silly doing it! Mint engine, gobs of torque, big revs, sounds amazing... go for it!
unharmonix 3 years ago
Any idea on how heavy the engine is?
s2k12 3 years ago
Yeah, 220kg minus exhaust manifolds... it's lighter than turbo RB engines.

Thanks.

Hm...What V8? the manifold somewhat resembled a sideways Chevy LT4, or perhaps a ford 5.0...
I'm a clueless yankee, by the way...
