His achievements and teachings are sagacious. Personally, I think his speech on the 7 C's toward integrated success is the key to complete the Confucian "Great Learning," because the Great Learning did not specify how to practice a researcher's attitude. These are the micro and macro aspects for being perfect. Also, he treats all students like friends and never displays a trace of anger or annoyance toward the youngster. I'm really fortunate to know both him and Y.C. Fung during my stay. ~S.A.Y.

Dr. Chien is a great scientist and wonderful human being. He was one of my physiology students while I was a medical student at Columbia and it was a privilege and a pleasure to have him as my teacher.
