Take for example the language which is loosely related to Korean which is, in turn, related to Chinese much like Vietnamese has a few of its roots in Chinese. Culture wise, Japan's traditions are both based on their own native practices as well as East Asian ones, namely Confucianism's ideals and the use of chopsticks. To say that Japan alone is different would be a bit inaccurate

And while I know certain traits do originate in Chinese culture I also know that the Japanese have managed to divert somewhat from that obviously enough. Loosely related does not= the same. And My main point was that physical characteristics are for the most part different regarding eyes, hair and skin color. Saying they're all the same is the same as saying they're all nowhere near similar. Both are wrong

Skin color tends to vary from region to region so Japanese people can be both pale and tan. In general, single fold eyelids are common as well and black hair and eyes are dominant in the Japanese much like most people from East Asia. There are exceptions, of course, but this is generally the case
