  • Sensational. TY Mr C for posting

  • Great, Gran Tamino bravo! gran descubrimiento, gracias

  • He would make a great Radames. Unlike most Italian verdian tenors it(radames) would takes pinch of Heldenish timbre like Volker.

  • Tamino ottimo, tenore lirico e spinto, non helden, infatti in Siegfried è un disastro, mentre bene in Lohengrin

  • fabulous! a true heroic tamino. an example for any full spinto tenor who dares attempt this treacherous piece.

  • This is incredible, but is this a different version, b/c some of the words are different, nevertheless its still phrased and sung very beautifully!!

  • What a beautiful discovery. Thank you for posting!

  • He could scale down his spinto voice and sing with such beauty and lyricism. Like Caruso, who would sing the Zauberflote arias to warm up his voice.

By keeping active in the lyric repertoire even as he sang more Wagner, Volker kept himself from developing stupid and sloppy mannerisms that many Wagner tenors had. He was the greatest 'baby Heldentenor' ever.

  • @GermanOperaSinger Did Caruso ever record any of him singing Die Zauberfloete arias?

  • I did not know that Völker was such a good Mozart singer! His voice is truly beautiful!

  • Sans doute un des plus magnifique Tamino que j'ai entendu qui réussit à synthétiser héroisme et poesie. FABULEUX!
