I grew up with this band and loved the initial AP English educator, I see him continue to evolve as a poet. One literally hears him aging with dignity as he sings. He would be a silly rock star to sing it with its initial beat. He is pensive, reflective and suffers some regret in this newest version. It reminds me of hearing July Collins' most resent presentation of Send in the Clowns. She sees life's gray & acknowledges it as an aging woman. The tone must shift based on one's age/perspective.
