  • Sadly,UPS has since retired all of its 727 fleet, having replaced them with Boeing 757PFs

  • is this a 727-100?

  • @gbriff yes a 727-100 just re-engined all three of them

  • I will never fly a 727 again.. I thought I was going to have to get out and push last time I was on one... there was nearly no thrust... Even the MD-80/83 seem more powerful... even thought the MD 80 has no T.R.'s . I dont like flying on non TR airframes... heating up the brakes that hot makes me cringe, then all the metallic squealing you have to hear from them afterwards.

  • @PaganEgyptian MD 80 has TR's - DO YOUR RESEARCH before you spout off about something. I worked on 727's in the 70's 80's and 90's and there was not a better more powerful aircraft of it's size anywhere. The pilots flying your aircraft must have been using reduced power to save fuel. At full power the 727 is a hot rod.

  • I did these planes at DEE HOWARD , every one of them!! Tay 650 roll royce engines, glass cockpits fly it 50ft off the ground and saves gas, all day long.

  • @1hijax

Cool, I worked there for a little while before I went to work for the Air Force.

  • This 727 has actually been re-engined with Rolls Royce Tay turbofans in place of the normal Pratt & Whitney JT8Ds, which are much, much louder than the Tays on this one...

  • thems the ones (RR tay) that power the fokker F70 n F100 wow.

  • Yes, the 650

  • the good old days when jets sounded like jets, not the oversized vacuum cleaners we have in the skies these days

  • Yeah, even the MD-80's at LAX sound very powerful.

  • @RavenStarr01 yea, but the oversized vacuum cleaners we have in the skies today can keep you alive

  • what exactly IS the difference between an MD-83 and a 727?

  • Well the MD-83 its one engine short of a 727.

  • well yeah but besides that they are both t-tail planes and they are both long and skinny and have shorter wings that are closer to the back and have engines in the back

  • @iur7 Details, Details. haha

  • Im glad that this type of Jet (727-100)

    still flies :)

  • My dad had a 727-

    was a nice plane.

Replaced it with the 737-800 though.

  • Lowbypass engines JT8D, RR Conways, RR speys, Just create the best music ever

  • why can't they reengine all of the 727's so we can still see this old bird in service?

  • It is still in service. (Even the 707's still are.

  • i know, but they're being withdrawn.

  • exept those 727's from TPUS American Airlines.

  • Lovely to see it's still around! Thanks.
